I've often said, "Kink is fine until it masks abuse - and the kink community is ripe with mental gymnastics that justify abusing your partner in the name of sex." And it worries me how many people get very offended by this. This kind of thing should never have been normalized. Lingerie? Fine. Role play? Sure thing. Drowning your partner and busting out razor blades to cut them? You don't need a vagina/penis, you need extensive therapy.

I agree with the point here, but even the most lady-taxed, bougie pink Secret Labs chair is $600. And those headphones are about $100. And I know no one asked this, but those headphones are legit. Turtle beaches are the actual red flag, as they're used really by COD players only. However, those chairs are very uncomfy and a complete rip off. lol They're only popular thanks to gaming streamers and competitive esports. So if anything, it's worth disqualifying that man from your dating pool since h…

Below is about investing in the stock market. Whether or not you should go this route over other investment vehicles is a discussion on its own and that should be done via a financial advisor. For the US at least, different investment vehicles have different tax implications, and they can make a huge difference in your after-tax profits from investing. In short: Don't invest money you're not ok to lose ETF's/index funds/mutual funds are considered significantly safer than single stocks "FAANG" s…

Inline with this, in Marvel's "What If..?" series, there's an episode where Peggy gets the super solider serum instead of Steve Rodgers and she becomes Captain Britain. The way she's depicted made me so proud I actually teared up many times that episode. She's a beast, knows it, and will happily put a man in his place. As for romantic interests - despite the fact that Steve is now smaller than her, they continue having a relationship and he genuinely loves her and looks out for her, but not in a…

There are definitely women out there who act like they've mastered romantic relationships all because they're married or are going to be soon. And props to them that they've found something that works for them. Tho something to keep in mind is that we're all different. Their standards, preferences, and relationship goals will probably not be the same as your own. And that is okay. I have discovered over time that women who try and tear down their friend's standards for dating have something deep…

Me stating a very simple boundary puts me in literally no danger. There's no manipulation to be had here. If a man tries to take me on a coffee/walk date, I wish them well and unmatch or block and delete. It truly is that simple. As for all the other "what if's" - I'd just laugh and drop him. I'm not here to be a foster girlfriend and teach a man how to date a woman. I'm just out here seeing who can read and meet me at my level.

Tbh, I'm not entirely sure if I'd actually agree to go out on a date with a guy who picked a touristy spot yet. Anyone who I've actually setup dates with has offered dinner. And some of them have put in so much effort that it's hard to go back to free interview dates. It's worth mentioning that the place I live has the largest and main attractions as free tourist spots. I can't give examples since you'd be able to guess the location after literally any hint.

TFW the standard is, "make literally any kind of effort" and 3/4ths of all men are like, "yes, but what if I didn't...?" And then queue the surprised-pikachu.gif when they get unmatched.

"No spouse, no house," is a good rule of thumb. He'd come for that house the moment you left him. Don't go in with someone to a mortgage unless you're married, so you have some legal protection incase it goes south.

In my days before therapy, meds, FDS, etc etc, I had a very similar thing happen. Met a man who doted on me left and right. He seemed perfect. Met his family, we got along. All things seemed fine. Yeet him out of your life. Some men will act super sweet until they know they have you, and then their true colors come out. He's an emotionally abusive piece of crap and he probably gets off on the idea of breaking you down into submission - I've had a few exes like this. He's not worth another minute of your time. I'm on the fence about pinning this down to porn. There's a lot here. His wife might have postpartum or something, or have had the "husband stitch" or something that made sex painful and is too embarrassed to talk to her husband. Or maybe, the husband is not living up to his writing here and is making her feel like crap on the regular. Or ya know, just him not being a proper dad and chalking that up to "women's duties" is just killing her interest in him. Like others have said, this definitely f…

I've had men seriously arrive to the conclusion of, "this woman has experienced abuse, she likes me, and therefore, I must be abusive and awful because she is damaged." I am so over men thinking they're not shit for not going to therapy, and judging me because I do. These same types always unload random details about pain points in their life to me too. Anyone who justifies abuse as kink gives me the heebie jeebies. Spanking and whatnot, yea sure, whatever. But the whole pissing on someone, contractual "you will be my slave" thing, bloodplay, all that noise? Yea, that type doesn't need to put their dick in anything - they need a therapist and a few years of weekly sessions. My stance on all this is that I just want the freedom to look however I want. Sometimes I wanna look super done up, so I do my makeup and nails and hair and etc etc. Other days, I wanna wear PJs and not give a rip. Just do whatever you wanna do and don't look down on others for their choices. 🤷‍♀️

If you flipped the genders around, it's still massively toxic. Could you imagine your man being like, "I fell in love with this one, despite her looks. I know that's not the norm, but it can happen! Girls, aim for any man you want!" I'd break up with someone on the spot if they tried that shit. You're not winning anything by "dating down" and then "bragging" about it. You're just destroying someone's self confidence.

Firstoff, I'm sorry this happened to you. Some things you should do asap: - dump him - block and delete him from your contacts, insta, facebook, etc - go to a doctor and get treatment. Chlamydia puts you at risk for PID, and even more so if you have an IUD And if I were in your shoes, I'd get a therapist to help me process this. Yep. This honestly didn't click for me really hard until this incident. Previously, I would have given a man the benefit of doubt when it came to his friends, but not anymore. If a man's entire close friends group is made of absolute fucking disasters of people, idc anymore. I'm yeeting them out of my life. I'm a 9 or 10 (if you stretch one of the criteria to be "parents tried putting you in jail multiple times") on the ACEs scale. I'm super hardwired to go after horrible dudes. Everything in my body tends to favor a sexy hot mess of a man over someone responsible and kind. I strongly recommend therapy and really getting to the roots of your intuition/attractions, and then challenging it. For me, this process has taken about 3 years and some medication. These days, I actually go after nice men who …

I've had a similar thing happen. This is another stupid thing that boys have picked up from porn. Luckily, I was still competing in jiujitsu and was really strong at the time and knew I could break the guys arms if I really felt like it. And doubly luckily, I think the guy knew that and was considerate when I blurted out, "what are you doing?" I was rather pissed at him, tho with a touch of "why would you even think that was a good idea?" It amazes me that chokes have become a thing during sex. …

One of my exes was a porn addict. It was so bad. I was young and stupid, so I didn't realize how unnatural it was at the time. He would jerk off multiple times a day. He could only cum in a certain, rather painful, position, where he could watch MULTIPLE screens of porn at once while basically jackhammering me for 20+ minutes. He'd constantly complain about my body, my vagina, etc. He'd go soft almost instantly after getting an erection. It was soooooooo bad. We had the definition of a dead bedr…

Unsolicited advice to pair with this post: for dinner dates with friends, make it a "wear the dress in your closet you never get to wear" event. The staff with fawn over you guys, ya'll get to see each other while you're fancy af, and everyone likes looking nice. Us ladies know how to dress up. You don't have to worry about offending an insecure man date with your heels or possibly being "overdressed." All the wins, without any of the usual cons. 11/10, would do again.

I also thought the same way as the first Tweet for the longest time. Eventually, I came to the painful realization that my own rape at 13 was not my fault - I just wanted to tell myself that had I done something different, I would not have been the victim. A lot of things were wrong in my life at 13. I found a predatory teenage boy 3 years older than me, and I trusted him more than I should have. I remember victim blaming other women until my early 20s. Eventually, it clicked for me that I was j…

Why the fuck do women put up with all of this shit? I'm not sure if you meant this as a rhetorical question, but incase you didn't: imo, the only thing that could possibly have more hormonal side-effects for me would be getting pregnant. Condoms are great and all, but I've had condoms come off inside me and a few break, and Plan B is a special kind of hell, both physically and mentally. Two things come to mind: have strong boundaries and don't let people cross them instead of helping people 20 years older than you navigate their "polyamorous" affair that caused both of their marriages (with kids!) to fail, do literally anything else. Pretty sure I could have ran for Congress or some shit with the amount of stress and mental gymnastics I had to do on a daily basis. I guess technically #2 is an extension of #1, but I digress. lol

This is a mostly US-centric answer. I've done this. I was not born into money, and I worked for the money I have today. I've lived in a myriad of places. Rural US places, US cities, and oddly, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. From all my moves, I gotta say, it's really just what you make of it. I think you should always go and try something new if you want something different. Worst case - you hate it and can't make it work, so then you just try something new again. No harm, no foul. In this specific context, I agree with everything you said. My only two cents to add - which is very tangential to your specific point - is that sometimes, people do have valid triggers that, while a business should *not* be required to meet them, if you personally are in close contact with that person, you should probably try to work around them. For example, I tend not to do well if people are screaming, and I will go into a weird state if a woman is screaming. My way of handling this is usual…

Curious question to all ladies here. For this item: If he doesn't want you to meet his family, he's hiding something. Flip the pronouns here, and this is me. I don't like introducing my SO to my family. My family is and was very abusive and misogynistic. I gave this a bit of thought after first reading it, as I wasn't sure how I addressed this at first. Therapy has helped me in many ways, but the major way it has helped me is with a mindset shift. You might be able to manage with a good nail strengthener. I use OPI's one - it's similar to a clear, base coat. I use it after every other shower. Granted, my nails aren't acrylic-levels of long, but they're not clipped super short anymore. I also trim the outsides of my nails so they're at a slight angle that helps them look a bit neater, and I just file the tops completely straight. I think the only reason I'm not diagnosed with specifically that variant is because it's not in the DSM-5. Though, I would not be surprised if that was a closer diagnosis. My therapist and psychiatrist have been able to successfully find treatments for me based on the diagnosis they've given me tho, so at least there's that. It is genuinely difficult to rebuild a support system, especially now. I hope that with the vaccines being rolled out, things improve in that department for everyone.

You need to be way more proud of yourself. A PhD?! That's amazing! Who gives a rip if you haven't dated in a year or gained weight - that's practically everyone right now. And give yourself grace for your past. Would you be that harsh to a friend? ;P I don't think you would. Talk to yourself as a friend. I'll try to take your advice as well. I do need to be more gracious and patient with myself...

Congrats! That's huge. I hope you have people around you now who remind you how awesome you are on the regular. Coming out of those situations is not easy.

Routinely doing things for myself first (personal development, exercise, self care) before trying to fix things for others. I've never tried this exact thing before, but as someone else who commonly dons a caretaker-esque role in almost all my relationships, romantic and platonic, I definitely need to. Thanks for the idea!

That said, this bit here: Like WTF I don't want ANYONE ELSE to get an IUD because it's so traumatic and painful. An IUD is one of the best defenses against ge…

Call his parents. That's what I did. I called them and I told them that they need to sort their son out since he was - in my case - threatening to harm himself and being very, very awful toward me on the regular. Fucker moved out the next day.

I suffer from PTSD, as diagnosed by 2 different psychiatrists and my therapist, as I was desperately hoping things weren't that bad for me. I grew up basically only knowing this "trauma bond" that you speak of, and my early adult years were a hoot. If you only know trauma, you think it's normal, and you find a way to keep it going. Normalcy for me back then was boring - I was addicted to the highs and lows of at least emotionally abusive relationships. There's not a single pill that will break y…

Seven or so years ago, I was in a very similar situation as you. I'm glad you're getting out. You deserve so much better, and there's much better men out there. <3

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
