I'd have to see these statistics because chances are men are the victims of different kinds of violent crime & chances are being at night increases those chances especially for women. Also where are those statistics from, they might be different wherever this is. Also, also, how would this be implemented gender-neutrally? btw elsewhere in these comments I said that that "WHITES ONLY" sign probably had a "BLACKS ONLY" counterpart & there's nothing to say we're not seeing the equivalent of that

So what about Female Privilege? How about you first get rid of that? I fucking hate you people, it took you at the very absolute most a fucking minute to type that & now I have to spend 10 minutes explaining the concept of privilege & how & why it's used in a feminist context, in fact this goes for the rest of this, you put clearly put no fucking effort into making an argument & instead you just fucking regurgitate talking points & blabber whatever sounds good, I want you to be very keenly aware…

A relevant thing I heard about privilege is that it's not about what you get but about what you don't have to deal with, following that things the women have to deal with: - higher chance of being raped - not only has that suicide statistic changed, back when it was true women committed suicide more often - women are often assumed to be less competent - women are shamed more for their sexuality - rape culture, pick up artistry, etc. 9 times out of 10 is targeted at women This is a big part of my…

Also I found this in the comments of the original post: Pretty sure it began in India to prevent women getting attacked in lots. Quite a common issue there. The European and US ones aren't actually enforced but have emergency buttons and brighter lights. I don't know many women who feel safe walking alone in a dark empty parking garage though-- maybe they should just incorporate the buttons in regular parking garages instead

What's the context?, 'cause it could be like a womens' gym or gay bar type of situation where women are being harassed in these places, also that "WHITES ONLY" sign likely had a "BLACKS ONLY" counterpart, what's to say we're not seeing the equivalent of that?

No most you just pretended you'd never heard of. You gave me a list of negative male-gendered terms & I responded by saying I didn't know about 3 of them & for the rest I asked if there were any negative female phenomena that didn't have feminist names, if you keep up this dishonesty I'm going. "Men tend to do bad things because of it.", which I said in reference to gender roles, it's not that women are victims & men are oppressors it's that out concepts of gender force them into those roles.
/r/MensRights19/07/19 07:47 PM

Of course there's no global conspiracy & whether or not the patriarchy is real depends on what you think it is (although given that it's being framed as different from a global conspiracy it's probably more real than you think), but this's isn't about any of that, this's about male privilege which is definitely real & not disproved by the existence of male-specific problems.

I found you many examples. & to them I have responded And you've clearly bought in to the feminist propaganda that women are victims and men are oppressors. No, but gender roles strip agency from women. you think men are bad because of these things. When did I say I think men are bad?
/r/MensRights19/07/19 12:37 PM
1

Feminists never create terms that portray women in a negative way. But whenever they have a gendered term for men it's designed to make men seem shitty. A:The way gender roles in our society are set up women tend to have bad things done to them because of it & men tend to do bad things because of it. B:Can you find any other example of this?

That's the most mot-&-Bailey ass shit I've ever seen, no I'm talking about feminists doing stuff as ridiculous as saying that fireman instead of fireperson devastates future firefighting careers of women. If used to say that all men are toxic. using "society" as a dodge to avoid incriminating "women" Your profile says that you're active in r/MGTOW so I'm starting to think you just really hate women. No the actual reason is that they want to associate toxicity with men, not women. Do you have a rebuttal to my reasons? I'm sorry you're brain is too small to comprehend ideas outside of your worldview but what I actually said was that it's toxic to tell someone who they should be based on sex, which if you had listening & comprehension skills beyond a 10-year-old you'd know that includes femininity.

Oh I see, so the thing is that feminists have been working against toxic femininity since, well, basically since they've existed, & I think as with many things in life there are a variety of factors that, individually, explain nothing but together make sense as a reason: - the ways in which gender roles for men & women are different can often make it seem much more imposed when on women - toxic femininity has gone by other names like "harmful gender roles" because that's basically what feminism …

To clarify: those other than men can induce, encourage, cause, etc. toxic masculinity, but they cannot display it themselves.

there is no masculinity except for the toxic kind. You listen when I say that but not when I say "IN A WAY" & when I explain myself, curious. You-- not "society"-- think there is no masculinity except for the toxic kind. Did I short circuit you or some shit? When did I say that society thinks that. "There is no masculinity, only toxins." Errrrrrrr, what I actually said was that telling someone how to act based on sex is toxic.

Not what I said & not what I believe.
/r/MensRights18/07/19 03:23 AM

Ahh, there we go: there is no masculinity apart from the toxic kind. I said "in a way" in all caps & bolded & explained how my ideas were much not nuanced & reasonable than "all men are toxic", you fucking retard.
/r/MensRights18/07/19 03:22 AM

This is sad, you're desperately searching for reasons to think I'm condescending in a very condescending manner. Dude, that's just how I talk & that's just how I write, I'm not tryin'a be funny or mess shit up, I just talk that way & as such write that way. This is conspiracy-theory thinking.
/r/MensRights18/07/19 03:20 AM
1

There can sometimes be overemphasis on the individual, yes, but that's not a misunderstanding of the concept just of the solution, & many people do often point it out when people promote it rather than just when people do it, & there are plenty of people talking about & promoting the idea that we should change our ideas of masculinity & a great many of them use that term.
/r/MensRights18/07/19 03:16 AM
1

I'm going to be charitable & assume you mean that the term is often used in sexist ways, to which I say: yes, but it's important to have terms for these concepts & we shouldn't let some people ruin them for us. On I side-note I'm semiconvinced that "toxic femininity" should be used more often & more feminist circles.
/r/MensRights18/07/19 03:08 AM

Impersonal SOCIETY Yes, it's not the fault of any one person, group, or demographic. Genderless SOCIETY Yes, both men & women do this. You're so hilariously predictable Blind people can see the irony in that sentence.

/r/MensRights18/07/19 02:59 AM

But that's not what the term is though, it doesn't just describe negative men it describes negative traits that (from the worldview of most users of the term) men often have & that exist in men because some part of them being raised masculine was harmful.
/r/MensRights18/07/19 02:58 AM

Women can't be ... also? Of course they can but society considers it a masculine trait so for these contexts it is masculine.
/r/MensRights18/07/19 02:55 AM

Yes.
/r/MensRights18/07/19 02:51 AM
1

They're also vague, meaningless terms-- not more accurate A:which society it is is always very well implied & B:I consider them more accurate because for the most the blame doesn't fall on any individual or individual demographic But you have no problem saying "men" in the same context. The rest of your repetitive rhetoric would be acceptable say for the fact that you were & are screeching down my throat in the most condescending manner possible, but this is just a fucking strawman.
/r/MensRights18/07/19 02:51 AM
1

Perhaps I should've explained a little better, "toxic femininity" is infinitely more likely to be used in the context of hate speech.
/r/MensRights18/07/19 02:43 AM
1

There are 2 definitions of masculinity: First: the biological construct involving a set of physical characteristics that tend to cluster forming one half of the bimodal reproductive roles seen in humans & many other species. & secondly: the social construct that is the expectations put on people of the aforementioned biological role, it varies widely from time period & location but the 3 main qualities that comprise it in our culture are physical strength, stoicness, & outgoingness.
/r/MensRights18/07/19 02:41 AM
1

They would be gender neutral traits but our culture associates them with masculinity so when discussing social constructs they are masculine. Although I will say this: telling someone what traits they should have based on sex is kinda toxic, so IN A WAY the only nontoxic masculinity is the possession of a penis & XY chromosomes.

I think you're overestimating how much it's used in that way, especially since whenever the subject comes up the phrase "toxic masculinity hurts both men & women" or something equivalent at least once. There is nothing offensive about the term jew, but if you put dirty next to it it would become an antisemitic slur because of how one modifies the other. There are number ways in which that comparison isn't really accurate: firstly the phrase isn't "toxic men" it's "toxic masculinity", masculinity…

No, I would say there are different schools of thought in feminism and over time their good ideas congeal with their bad ones. Interesting, although I know for a fact that at least some feminists hold the more nuanced position. /r/MensRights17/07/19 11:23 PM

Yes, you responded by saying that women's demands on men are actually SOCIETY'S demands on men. Yes, the only reason women often demand certain traits of men is because society in general demands them of men.

Positive traits include things outgoingness, confidence, & strength (of course those obviously have the potential to manifest negatively), it's possible to express most if not all masculine traits without it being toxic but that doesn't mean we should force those traits onto people based on sex or withhold them based on sex, the concepts masculinity & femininity shouldn't exist because there's no good reason to tell people what traits they should have based on their sex.

I really don't know what you're talking about here, if I'm to be ridiculously generous the only thing that you could be talking about is when people tell their life stories of growing up in toxic environments at, like, Ted Talks & they talk a lot about how their dad either said & did toxically masculine things or encouraged toxic masculinity in them, but in those things they rarely ever mention the term toxic masculinity.
/r/MensRights17/07/19 12:49 PM

Also the toxic need to reaffirm masculinity occurs in other ways, most often in "for men" products.

Bullshit. Depends on where you live. & bullshit.

I think there are 2 main reasons why harmful female gender roles aren't called toxic femininity, firstly that feminism is primarily concerned getting rid of female gender roles (since women are the ones out on bottom by gender roles) although they kinda have to destroy male gender roles in the process, & that brings me to my second reason which is that gender roles for women are more tied to their relationship with men. That said I'm starting to think we should actually call it toxic femininity.

Before I begin ripping this to shreds I'd like to say that you've been nothing but a fucking asshole to me despite the fact that I 'be been way nicer to you than I have with just about anyone else I've argued with. I see! Fascinating. Oh my that's profound. Is that a rude way of asking for examples or are you just laughing at me? And you reached this hard but factual conclusion from the opinioneering of your Gender Studies 101 textbook, no doubt. This is actually an opinion that I've reached by …

Domestic violence, male suicide, and sexual assault are complex I didn't say domestic violence or sexual assault. But male suicide can at least partially be traced to toxic masculinity, check it: firstly men (used to) commit suicide more often but women attempt suicide more often because men tend to use more dangerous means of suicide which can be traced back to macho culture, secondly one contributor to male suicide is very likely emotional repression: toxic masculinity, thirdly... fuck, I had …

Should "toxic femininity" be considered hate speech? Sorry if this's a little pedantic but I think that saying toxic femininity or calling something toxic femininity can be hate speech given the right context.

domestic violence, male suicide, and sexual assault Those ain't the causes, they're the effects. Btw higher male suicide is caused by toxic masculinity in several ways.

you think we're just evil morons who badly need your corrections I don't, I think IF you believe that but say you're for men's' issues that's dumb. Why must we use a concept that we find to be fatally flawed? Because just about all of mens' problems on a societal level trace (often very directly) back to toxic masculinity. which parts of the eeevil "toxic masculinity" social construct are a direct result of women's demands upon men? Most of the ones that can be said to be a result of womens' dem…

What are you talking about?
/r/MensRights17/07/19 03:13 AM

Most any generalization starting with "real men", a massive portion of rape culture, as well as need to reaffirm masculinity often resulting in homophobia & many of the problems caused by "real men" statements.

Toxic masculinity means the aspects of masculinity that are (considered to be) toxic.
/r/MensRights17/07/19 02:55 AM

Oh I see. You agree that when a human without a penis acts a certain way, they didn't do so as a result of toxic masculinity No.
/r/MensRights17/07/19 02:54 AM

Okay, I was sorta looking to argue when I posted this, because I find it contradictory to advocate for mens' issues & not like the term toxic masculinity.

Why do we have scantily clad women in movies? Toxic masculinity? Buying a girl a drink? Toxic masculinity. In those examples it's the reasons & manifestation of those things that matter. Be careful with your assumptions. Sorry.
/r/MensRights17/07/19 02:13 AM

The definition is the aspects of the social construct of masculinity that are toxic, so unless those aspects appear because one was socialized to be masculinity then it's not toxic masculinity.
/r/MensRights17/07/19 02:09 AM

I hate the term because it implies that men are responsible for toxic masculinity Errrr, the definition of toxic masculinity is the aspects of the social construct of masculinity that are toxic. The issue is that women also tend to promote toxic masculinity. Why is that an issue? The rest of this seems pretty reasonable, although I don't think antimale rhetoric is that common.
/r/MensRights17/07/19 02:07 AM

Toxic masculinity by definition can't appear in people other than men or more specifically people raised as men , although it's aspects can appear in other groups.

Fair, however what I'm trying to say is that that term is not inherently tied to genocidal feminism, not in concept & not in usage. (although the latter is probably because genocidal feminists are not very common)
/r/MensRights17/07/19 01:36 AM

All the things that fall under "toxic masculinity", women are just as guilty of doing. Example? and they blame it on our gender. When people struggle with emotional issues because of stuff like "real men don't cry" it apparently has nothing to do with gender.
/r/MensRights17/07/19 01:33 AM
1

My thoughts? When you ask these people to describe how they envision non-toxic masculinity would look, they basically end up describing women. Or, at the very least, the "toxic" aspects of masculinity are those which are not subordinate to women's needs. Could you give me an example?

I'm not sure what those excessive apostrophes are supposed to be about, but whatever. There are only 3 apostrophes. items are not similarly treated when manifesting in, say, butch lesbians or Islamic fundamentalists or female teachers who rape underage students. What do you mean by that?, because if you mean it's not called toxic masculinity then that makes sense(except in the case of Islamic fundamentalists).
/r/MensRights17/07/19 01:28 AM

The term toxic masculinity is not specific to genocidal feminism, in fact most content creators I follow are feminist, most of them have used the term toxic masculinity, & not a single one has advocated genocide.

it often isn't how the term would be applied What do you mean? Essentially the source and common usage poison the term, preventing it from being anything useful. So basically you would like it if not for the fact that it was created by feminists.

Okay, I concede somewhat. Also mansplaining is when a man explains something to a woman(often in a condescending manner) not because she asked or acted confused etc. but because he assumed she didn't know.

Really? Take job deaths for example, from my understanding it's something you people talk about a lot: more men die on the job, why?: well more men are in these jobs(something feminists want to change), why are more men in these dangerous jobs?: well men are expected to be the breadwinners, why?: male dominance, I hope you see my logic here.

Objectification? Men must make money, men are mere objects of utility that have to be useful to women You could make the EXACT same argument in the other direction, because men face problems from patriarchy doesn't mean that women don't. There is no evidence to support the contention that game design causes the objectification of women. As far as I know there's been no research on this, but there has been research to prove that media shapes our opinions & women are often portrayed in sexist ways…

The first one is that feminism is a multi-faced movement encompassing many different opinions, some of them not compatible with others Which's why I said mainstream. "I'm not a feminist because I support gender equality", which says a lot about how confusing and heterogeneous feminism has become I think that says more about the public image of feminism. there is overwhelming evidence that there is no systematic gender discrimination on salaries Could you show me some of that evidence?, I mean ev…

/r/MensRights08/07/19 11:17 PM

I don't understand how that makes me a hypocrite, I think your logic is that BBC is a left-wing news source(not true) & that that's synonymous with feminism(not true) & that admitting that men face male-specific problems disproves feminism(not true) & through that logic you reach the conclusion that all feminists say this(not true) & are therefore hypocrites, for the love of god correct me if I'm wrong because for once in my life I hope that I am.

If I saw a feminist doing something misandrist I'd denounce it & point out that they're harming the movement. maNsPlayInG!, MAnSpreAding! You know those are real things, right? Gamers are objectifiers Somewhat of a strawman, the actual point made by many feminists is that sexist aspects of video games encourage objectification. showing that people didn't like the Feminist label even if they were pro-equal rights That's because the term feminism has been stigmatized by reactionary propaganda.
