I've been doing archery for the last decade. I learned to dance Latin, ballroom, and west coast swing four years ago (so much fun and women LOVE a man that can lead well!) I love being outdoors, especially backpacking, hiking, and camping. I cook better than the vast majority of my peers and have a library of wine I've collected since I turned 21. I'm well read and read constantly for my own enjoyment, improvement, and self education. A few months ago I picked up rock climbing; the combination o…

Alternately, the 30 bus route runs up the coast through La Jolla. Take it southbound to Bird Rock (which is well within running distance from downtown La Jolla) and start with some day game somewhere like Bird Rock Coffee Roasters. Get back on the bus and head to PB. This is a college area that loves to party and hook up. Girls are fairly one dimensional and easy, and you'll deal with competition from hordes of bros. Day game abounds up and down Garnet, and on the beach if the weather is nice. T…

Unfortunately yes. Also, a large number of them are meatheads in the Navy/Marines who all seem to congregate around PB like moths to a flame. I recommend going out in areas like OB, which is still coastal but more chilled out, and North Park/University Heights.

Intent refers to the subtext of whatever you say. This is why some PUA's can get away with saying nearly anything to open a girl. What comes out of their mouth might be random, nonsensical, or insulting, but what they are communicating - the intent they display - is received as "Hi, I'm a confident man of value and I think you're cute." For the rest of us, it is important to start aligning our intent to the way we want women to receive us. You can throw out something clever or funny but if the w…

Sorry, should have clarified. I fly Southwest which has an open seating policy.

Since everyone is still boarding the plane, any open seat - including the one next to the cute guy who made her smile - could be her seat.

Yeah, I can dig it. Look, if you read Seddit regularly then you should know by now that many people come here because they have a lot of social anxiety around approaching women and initiating a conversation. I happen to be one of those people. A number of sedditors have been lauding Dale Carnegie's How to Win Friends and Influence People in other posts. I started reading it and one of the immediate takeaways has been that my face is usually too neutral and that I should smile at people more. I t…

Flow by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi His conception of flow, a state of high functionality where a difficult and worthwhile challenge is perfectly matched with high skill to achieve a state of immersion in your action is simply the best definition I've ever read of being 'In State' with tight inner game.

Man, If I had to sum up my problems in a post, this is it. I feel the exact same way: I'm always in my head, and it always screws me over, whether it's being unable to open a set, or self-sabotaging while I'm opening. I guess the only times I've been able to dodge it are when I just flat out don't care what others think of me, but those nights are few and far between. The comments so far are great, keep em' coming, you're helping a bunch of us sedditors who deal with the exact same problems!

Don't think there is officially. It would be good to find a few people interested in meeting up somewhere like PB to sarge and open sets...

I used to feel the same way. I overheard my closest female friend talking about how she doesn't think its masculine so I exorcised them from my texting vocabulary. Fast forward a few years, I've learned that the ladies love that shit. Seriously I use the winky face all the time. It's hard to communicate a truly flirtatious, 'maybe I'm being suggestive, maybe I'm not tone' via text. Slap a winky face on the end of it and she'll know what's up. TL;DR Try it and see for yourself ;)

All the Practical Pickup articles are gold. Seriously, I've stopped reading just about everything else; it's all gimmicks and tricks that worked for one guy out there but come off as cheesy or inauthentic when you try them. Practical Pickup is common sense.

Wow. This is so incredibly simple and true, yet couldn't be farther from my mind most of the time when I'm talking to women. We're all looking for the same thing, and when you lose sight of that, you lose the courage to be who she hopes you are.

I really like running the cube. It builds a lot of trust and connection quickly, provides tons of opportunities for kino and eye contact, and forces her to qualify for you. I used to think it was all bullshit and telling the girl generic things you thought they wanted to hear, but the more I do it better I am at actually pulling the important (or at least relevant) information out of her answers. There's something to be said for a woman thinking, after only ten minutes, that you know things abou…

The first day of school is easily the best day to meet people! Why? because no-one knows anybody! The majority of my classes in college were 200+ students. Sure there were a few familiar faces, but odds are you didn't know the person setting their book bag down next to you. You know that feeling of sitting in a huge lecture hall, secretly hoping someone cool sits by you? YOU CAN BE THAT COOL GUY! This Wednesday, the social life at your school resets. Everyone wants to meet people. Hot chicks are…

I think this post does a great job of illustrating the dichotomy surrounding chivalrous behavior. A guy without confidence who runs around trying to get everything right by opening doors and pulling out chairs is going to seem weak, desperate, and generally "too nice". A confident guy who opens doors or pulls out chairs is sexy. Women can spot the guy who opens a door just because he's on a date a mile away. Women want it to be natural, practiced, part of who you are. That's what your grandfathe…

Spot on. I'm amazed at some of the reactions this thread has produced. By and large, guys like us give it up too easily to girls. We're emotionally supportive and expect that this will lead women to be attracted to us. We presented ourselves as a safe bet and were treated as such. The key is to realize that people want things that they can't have. There is nothing more infuriating to a woman than a guy who DOESN'T immediately become putty in her hands. An man who comes off as independent, confid…

I disagree entirely. It doesn't get you in the mindset that people don't matter, rather, it puts you in the mindset that what other people think about you doesn't matter. We get so bent out of shape by rejection. When someone says no to us, most of us normal guys crumple up into little balls of fear and self-loathing without realizing that a person saying no does not diminish you in any way. I'd like to draw a parallel between getting a job and getting a girlfriend. To get a job (especially in t…
