I became too rich to divorce and I feel trapped. It is what it is. | /r/Divorce_Men | 16/01/25 04:11 AM
Almost there… regrets? You’re right. It’s amazing how much control she has, even at this stage. It’s exhausting. | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/01/25 04:40 AM
Almost there… regrets?Well, she uses guilt masterfully. Despite everything, she still says it’s up to me to “fix the family” and take her offer of therapy. Ugh. | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/01/25 04:38 AM
Almost there… regrets? That’s interesting. I chatted with her for about a week, sometimes hours at a time. And we ended up going around and around. She’s begging me to reconsider but I don’t think she can honestly tell me why I won’t. It’s weird. | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/01/25 04:37 AM
Almost there… regrets?That's the killer instinct I'm lacking. | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/01/25 02:34 AM
Almost there… regrets?I've wondered this. I've asked her what it is that she "gets" and I don't even think she knows, she just realizes that I'm gone and not coming back. I think you're right, if there's a way to save the marriage and make it work you need to try it, because divorce is utterly debilitating. But I guess the question, maybe never answered, is "did I do enough"? When I sign that divorce settlement, did I do enough? How do you live with that question? | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/01/25 02:31 AM
First night in new apartmentI remember that feeling, the first night away. I just walked around the apartment going ... "whoa".... You'll settle in. | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/01/25 02:27 AM
First night in new apartmentHahahaha.... I can relate. The good news is that you move through that stage (at least I did) and start to value other things again, but it's a fun stage to be in for a while.... | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/01/25 02:26 AM
Struggling with Mixed Signals and Toxic Patterns During DivorceBrother… I’m in the middle of the same. She filed, she was horrible, now that I’m moving on (steady GF, no longer playing her games) she’s gone all in on the guilt saying she never wanted a divorce, how can I do this to the family, blah blah. Here’s the thing: divorce is fucking brutal. It’s brutal on us, it’s brutal on her, and we all do things that we would second guess later, just because our compass is so fucked up. But hold strong, don’t jump back into the circus, and we’ll see you on the o… | /r/Divorce_Men | 23/11/24 09:57 AM
Open Letter to My WifeUgh, this was a hard read. So many similar feelings. I got married young, and realized I was utterly and completely controlled by her moods and her opinions on how our lives were to go. I know EXACTLY what you mean when you thought about not having your phone on the run. Ugh, I’m so ptsd right now you can’t believe. Getting out when you’re that controlled is the hardest thing you will ever do. I made some horrible decisions and will pay for those the rest of my life, but I’m out. The wives will … | /r/Divorce_Men | 17/08/24 01:03 PM
Open Letter to My WifeNo, that’s not true. It’s a label given to those of us who have unresolved emotional trauma and are afraid to relive the pain in our next relationship, so we pull away when we get too close to someone. Nobody wants to STAY avoidant attachment… it’s a season in a long life…. | /r/Divorce_Men | 17/08/24 12:57 PM
Don’t know what to do, need great advice! And it’s hard because S-corp income is considered support eligible income, which means she can use all that profit as a basis for spousal support. I’m in a similar situation, so the highest earning year of my life was the year she filed. Fucking brutal. | /r/Divorce_Men | 29/01/24 09:14 AM
Met with Ex After 7 MonthsWhen you been emotionally abused by someone, it’s amazing how talking to them or being with them just takes it all out of you. For the first few months during the divorce, every time I would get a text I would lay on the couch for hours. It takes a lot of work to recover yourself. Nice work bro. | /r/Divorce_Men | 29/01/24 04:53 AM
Met with STBXWI'm with you on this. I've had two meetings with the STBX in the 15 months we've been going through the divorce, and every time I just walk away amazed at how disconnected from reality she is. Luckily we got out most of our angst over text over the 15 months (and it got really ugly), but meeting her in person now is just weird. Just protect yourself, maybe record the interactions with your phone, and remember that you're the sane one. | /r/Divorce_Men | 26/01/24 02:46 PM
She's already leveraging our kids on dating appsSex work? Where does that come in? | /r/Divorce_Men | 26/01/24 02:43 PM
Back and ForthCouple of things here: First, the divorce will be exponentially harder than you think it will be. It will shred your family, your friendships, your finances and leave you floating in life like Major Tom floats outside his space capsule. As for assets, depending on the status of the mortgage, you may not be able to give her the house if the mortgage is in your name, and since interest rates are so much higher, you may have to sell the family home. See "Exponentially Harder" above. But sometimes s… | /r/Divorce_Men | 26/01/24 02:40 PM
