Is it only for UK parents or worldwide?

Thanks everyone for the great ideas! Exercise is definitely on the list now and I already play a bunch of instruments, but woodworking is really tempting me. Thanks!

Fully agree, but truthfully it's a human trait, not just women. We are all the heroes of our own stories. I would never suggest bending over and agreeing that it's all your fault. Just keep in mind that you're never going to change her mind on this, so why bother to fight it.

It sounds like you are doing things right. Fingers crossed!

Also, protect your mental health. If you can afford it, see a therapist. There's going to be a lot of stuff going on in your head and your kids' heads and getting some.professional perspective is very useful.

So much of it depends on her, but the fact that you are taking actions to fix things is huge. If you really want to stay together, involve her in the healing process and hope for the best. Good luck!

From the OP: Sadly she decided that she wanted to stay at 50/50. Still, I'm documenting everything in case she ever pushes for more or tries to move our kid. Oh well, the fantasy was nice while it lasted.

Yup. Already in the agreement and I won't budge on it. Thanks!

I agree that honesty is the best policy. Lines don't work. If negging works, you are starting out on a really bad footing. Just say that she seems nice, you would love to take her to a cup of coffee or a drink, and if she is otherwise committed or not interested no worries. Giving her your number gives her the control, and if she does not respond, let it go.

We are on good terms, but she is sadly in deep denial that the divorce has had any impact on our son or that she is anything but a perfect mother. Separately, I looked up parenting after separation classes and I may take one just to get some advice and perspective on the best way to raise my son on my end. Thank you for the suggestion!

He says she's mean. Frankly, I think it's more that she refuses to take an interest in anything he likes (pokemon, video games, etc.)

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
