We do know better, the literature is not in this persons favour. Even our 101 classes these days have parts dedicated to how very wrong this person is. But you get doctors who advocate crazy things like smoking ect based on personal feelings rather than the scientific work. Happens with all professionals and all fields. Just a slight correction. The stuff to which you refer is not social science. You are thinking of gender studies (which is not a social science). Most psychologist co-workers i know reject such things and no serious journal in our fields accept those crazy theories. Our work is peer reviewed science, gender studies is not peer reviewed, is biased and is looked down upon within the social science world.

It has been creeping in for awhile to tell the truth. When i did my psychology degree a few years ago, i had the feminist class that many now refer to as the "feminist dance therapy" stuff. Even back then only half my class could see it was bullshit, and these are future psychologists.
