What’s the backstory here? How did it get to this point?

Well done, sir.

This sucks and I’m in this exact predicament. Being held hostage by a cheating piece of shit wife who has nothing but bad intentions. I’m laser-focused on the kids and me and that’s helped. Going to join a gym this week as that might help, too. Hope we can both get out of this vortex of treachery and evil soon and unscathed. Godspeed.

Talk to a lawyer and find out what the custodial and financial arrangement might look like. In the meantime, stand your ground and tell her that she needs to be more diplomatic and respectful when speaking to you. Don’t do this in earshot of the kids and stay calm. If she riles you up, just end the conversation and excuse yourself. Keep a journal of all your interactions — dates and times. This is just in case she tries to drum up bullshit and call the cops on you under false pretenses. Stay saf…

Good on you, man. I plan on having the same outcome and it’s great to hear when other dudes are living the dream.

I love the multiple Terminator references here, particularly the “phased plasma rifle in the 40-watt range.” 👏😂

I just did and it’s insanely accurate. I’ve been using the Invasion of the Body Snatchers reference since the outset of this nightmare. Thanks for the info!

I’ve got intel on the AP: doesn’t crack $60K in a good year, lives in a shithole in a horrendous part of town, two kids with some baby momma (never married), DUI charge, and an eviction. There’s probably more, but I’d have to dig deeper (I plan to). Also, definitely going to get her vocationally assessed to the maximum of her earning potential.

She did! A minimum wage fuck who looks like an extra in a bad prison movie about cholos.

Thank you so much for your words. It helps to have a place like this and people like you to vent and rant at that know exactly what sort of nightmare I’m living right now.

Thanks, brother. I’ll be joining a gym soon and hitting it hard.

Thank you. I just feel like me and the kids are goddamn hostages right now…something will have to give and I know that. I appreciate the pep talk. Will keep you posted.

No fault and community property state. My wife being a cheating piece of shit will have no impact on divorce. Can you believe this shit? My kids and finances are the only reason I haven’t thrown this whore out on her ass. Really stuck, unfortunately.
/r/Divorce_Men14/07/22 10:13 PM

Pretty much all of this is correct unfortunately. Do not rollover for her or acquiesce to any of her demands, especially when it comes to the kids. Fathers have rights — those children are yours, too. Develop a relationship with a lawyer and have them at the ready. She cheated on you, so do not underestimate her capacity to harm you. Assume nothing about her at this point because the woman you married is gone and she’s now an angry, bitter, vindictive piece of shit that won’t think twice about f…

I keep coming back to this very same thought. If either of my kids were in this predicament, I’d tell them to get out. Trust me — I feel like a fucking hypocrite every day and know that I’m just delaying what I know needs to be done. Just trying to figure out a way to do it and mitigate the damage to the kids and me. But you’re 100% on this.

Following. I’m interested in information on this, too.
/r/Divorce_Men10/07/22 12:18 PM

Christ, this could be my wife, especially the “a 9-5 is not for me” part. What the fuck are these vile assholes thinking?! Sorry you’re also going through this — I’m hoping karma catches up with our respective wives and soon. Evil must never go unpunished and what they’re doing to us is purely evil.
/r/Divorce_Men10/07/22 12:17 PM

What a cunt. I’m exactly in the same boat. Gun shy about filing (she’s cheating; goddamn no fault state) because I know shit will get ugly and fast and that’s not something I want to put our kids through. And trust me — I want to serve her divorce papers so bad I can fucking taste it. I feel like a hostage. Good luck to you, sir.
/r/Divorce_Men10/07/22 01:32 AM

Thanks for the wealth of info, brother. I’ll keep you posted but I fully intend on dunking all over her trifling ass.

Will definitely look these dudes up. Thank you!

Fuck that sucks that you had to see that. Sorry. But I agree with you totally — she’s doing a perfectly good job of fucking up her own life. Why get in the way?

Thanks for sharing.

Tough call indeed but I can sense that her implosion is imminent. When it happens, I want to be front row center.

Hmm. I like the way you think.

Yes.

The thought has crossed my mind. The last four months have been so difficult, though. I don’t see how I could live like this for that long.

Good to know. I’ll definitely reach out to you directly for some guidance on this — thanks.

It’s so fucked up, my dude.
/r/Divorce_Men02/07/22 04:41 AM

I’ve been trying to get her to work for a decade. You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make it drink. But maybe the vocational assessment will do the trick.
/r/Divorce_Men02/07/22 04:41 AM
1

She would — most states are no fault in that regard. Don’t get me started on it.
/r/Divorce_Men01/07/22 11:50 PM
2

She’s 46, so her uterus is filled with cobwebs at this point. But I hear you on everything else.
/r/Divorce_Men01/07/22 10:44 PM
2

Nah, I wouldn’t fuck her with your dick at this point. And she was never that great either when she was in her prime.
/r/Divorce_Men01/07/22 10:42 PM
4

She’s fucking a coworker at her minimum wage job. 16 years her junior and a minimum wage sack of shit himself. Plenty of young guys are looking for a serious relationship with a woman nearing her 50s, right?!
/r/Divorce_Men01/07/22 10:41 PM
1

My timeline wouldn’t be that long (kids are about to be teens) but I know that I’m just kicking the can down the road at this point. I’m hoping she implodes in the interim.
/r/Divorce_Men01/07/22 10:39 PM
5

This is so good to hear. So glad you’ve bounced back. And yes, I’ve retained counsel and one of the first moves is having her vocationally assessed.
/r/Divorce_Men01/07/22 10:38 PM
3

That’s the biggest takeaway from this whole thing for me — only date/marry your betters.
/r/Divorce_Men01/07/22 10:29 PM
1

Definitely a factor in my thinking.
/r/Divorce_Men01/07/22 10:28 PM
6

You and me park our cars in the same garage. I’m almost banking on this happening and soon. She’s on two antidepressants, estranged from her mortified family, and just a fucking mess overall. I’m going to let her spiral a bit more before I do anything. And yes, I have evidence of all of her shenanigans.
/r/Divorce_Men01/07/22 07:10 PM
1

This is a major dilemma for me. I’ve thought about this endlessly and you’re right.
/r/Divorce_Men01/07/22 06:54 PM
2

She’s never contributed financially, so there’s nothing to be missed on that front. Or any front for that matter.
/r/Divorce_Men01/07/22 06:54 PM
3

15 years unfortunately.
/r/Divorce_Men01/07/22 06:53 PM

Yup. Definitely getting this underachieving skank vocationally assessed.
/r/Divorce_Men01/07/22 06:52 PM
2

This has been my thinking the whole time. My hope is that her pussy tingles get so bad that she moves out of her own accord, preferably with her AP (I don’t think he’s interested in her beyond fucking though).
/r/Divorce_Men01/07/22 06:52 PM
6

That’s pretty much where I’m at.
/r/Divorce_Men01/07/22 06:50 PM
4

I’m hoping against hope that she gets real work and earns to her potential. When (notice I didn’t say “if”) I file, she’ll definitely be slapped with a vocational assessment.
/r/Divorce_Men01/07/22 06:49 PM
14

Talk to your lawyer about getting her vocationally assessed. It’s time for her to put on her big girl pants and get a real job like you. I’m dealing with something similar only my wife isn’t monied but does have a Masters Degree that she refuses to do anything with — currently works part time (after not working for over a decade) in a warehouse making minimum wage. The party’s gonna be over for her ass and soon. Good luck!
/r/Divorce_Men30/06/22 05:22 AM

This is a good point.
/r/Divorce_Men27/06/22 11:55 PM

Dude, I hope you hang a big “L” on that cheating bimbo. I’m dealing with an idiot wife, too. Her expertise is manicures and balayage. Rooting for you, sir. Keep us posted and let us know once you’ve finished dunking all over her stupid ass.
/r/Divorce_Men27/06/22 11:54 PM

Agreed. Reconciliation is an absolute fantasy. We only cling to it initially as a response to trauma. Once the shock wears off and the clarity comes, what must be done becomes crystal clear.

I love your kids. You’re a lucky man and they’re equally lucky to have a great dad like you. This anecdote put a huge smile on my face. Going through something similar and this sort of comeuppance is just what the doctor ordered. Thank you for sharing.
/r/Divorce_Men23/06/22 06:58 AM

If you must marry (don’t), marry your equal (at a minimum) or better.
/r/Divorce_Men22/06/22 04:55 AM

She cheated and blew up your life and family. Her problems are her own (and of her own making). Focus on your own well-being (and your children) and don’t look back. Peace and healing to you, sir.
