I'm sure more than half the population doesn't know it. A lot of men don't know it either, or have never thought about it. That's part of why those that go through it kill themselves, because they never considered it and suddenly are forced to face it after a traumatic experience after which they already can't think clearly. In certain cultures and subcultures it's considered gay for a man to have been raped by a man. Or considered adultery or deviency for a woman to be raped. It just doesn't ma…

Yep. A lot of male rape victims kill themselves because they got erections while being raped, and can't deal with the thought that that must have meant they subconciously enjoyed it.

I'm surprised the other coworkers who overheard those comments didn't report her. That's incredibly unprofessional. Not to mention outright gross.

It's also skewed massively by pay-to-win dating apps like Tinder, with messed up opaque algo's. I had Tinder gold for a month and for some reason got only two likes in the entire time. I've done pretty well in dating over the years so that was extreme. The two days after Tinder gold ran out I suddenly gained 54 likes and a few matches. Clearly they're trying to suck me back into paying. It's so messed up that those companies aren't just allowing people to meet each other naturally but have to su…

I think Reddit is just far more dominated by the left wing ever since they got rid of the few remaining right wing subs. Folks on the right moved to other platforms making pretty much all the major front page subs left wing echo chambers. And being anti-men, especially anti straight white men, is just a big part of being on the left these days.

What's crazy is that most people are unaware you can even get an erection as a fear/stress response. A lot of men who are victims of rape by men will get an involuntary erection while being raped, and many of those will commit suicide after because of the confusion/shame. The same often happens with rape by women, where the erection will often wrongly be seen as a sign of consent.

Could you imagine a world where we did the same to girls when they're born? The world would be in an uproar. No it wouldn't, because it would be normalized, just as it currently is in the US. Even though in the US, it had nothing to do with religious reasons. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gCSWbTv3hng

It's very interesting to see the massive difference in thinking with regards to this between Americans and Europeans. A lot of Europeans even want to ban male circumcision entirely, aside from the few medical reasons to do so. The history of male circumcision in America is also very interesting. Funny and twisted too. So are the justifications many give towards it today. It's also strange to discuss the massive loss in sensation as a result of losing thousands of nerve endings, and to hear peopl…

If you're unable to properly wash yourself I doubt a smelly wiener is your only problem... Also, you can always get circumcised as an adult. Noone has a problem with that. You'll have a few months of pain, and deminished pleasure, and you'll have to learn to aim your pee again, (speaking from experience) but the option is always there. It's crazy to me that babies are circumcised even without anesthesia and also don't get painkillers after. I was circumcised as an adult and it hurt like hell, ev…

Well if an adult woman wants to mutilate her own genitals, I don't really have problem with that, as long as it's her choice. (and perhaps completed a psychological evaluation) I wouldn't approve of it, but it's their choice.

Same here. Usually in the more political episodes it's just a few lines and you roll your eyes a few times and sit through it. But this was just non stop and kept getting worse. And it's hardly a fringe show, either.

Dispite the typical political messaging in that show, I rather like it. But this time ... damn. I've never seen a more overt piece of feminist propaganda on any TV show. Spoiler: Basically a guy is hit in the nuts for sexual harassing someone. The accuser says she doesn't want to press charges because noone will believe her. The cops then push her to do it saying they believe her (without having investigated) and they'll find the evidence, basically making the guy guilty untill proven innocent. …

An interesting campaign launched in the Netherlands at the end of last month that caused quite the stir in Dutch speaking countries and promoted quite a lot of public debate. Most of which very positive. Basically the campaign focussed on the fact that 56% of parents in the Netherlands recognize that their boys aren't getting enough room to breathe, and that that's leading to bad performance. Looking at the campaign site etc they actually did a lot of research on the subject, clearly anticipatin…

A few of my favorite comments on this: Bull symbolizes raising of the stock market. And the girl standing opposing the bull... Defiantly... So the idea is that women cause stock market to drop and companies trading their shares to bankrupt? This sums up female ideology. When men picture themselves as powerful testosterone full bulls, capable of unimaginable strengths, determination and the power for destruction... Women view themselves as a stubborn little girl, who's determined to have her voic…

I'm sure he's paid attention to the feedback he's getting. I would agree that he sometimes came across as hostile and frustrated, which is understandable given the severity of the subject, but counterproductive if you are trying to convince people. Jordan Peterson does a great job of discussing certain laws that are put in place in Canada and will no doubt find their way to the US and Western Europe. He may portray it a bit alarmist with the comparison to the soviet union, but god damn he does a good job of it. Scary stuff! And doesn't really seem all that farfetched.

Thanks! Some interesting stuff in there. Still the same old one-sided approach though. Like "is the chance greater that violence against women occurs in the house or ...". Apparantly it's too much work to ask many of these questions about BOTH genders.

Exit polls. Big difference between those and pre-election polls, which are notoriously unreliable as we've seen with Brexit. From what I've read about it the polling base is mainly older people that have land lines. Who the hell still even uses a land line?

If the alternative was a sociopathic warmonger with Hillary Clinton's backstory? Yes, yes I would. He's clearly the lesser of two evils, and a wildcard. Not that I'm a fan. I'm just glad it's him and not Hillary Clinton. Putin congratulated Trump on his victory and stated that he's keen in repairing relationships between the US and Russia. That's massive. If Clinton had won, that would be an entirely different story, given her rhetoric.

Joe is one of my favorite stand-up's, and definately my favorite podcast. Not a big fan of the martial arts stuff, but most of his guests and conversations are great. But yeah he's also underrated in my opinion. Even if he's got the biggest podcast out there. Netflix will be good for his career too. And no doubt it'll be great for TRP aswell.

It's a shame there are two identical petitions, as that divides the total number of signatures. It would have more impact if there were only one. Although I'm sure many - like myself - have signed both. Here's the other one, that got far more signatures: https://www.change.org/p/stop-extremists-censoring-what-australians-are-allowed-to-see-save-the-red-pill-screening-0c5c742e-f44d-4ade-8b17-4c5c576cab2b

Quite refreshing to see a fairly balanced discussion indeed. I just hope it get's on Netflix like was announced. And hopefuly shared on Youtube aswell, just for more views. But Netflix would already be a game changer. The more people see this, the more people see past the propaganda that we're not all a bunch of woman hating conspiracy theory nutjobs. Feels good to see this coming through the way it is. A breath of fresh air :)

I think most men and women are actually fairly neutral when it comes to this sort of thing. They just don't invest the time, effort and emotions into it some of us do. As soon as you create something that can act as a stepping stone, you're going to open a lot of people's eyes.
/r/MensRights14/10/16 11:47 AM

I know I for one am going to share the hell out of it. I agree, it can be a gamechanger. A bridge between men, MRA's, and women and moderate feminists. Don't bother with the radical feminists, they aren't the target audience. The reviews I've seen portray the movie as very neutral and somewhat disarming, so hopefuly that'll make it easier for some to confront those issues and double standards etc. Times are changing, no doubt about it.
/r/MensRights14/10/16 11:45 AM

I wonder if in 10 years we'll look back at this time in which we are slowly starting to pay attention to men's issues at a time wherein we lacked empathy for men ... or if nothing will have changed. Judging by how the public conversation seems to have changed over the past few years, and the speed of which only seems to be increasing ... I'm cautiously optimistic.

For some reason I think if it was a naked statue of Hillary Clinton, the SJW brigade would be up in arms screaming sexism and "this is why we need feminism!!!" etc... Double standards, and all that jazz. I'm not a big fan of Trump and yes, it's a bit funny, but it's also juvenile and disrespectful, not to mention taking the piss out of politics. Heart warming message, although I would like to nit-pick one part of it. These aren't "our" issues, these are societal issues. There is no benefit in the division between men's & women's issues, other than the endless struggle for power, attention and funding, since there's so much money and politics involved. Not to mention tribalism. Those issues just have to be accepted as such by the general public, if they ever bother to listen. Luckily, more and more of the very men's issues that were so e…

I'd say compulsory reading for everyone, both men and women. A lot of women and girls are simply oblivious to this too, and are in fact unknowingly guilty of it themselves. I don't want the same victim mentality to be adopted by men, but I do want society to recognize all the double standards and long list of men's issues. These aren't gendered issues anymore, nor should they be. They are social issues. Enough of this divisive PC bullshit.
/r/MensRights10/02/16 01:08 AM

I agree with that, but at the same time I agree we need to stand up against a common threat. Although ideally I would prefer a public apology to all men first, or at the very least a more public recognition of the harm feminism and the PC culture has done to society. I never could hold a grudge... I prefer to take the high road. After laughing and saying 'I told you so', obviously.

That's the sense I got out of this too. And because I see that there's at least something positive coming out of this crisis, meaning a change in the conversation, I decided to share this here.

I like that she acknowledges feminism as one of the major causes of this though. I think it's an important step to reconciliation with men. Then again I'm an optimist. In time I'm sure balance will restore without us going back to the 50's.

I would call them every single day since I plan on having sex daily. They didn't specify actually being able to have sex that day. What guy doesn't hope to magically get laid every day? :-)

And the Aztecs and Mayans were all pretty brutal too. Along with all surrounding tribes they were either at war with, exterminating, or ruling. Not a surprise it only took Cortez a few shows of power and a hell of a lot of skilled diplomacy to turn the natives against each other and raise a massive army mainly of local tribes hostile to the ruling Aztec elites, tired of paying tributes. I'm sure if they looked at some of the shitty little plains tribes there might be some more matriarchal or vag…

This would be funny if it wasn't a glimpse into the mind of the next Pol Pot. How distorted some people's world views are just shows how important balance is in the political system.

It's an older article that I stumbled on while doing some research on war time atrocities, but some of what I read really got my blood boiling. A few snippets out of the second half... Because there has been so little research into the rape of men during war, it's not possible to say with any certainty why it happens or even how common it is – although a rare 2010 survey, published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, found that 22% of men and 30% of women in Eastern Congo reporte…

Well clearly motivating men isn't required since the world is a patriarchy and men are a privileged class, you sexist pig! What's crazy is that some people really think like that, or consider it 'payback' for centuries of patriachal oppression. For them, it really is a zero sum game.

Obviously I agree men should be advised as to the dangers of marriage, but that doesn't mean you can't empathise with women aswell. Unless you are some bitter troll... This is a men's rights sub, not an anti-woman one. This article mainly talks about the necessity of having fathers/rolemodels in the lives of daughters, which perfectly belongs here.

This is insane. How many men like him are still behind bars without chance of appeal. And still, in face of cases like this, the court of public opinion is calling for guilty untill proven innocent to be the default approach. May cases like these serve as a strong reminder.

A good start, but you can be sure a similar campaign for female victims would show at least a black eye and mention beating ... but for men, it has to be 'pushing around', because men are strong and women are weak and fragile and blablabla :/

'I thought if you put your name on the birth certificate and you have the paternity established, you are the father,' Nielsen told KSL. 'I didn't know about anything else.' This case is the perfect example of how ignorant many people are of this sort of family issues, which is also so easily abused for paternity fraud purposes. To illustrate the double standard, the woman should be forced by the court to pay child support, after the man decides to keep the baby. After a couple of cases like that…

I'd contact a lawyer in advance though, just to be on the safe side. Say you might be needing his/her services in the future, and they are likely to give you some free advice. And if it does ever come to that, you've already found someone. Probably won't cost you anything either at that point. Better safe than sorry, mate. It would suck to be told afterward that there were steps you could have taken to improve your position in a case, but you didn't consult the right people.

Glad this got turned around. I posted about it earlier on this sub and got nothing but negative comments and scepticism. Than there are still some who are more optimistic and have a bit of faith in humanity.

What, so your suggestion would be to be angry and bitter? Yeah no thanks, I'll pass. If you've been involved in duscussions about men's rights as long as I have, and have seen the change over the past few years alone, you can't help to be optimistic. I still have faith in humanity, even if you don't. Contrary to popular belief, most people aren't actually sociopathic cunts.
/r/MensRights27/10/15 05:21 PM

At some point you've got to start trusting some people within the media though. And since a lot has changed in the last few years, especially lately, I think now is as good as any. And hell... in the worst case it will still be funny to see things be twisted. Radical feminist propaganda pieces only serve to undermine their own credibility.

Good, I was looking forward to this. I'm trying to give her and her project the benefit of the doubt, although I understand others have a hard time doing so. At the very least we can listen to what she has to say. Chances are her project could turn out great and objective. Or a complete nightmare... but in the latter case; what else is new? We're used to that by now ;-)

I'm argueing with you because it annoys me that MRA's complain that noone is doing anything in the real world, yet so many seem to get pissed off and boycot any attempts that are made, just because they don't fit 100% of their criteria. I just think it's childish. The issues are what matter. And I'm more than aware of the media portrayal of MRA's and men's issues. I wouldn't have posted this here if I believed the film makers wouldn't be objective. But from what I can see in the trailer and what…

I couldn't care less if it's a man or a woman making these projects. As long as the issues are covered objectively. The footage on the kickstarter page seems objective enough to merrit the benefit of the doubt, and by including both MRA's ánd feminists chances are this will get more mainstream attention than some fringe MRA/redpill only video that barely get's seen. Which I would also support, mind you... I'm just hoping for a bit more than the same old low profile stuff. She says in the video h…

I really couldn't care less as long as the issues are discussed. The rest is just petty politics and white noise. If the issues are dealt with, there will be no need for a men's rights movement. Isn't that the whole point? Or do you think ending up like the monstrosity feminism has become should be the goal? Rather than getting rid of women's institutions and focussing on the issues instead. And really... That merrits a downvote?

Wouldn't want to embarass yourself by risking to step outside of your precious little echo chamber... If you fear you'll be on the losing end of a debate, then perhaps you need to start questioning your beliefs.

I know this was posted here before, but seeing how this barely has 141 backers out of about 100.000+ men's rights sub readers, including 350 online at this very moment... we've got to do better than that. I know many people are sceptical about media coverage of men's issues, and especially the men's rights 'movement', but this does seem to be a genuine attempt at an objective approach, including both prominent MRA's and feminists. I'm prepared to give her the benefit of the doubt, since I find i…

Most western countries are struggling with severe birth rate declines. Europe and Russia aren't that much worse off than Japan. That gap probably would be much smaller if they didn't include statistics of immigrants, who typically have far higher birth rates than 'native' Europeans. And yes, I understand this issue is somewhat different in the US, which has a much broader history with immigration than Europe does. In Europe, it's only really took place in the last few decades, at a pace noone wa…

By continuing to spread awareness and discussing these issues. Although decentralized, there are plenty of individuals and smaller groups doing their thing, and doing their thing well. And I actually prefer it that way, rather than an authoritarian hierarchical group you may not agree with. This approach is more democratic, and seems to do a better job of promoting debate. I would suggest people look less at Reddit and anonymous internet bloggers as the pinacle of MRA awareness, but look at more…

Is it just me or is Australia more open to discussing men's issues? Seems like a lot of the stuff I'm coming across comes from Australia rather than the UK or north America. Could just be coincidence though.

I don't think the men's rights movement has been a failure at all. I've been involved in discussing these issues for a number of years now, and even in just the past two years there has been a major shift in the way many social issues (that used to be women's issues) are being discussed. Especially on social media and even in the mainstream media and youtube. Male victims are now also included, and it's much harder for anyone to get away with disproven statistics and manipulation of data. Aside …

Perhaps the upcoming 'Red Pill' documentary that is currently on Kickstarter will be a great list of topics and sources, because that is something that is really lacking within this movement. A comprehensive list of issues and sources displayed in a clear and easily located manner. I recently came across this video that is a response to someone calling out the men's rights movement, but I thought it did a great job of covering a wide range of topics in a clear and well underbuilt manner. I just came across a very good video today which is a response to someone criticizing the men's rights movement. If you are new, I would advise to watch the original criticism aswell to see from what sort of person it's coming and how people like that see the world, since you should never close yourself off from differing opinions. But I would suggest watching the response first, since it's pretty lengthy (40min) but covers a lot of the more popular topics very well: https://www.youtube.com/watc…

Yes, actually. Yes I do. I have years of experience talking with the extremist sorts of ideologues you seem to be mentioning, that ban people they dislike at a whim. Especially if you mention men's rights. I've been banned from /r/feminism merely for pointing out the wage gap is a clearly debunked myth, all the while remaining polite. What harassment? Just because someone who harasses someone also happens to be on this board doesn't mean a thing. Am I the only one terrified by this? Lot's of us tried our best to spread the word about the previous recent censorship attemps such as SEPA that luckily seem to have failed. But then feminists come along, and they get to try again... Governments must be loving feminists right about now.
