I thought I did a good job and didn't "coddle" my son. I had to fight to make up to him what his father refused to give him but I kept a clean house and he was taught how to clean and do laundry. Regardless he is a LVM. He drove girlfriends away already expecting them to clean up after him and lives in a perpetual pig sty. Doesn't seem to bother him nor newest girlfriend. The example wasn't set by me but possibly my ex his dad who lived in the 1950's and thought he was better than cleaning, laun…

I will help, just tell me what you need, ugh. Then stand with me and give step by step instructions cause ya know I don’t do anything to YOUR standards.

I feel the same at 56. They look like potatoes, pasty, white and sickly. No effort put forward to be clean, neat or anything close to being put together. I spent to many years taking care of one and divorced him. I don’t want to go back to a mommy role taking care of a man child that doesn’t take care of himself all the while lying to myself the he would ever take care of me.

Ex once tried his culinary skills out by making me and mom breakfast even down to his infamous hash browns which had to be cooked with the skins on. Took one bite and tasted like dirt. Mom asked him did he wash the potatoes before he shredded them. Well ya know where this was going! But he was a great cook😅

You are right, they hate us but make damn sure to drop a good smear campaign and play the victim making those around them believe we are crazy bitches and made their life hell. I can’t believe people buy into it!

OMG spot on. Three affairs (ones I knew of, sure there were more). Threats of divorce consistently over the years from Ex. Final affair I was done (was done before then but stayed). He wanted the divorce but wouldn’t file. Drove me nearly insane. Then “how dare I” file and serve him? Made my life living hell. He was miserable, he cheated, he was a covert Narc and played mind games, made the divorce psychological war and even after. Made no sense still doesn’t.

Like what my daughter said in her mid 20s; “I don’t want someone wrinkled, I want someone I can wrinkle with!”

I love this advice. I had to come to the same conclusions with my EX and children. They love him but they also don't know all the things he put me through, what they do know of isn't enough to make them see him for the monster he is, they may never see it? I sheltered a lot from them and glad now I did. They may never come around to your way of thinking as the abused one and you have be able to deal with it, doesn't mean it isn't difficult, its horrible at times.

I evicted my son and hard as it was I couldn’t let him live in utter nasty filth while my niece shared the house with him and would call me crying and send pictures how bad it was. He knows how to clean he chooses not to. I chose my paying clean renter over him. He lives with his friend(who knew all to well how bad it was) and now the friend is suffering and can’t get rid of him. I sadly did not raise him to be a LVM but at 25 it’s his choice. He also acts like this great awoke man and treat wom…

Feel your pain, was in a similar situation; the emotional/psychological and covert abuse it horrific. Ex is forever the victim/saint to most and I don't even try to defend it nor explain it. Luckily I don't get asked anymore. I think EX wanted to physically hurt me, tried a few times, in the middle of the divorce he came at me and I got right up and told him bring it on. At that point I was hoping he would hit me, then I could get him out of the house. He knew not to cross that line. How would h…

UGH, these men kill me. Point the finger at anyone else but themselves. Had a service man at a car dealership I took my car to decide he would try for a date and got my info from the file and called me. I lost my chit on him and ask WTH he thought he was taking my personal information for his own gain? He was shocked at my response!? I should had reported it to his employer. Crazy weirdos just sitting in wait.

The only book I found to describe what I was married to for over 30 years. This was the book, excellent read. My copy has highlights and notes all over it. I have bought several and sent them to a few women going through a similar situation in hopes it would help them. I always knew what Overt Narcs were but not the Covert. Not that either are good but the coverts are more cunning at doing it under cover which makes you doubt your own sanity.

In GA. Got divorced three years ago. I was required minimum of two hours mediation. I feel lucky to say, mediation worked because I had a awesome mediator.

Thank you, was going to comment exactly this. Community property in most places. I know in my state the only thing that wasn't community property was if you had a family inheritance.

I disagree, it isn't assumed that the harder a man pursues, the higher value he is. The FDS strategy isn't about how hard a man pursues you. If that is the conclusion you came to you need to re-read a bit. I don't understand why wanting- respect, kindness, consideration, honesty, communication, to take things slow, investment of time and thought - would be in any way considered playing hard to get? FDS supports equal and reciprocal.

One of the best things my daughter ever said and I can't forget it (she was sickened by the creepy old men always hitting on her etc.). "Ewww I don't want some old wrinkly man, I want a man I can wrinkle with!"

I wish I could had billed EX for the shit I took care of over the years in one lump sum payment, he would had stroked out right in the middle of mediation. I am sure he cries in his beer every night because I get part of his retirement every month. Was married and military and I kept a job most of those years but couldn’t really advance because companies were afraid just when I was trained I would have to move and that is sadly how it worked out. I deserve every penny I got and feel no guilt ove…

I want to know since when is does unreasonably high standards include; hold a job, be respectful, take care of yourself-house-pets, take care of your significant other, know basic adulting, etc. Is this so unachievable and too high an expectation? Yes from what I have seen it is therefore I will continue being single.

I want to add; Hit it again at 30 when the alcohol has affected what brain was left after porn brain. Hit it again at 40-42 when ED is in full force from said alcohol abuse and porn brain.

Ex said that about a year into our relationship and damn I should had listened. I know now his kind rarely speaks the truth but that was the truth. During divorce Ex said "I am just a horrible person" and dummy me felt sorry for him and said just what he wanted to hear, that he wasn't. He isn't a horrible person, he is a monster in a covert/victim/passive-aggressive (need I go on?) costume.

I do but been told my expectations are too high? I guess I expect to be treated like I treat them; time, invested, care, effort? A few have tossed me aside in favor of their man search, the last friend I gave up on did just that but I also was tired of being the social director and making all the plans.

My suggestions: Monday morning close all of your accounts so she no longer has access to filter money anywhere or to anyone. She wants to play let her pay. Get all your documentation; bank statements, birth and marriage certs, shot records, taxes etc and place them in a secure area. Get a shark lawyer. I doesn’t matter much in my state, Georgia, about the cheating. File first and have her served. Talk to your first sergeant about the situation, they usually have great advice and plenty of resour…
