Anhedonia comes to mind, but most psychologists list this as a core symptom of depression. I'm not sure I agree, it's subject to interpretation. Fun fact: inmate on inmate crime is rarely reported to law enforcement (other than murder), which in turn does not get reported to the FBI, which manages NIBRS. What does this mean? Crimes against persons such as rape and assault are underreported. AND, these are mostly crimes against the male gender.

"Grey man" is an expression used to describe a man who intentionally makes an effort NOT to stand out. To be average, to blend in. I reached out to an old Army buddy whose son was part of the Ranger cadre when the first female soldiers (cough) earned their tabs. Same double standard. They were lenient to the point of ridiculous. Example: When carrying something like an M60, when the female Ranger trainee got tired, they would make a male trainee carry it.

Tenn as well. Plenty to do if you live in the larger cities (Nashville, Memphis, Knoxville, Chattanooga). If you're a county boy, there are many opportunities for hunting, fishing, hiking, camping. And, I love TN for all of the golf courses and shooting ranges.

A lot of decent advice given so far. You have to break the mindset of depression; whether it be therapy, exercise, meditation, etc. Find what works and do it. Make yourself develop a positive attitude. Do positive things for yourself EVERY DAY. Remind yourself that she's not worth the pain, and then remind yourself 375 more times she's not worth the pain, then go out and do something fun and positive. You've got this brother, and please keep us updated on your progress.

Sorry brother. I had a friend that this happened to. Took her to dinner on their 22nd anniversary. She used that occasion to announce her intention to divorce. He handled it as well as can be expected. Lost a lot of money in the divorce. Fast forward a few years later, she reaches out to him and offers to "sell" him her funeral plot (that he bought).
