I wouldn't say he is happy now, at the end he just merely realized that it wasn't his "true" wife. It was the paradoxical wife, the better version if you will, but not THE wife he married and has been with throughout the years. Yes, it seemed he was happy, but then BAM, the bacon bit hit him.
