You said "Many men don't know any women who show any interest in them." I'm saying if that's the case they should simply try to meet more women so they could increase their chances of meeting women who might be interested in them.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/11/22 07:35 PM
1

Yes, our perceptions of them might change, but I don't think attraction can develop with time.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/11/22 07:34 PM
1

What do you mean?
/r/PurplePillDebate14/11/22 07:33 PM
3

Find more women?
/r/PurplePillDebate14/11/22 05:16 PM

Why is it their only strategy?
/r/PurplePillDebate14/11/22 04:18 PM
4

What did he do to win you over?
/r/PurplePillDebate14/11/22 04:12 PM
5

Why do you say that? I think in most cases the rate at which attraction may occur drops over time. So the longer you wait the less chances you have for someone to become attracted to you. People are quick to judge each other and this applies likewise to looks and attraction.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/11/22 04:12 PM
11

Attraction happens in a much shorter timeframe though. It may only take a single moment for it to occur in some cases.

If they've already looked through your resume and haven't responded for over a year, then yes, you should move on and find something else. Just like if a girl has already taken a look at you and hasn't given off any signals, you should move on to somebody else.

Because what is a "10" for one man might be a "4" for another. Ratings are subjective.

In most countries, women start to outnumber men at around the age of 60, but in France this number is placed much earlier at around 28. I believe you can find this info in the wikipedia article on the demographics of France.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/08/22 05:47 PM
1

In some countries like Norway the demographic situation is even worse than everywhere else, although France seems to be doing relatively well.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/08/22 10:06 PM

Doesn't the same apply for men as well?
/r/PurplePillDebate28/08/22 09:19 AM

I'd like to think so too lol

Yes, females, but not necessarily single women with whom you have a chance with.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/08/22 05:55 PM

In the past lots of people were sent to a monastery, joined the priesthood or become consecrated virgins. There is a notable lack of religious life today. Perhaps some of these people could do well in such a setting. But there's no mistaking that some people really do want to be with someone and they're just upset about their loneliness.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/08/22 04:00 PM
1

At this point I don't know what you're talking about. I'm just saying you have to look at a person's circumstances to see what advice might work for them. Sometimes people misidentify a problem and try to suggest a wrong solution.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/08/22 03:36 PM
1

If it gets that ugly, then that sort of advice won't help them. Perhaps sending them to a monastery retreat might help, idk.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/08/22 03:34 PM
1

I'm assuming the person in question would have described their circumstances already.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/08/22 03:32 PM

By asking the other person to describe their situation?
/r/PurplePillDebate25/08/22 03:21 PM

bruh I'm not a business that's a sovlless way of looking at human relationships
/r/PurplePillDebate25/08/22 03:18 PM
2

Do you know of any examples where a guy destroyed himself by focusing too much attention on finding someone?
/r/PurplePillDebate25/08/22 03:07 PM
1

It will depend on the man in question, so not every advice out there will apply to any random man. Ideally, you'd want to know more relevant information about someone, assess their situation, and propose actionable solutions. Sometimes a piece of advice can be frequently misapplied and this is an instance of it.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/08/22 03:05 PM
2

Right, but my point is that guys can focus on themselves and get nowhere in terms of finding someone suitable for them. That requires effort and deliberation on the part of the man.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/08/22 03:03 PM
1

A man in those circumstances should be directly told to go to the gym and study how other people talk, what upsets them, what humors them, etc. So, really, the advice should be "improve yourself by working on X, Z, and Z". I agree with you on your second point.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/08/22 02:33 PM
1

You just conceded that there is an appropriate time for this advice Yes and? I also followed up by saying it is frequently misapplied lol. I bet most FA men have personal lives outside of wanting a relationship. It's just that this one piece of the puzzle is missing from their life and it upsets them.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/08/22 02:30 PM
5

Maybe married women lol. Most hobbies are full of guys, even the ones you expect the least (like knitting).
/r/PurplePillDebate25/08/22 01:21 PM

Right, but to play disinterested you first have to be in a place where there are single women available.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/08/22 01:19 PM

Looksmaxxing, gymmaxxing, and moneymaxxing are good things to do. Not sure if hobbymaxxing would help though.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/08/22 12:47 PM

It's not just young women though, it's single women coupled with the fact that we have to be attracted to each other for us to hit off.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/08/22 12:13 PM
1

I can only see old men hanging out at my local pub and festivals will likely have drugs. I've attended several book fairs (not for the purpose of finding women, but books) and haven't seen any single girls in their early 20s there. I don't like going to concerts, I mostly prefer going outdoors.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/08/22 12:04 PM
1

Yeah, but what are the chances single women will be there? It's like I said: the demographics will mostly consist of old people, men looking for women, couples and married women. Some groups will consist exclusively of men, like the gym.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/08/22 11:59 AM
4

But what makes the people who give this advice think that the people who are lonely are suffering from this problem? Maybe they're like me and they've been "focusing on themselves" for several years until they realize they've never met anyone on the way.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/08/22 11:55 AM
5

The only place where I ever managed to "befriend" women of my age is school. If I try to befriend women in any other place it's seen as cringe and creepy.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/08/22 11:53 AM
9

I've been going out with my friends for several years for our own entertainment and we have never met any girls on the way. There's a reason why men have to deliberately go and look for potential mates. It doesn't happen naturally for most men.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/08/22 11:44 AM
13

I've looked through other posts here (on this subreddit and reddit as a whole) and I saw men here complain that virtually every activity is devoid of single women. The demographics of your average volunteering group seem to mostly consist of old people, couples, men looking for women and married women. It doesn't look like single women go out anywhere.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/08/22 10:46 AM
4

What if I'm already mentally well?
/r/PurplePillDebate25/08/22 10:30 AM
9

I'm not sure what "having oneself together" means. Men have to go out there and do something special to meet women. That's how it seems to work. Men are active while women are largely passive. Men initiate and approach and women either accept or reject their proposals. Telling a man to focus on himself doesn't work because no-one will approach him looking for a date.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/08/22 10:18 AM
3

Yeah, some men live in a desert lmao. I don't mean to say the fish should appear out of nowhere on the fisherman's plate, only that the people handing out advice like that don't understand the dynamics at play.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/08/22 10:06 AM
6

Yeah, sometimes it does just happen. I think brief interactions like "Hey, you wanna do X? Yeah, sure" count as instances of "it just happened."

1

How many men are supposed to be monks and priests though?
/r/PurplePillDebate25/08/22 09:50 AM

Sometimes you have to work on yourself if you want better chances of finding a mate. Working out, for example, is a common way for men to become more attractive.

What about all the massive cathedrals and churches men built for women? All the paintings, sculptures, poetry, novels, etc. dedicated to them?
/r/PurplePillDebate23/08/22 08:22 PM

A man is less likely to initiate a relationship with a woman if their personalities are incompatible. You only talked about what women find attractive in your previous post, but my statements applies to men as well.

I'm saying we shouldn't put forth tenuous explanations of present-day behavior by appealing to some far-forgotten unobservable past by constructing fundamentally arbitrary narratives. I think their cautiousness largely stems from a fear of them actually getting pregnant right now if something fails (e.g. contraception).

The word 'entitlement' is too lavishly used in these circles. I remember there was a comment on r/ForeverAlone about how "you aren't entitled to le this and that" when all the guys did in the thread was lament their loneliness. Could you clarify your fourth point?

How does this apply to sexual relations where contraception is used?
/r/PurplePillDebate17/08/22 11:12 PM

That's sexual selection. Belief in hypergamy isn't uncommon in these circles though.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/08/22 11:04 PM

I use 'loneliness' here to refer to the status of being without a partner, though I know it can also mean a general sense of alienation even in the presence of a large group of friends.

A lot of the times people say very stupid things when they're angry. I think these men whom you speak of are frustrated with their lot in life and decided to seek consolation by seeking answers on the internet. Sometimes these answers may be wrong and could lead them down into "dens of iniquity" where they come to all sorts of erroneous conclusions which drag them down further into the trap they've created for themselves. I think the solution to this problem is to advise people to implement acti…

They were wrong about that. Men and women have roughly equal sex drives, so it ultimately depends on the individual. But in women it manifests as a desire for passivity while for men it's a desire for activity.

It varies from region to region. The tallest people are in Herzegovina and Montenegro and the average male height is around 6'1" (186 cm). I'd wager the average height of a 21-year-old woman in Serbia, Bosnia, and Montenegro is around 170 cm. They're on par with Icelandic and Danish women in terms of height. I heard there are regional differences in the Netherlands as well with the Frisians being the tallest Dutchmen and Limburgians the shortest.

Hey, it's not like I'm only seeing this behavior online. That's why I added the comment about different countries because this will naturally depend on where you live.

It doesn't seem like the ban made much sense, but theybprobably viewed your post as gatekeeping, which is often frowned upon in these types of communities. For example, r/ForeverAlone has a rule that states no-one is allowed to make gatekeeping statements about who is and isn't alone. I think they introduced this rule because people often commented about how women can't be alone like men can, so the mods decided to decrease the amount of such comments. That's just my theory though. I had overall…

/r/PurplePillDebate10/08/22 10:43 PM

There is an excess of about 400,000 twenty-one year old men in the United States alone IIRC. The number of priests in the US is somewhere around 36,000, so it's not like all these men can enter the seminary.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/08/22 10:39 PM
1

LOL I couldn't help but chuckle at the beginning. I didn't intend to say that opposites of any characteristic will tend to attract each other, only the masculine and feminine aspect will attract each other. Physical attraction has very little to do with similar values or interests. A gamer girl could easily prefer a tall jock over a Doom speedrunner. Likewise, a conservative girl could prefer someone of lesser morals (in her eyes) over a guy who sings for the church choir. Saying that something …

Did you read the last line in my post? The one about the egg and the sperm. I said there that the egg can make it easier for the sperm to travel towards it, but the egg itself never actively hunts the sperm. It's the same with women. They may make it easier for certain men to approach them, but they will never directly ask them out.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/08/22 02:13 AM

I think they give us a solid foundation. Appeals to culture will fail because there can be millions of men in a culture and yet they can have varying tastes in women.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/08/22 02:09 AM
1

What do you think of my two proposed rules I shared in my post?
/r/PurplePillDebate06/08/22 01:10 AM
1

I don't know if the word "soul" is appropriate as we're discussing physical attraction, I think maybe "personality" would be more fitting. I guess I should go ahead and ask if you: do you believe each person has an immutable essence to them?
/r/PurplePillDebate06/08/22 01:00 AM
1

Well, it doesn't prove that necessarily, I think it rather points to the fact that the way we manifest our desires can be changed. And the topic of trauma is frankly a prickly subject to take on, so that's why I don't think I can say much about it in this medium. You can't simply experience one of these events without there already being something inside you that reacts positively to it.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/08/22 12:55 AM
1

No shit. And these things play into the subconscious, which where a lot of our sexual attraction lies. What does this lead us to conclude? Or maybe a series of events can instill then re-enforce ideas of attraction that later manifest as genuine subconscious attraction. How do you distinguish between invasive influence and genuine attraction?
/r/PurplePillDebate06/08/22 12:40 AM
1

We can only love what we perceive are perfections, so naturally I agree with you
/r/PurplePillDebate06/08/22 12:37 AM
1

I mentioned earlier that such measuring-sticks of beauty will often fail because they ignore diversity in taste, especially among men. That's why I think the rules I brought up in my post will fare better than what people usually bring forth because they're more general.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/08/22 12:29 AM
1

So we both accept the diversity of taste as a given. That's good to know. The two examples you brought up, namely, people being turned off from particular qualities or types as a result of trauma, and events that stimulate a lifelong interest in something deserve separate treatments. I'll start by saying that I think traumatic events that turn off a person from a certain quality or type seem to happen largely in childhood. So, you won't see a guy being turned off from busty women just because he…
/r/PurplePillDebate06/08/22 12:27 AM
1

LOL, I just talked about that with another fellow on here. How do you explain men who like women with broad shoulders?
/r/PurplePillDebate06/08/22 12:01 AM
1

I guess you can call it that, yes. What convinced you of that?
/r/PurplePillDebate05/08/22 11:55 PM
1

I'm saying you can't change something as fundamental as a person's preferences simply by surrounding them with media that tries to uphold a different ideal of beauty. The only way that's going to work is if something already within the person is willing to accept the influence to some degree and that means the internal factor retains its importance. People who try to invent measuring-sticks by which they can measure a person's beauty (e.g. "waist-to-hip-ratio" of a woman) fail to consider that t…
/r/PurplePillDebate05/08/22 11:46 PM
1

Yes. You can't change something that is deep-seated with media content. Things of a deeper and primal nature can't be changed with TV shows or billboard adverts. How would that even be possible?
/r/PurplePillDebate05/08/22 11:31 PM
1

I'm thinking of the latter definition. That's why I stated earlier that culture (or customs and social behavior) can only influence how an individual express their likes but not their preferences in themselves. It's a superficial effect at best, not a deep one.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/08/22 11:18 PM
1

Well, what do you understand by the term?
/r/PurplePillDebate05/08/22 11:14 PM
1

Culture has little impact on an individual. What it may does is limit a person's choice to a few options which means someone will choose the option which suits them the best out of the options given, not necessarily universally. I hope that made sense. In other words, I don't believe it has a deep effect on an individual's likes.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/08/22 11:11 PM
1

I think the factors you've mentioned are mostly the ways in which we manifest our likes. I can't know for certain if I love a specific type of woman if I've never even conceived of it.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/08/22 11:08 PM
1

This is more or less a subject of psychology. I don't think culture has much of an effect on who people find attractive, it might help an individual to specify their vague feelings, but it won't make them attracted to completely different people.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/08/22 11:04 PM
1

That doesn't refute the fact that play the passive role in sexual dynamics. People understood this even in 400 BCE.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/08/22 11:03 PM
1

Rules can be made about subjective phenomena as well. I think the "objective" vs "subjective" terminology is causing unnecessary trouble in this discussion.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/08/22 11:58 PM
3

I don't get it. What specifically have you observed that made you draw those conclusions? Yes, attraction is subjective. What attracts one person would disgust another. But I don't see how the fact of diversity and variance disproves the possibility of formulating any sort of rules about sexuality.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/08/22 11:55 PM
1

What convinced you of that?
/r/PurplePillDebate04/08/22 11:48 PM
1

Human dynamics that involve volition will never be dictated by rules, but we're not talking about that. We're talking about stuff that seemingly even animals and plants are subject to — attraction.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/08/22 11:44 PM
1

Can you think of any concrete examples?
/r/PurplePillDebate04/08/22 06:53 PM
1

What are the exceptions?
/r/PurplePillDebate04/08/22 06:47 PM
2

How? I think you can get cases of where they apply by simply looking at people's features.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/08/22 06:38 PM
3

Why can't the examples I mentioned be counted as rules?
/r/PurplePillDebate04/08/22 06:31 PM
1

What counts as a rule?
/r/PurplePillDebate04/08/22 06:20 PM
1

We can't control our own taste though.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/08/22 05:42 PM
2

Of course, but laws govern individual things as well.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/08/22 05:38 PM
2

Conventional wisdom is called wisdom for a reason. It often contains a dim awareness of some deeper truth. Both examples I provided can colloquially speaking be called rules. "Trope" doesn't cover it.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/08/22 05:37 PM
1

How else can we explain differences in taste?
/r/PurplePillDebate04/08/22 05:34 PM
2

Obviously, but that's not what I'm asking. I wanna know if we can discover laws from observed trends.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/08/22 05:30 PM
2

Can we infer rules from those trends?
/r/PurplePillDebate04/08/22 05:26 PM

I'll borrow your football example to explain how I view these situations. Personally I am not much of a big fan of football specifically, but if someone were to invite me to play a match or two, I would be down for it. So, it's not a thing I'm very interested in, but I would be willing to engage in it nonetheless. There's plenty of activities that I could see myself doing without having a deep-seated interest in them. And sometimes there are such pleasures of a general nature, like walking, that…

My most "feminine" hobby would probably have to be literature. It would be nice to have someone I could share stories with but it's not a necessity for a ltr.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/08/22 01:00 AM

Unless the person gives an account of how their beliefs and attitudes changed, that is.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/06/22 06:27 PM

Someone's behavior can change after a number of failures. Even non-human animals are subject to this law.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/06/22 06:18 PM

It's because those are the features masculine men and feminine women tend to have. Muscles, for example, are a male secondary sexual characteristic and women will tend to gravitate towards men with muscles.
