Why do they watch your stories?Or just get rid of Facebook entirely. I did a couple months ago. It's turned into such a cesspool of ego driven short videos and ads. I actually didn't delete entirely though. I "deactivated" it cause I didn't want to torch the history of my kids on there. Maybe it will get better in the future and I an reactivate. | /r/Divorce_Men | 17/05/24 03:36 PM
The little things (taken for granted)I see his point on some of it though. I'm extremely hard on my ex at times, but if she couldn't get one of the kids bikes fixed (assuming you're not talking about her bike OP?), then I'd do it, cause it's for the kids, not about her. Or if she can't get a toilet working in the house I still entirely pay for as we are still separsted, I'd fix it, cause it's really just helping me out. Otherwise I'd pay more for a plumber to come to the house. | /r/Divorce_Men | 07/05/24 04:43 PM
Struggles rebuilding & datingOh absolutely agree, the thought of another woman very involved with my kids seems inauthentic to me. It's the same reason why I don't date women with kids....cause I have my own and it would weigh on me if I was spending any time or other resources with kids that are not my own. I likely won't be in anything resembling a relationship until my youngest turns 18...so looking at another 12 years. And that's OK with me. My kids only get one childhood. Whereas I can date when they're adults. | /r/Divorce_Men | 18/02/24 02:07 PM
Asset Protection?Yeah don't get married. And also, don't buy a house right now. Worst housing market for buyers ever. So many people are gonna be underwater. | /r/Divorce_Men | 31/03/22 02:13 AM
Was doing so well with grey walk and lost it over text. Down on myself and just tired. This is not a realistic strategy if you have children and need to communicate with your ex multiple times on a weekly basis. | /r/Divorce_Men | 24/03/22 03:44 PM
Feeling like a failure after divorceCurrently in the process of divorcing a SAHM. Marriage hasn't been working for a long time. But I was determined to work on it. She was determined to be unhappy. Turns out, the separation period has been a trial period for her to monkeybranch without fear of losing alimony. Honestly, rather than being crushed she was dating someone else, I felt relief. I guess it's a cop out on my part and prevents me from feeling like a total failure....since the decision was not made by me. Divorce crossed my … | /r/Divorce_Men | 20/03/22 07:26 PM
Do you think it's okay to lie about circumstances to protect yourself from gold-diggers?I think if I were in that situation I would totally do it until it got serious. I doubt she would take the news too hard. | /r/Divorce_Men | 13/03/22 05:31 PM
Making 50/50 Custody WorkYou may be right that I may have more bargaining power than I imagine. We're swamped with work at my office and all my projects I manage are making good profit. Personally I see no reason why I can't finish up my work day from home that afternoon/evening. Management at my company tends to skew more old school mindset and they definitely put a value on face time. It changed a bit with the pandemic. I really want to avoid any sort of after school stuff for the kids. Personally I think school days … | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/03/22 03:12 PM
Out of the frying pan and into the fireThis all day long. And we probably would have divorced anyway but counseling DEFINITELY accelerated the process. | /r/Divorce_Men | 26/02/22 05:15 PM
If You're Not Torn Up About It - Did You Ever Really Love Her in the First Place?Yeah I've dealt with the above. Also got complaints related to (I kid you not) how I folded a paper towel in order to clean mirrors in the home. The list could go on....at first I would jokingly respond with "nag, nag, nag, nag" in my best Borat voice. But eventually I started to just go silent when she would voice complaints. Death by a thousand cuts... | /r/Divorce_Men | 22/02/22 04:58 PM
Struggles with mental and physical healthThis right here. Looking in the mirror...again a cliche, but cliches work sometimes. I had my mirror come to Jesus moment last July. Had been separated for several months but had been drinking heavily with bad diet for quite a while. I got up one morning and literally said aloud "this is fucking pathetic." Quit drinking, cleaned up my diet, and started exercising again. It was rough at first, but I stuck with it, I'm down 35 lbs since July and feel amazing. | /r/Divorce_Men | 13/02/22 04:51 PM
Dating and Blended FamiliesDude I know right?? She has told me that her boyfriends STBXW cheated on him and dropped him hard for her affair partner, moved in with him etc. Not sure if her affair partner was also at the event yesterday but I'm guessing he was. And that only adds to the confusion. And they all seem ok with this. I mean wtf. | /r/Divorce_Men | 13/02/22 03:35 PM
Dating and Blended FamiliesThanks for your comment. Yes I am well on my way of breaking the cycle of her being in my head. She has always been one of those "I don't need a man, I'm strong and independent etc." types and has complained about the "unfairness" of her being a SAHM (even though it's what she desperately wanted...the shine wears off after staying home with the kids for 5 years apparently). So to see her jump in and get involved with a guy with multiple kids and increase her kid commitments is mind blowing. | /r/Divorce_Men | 13/02/22 03:20 PM
Struggles with mental and physical healthDoes your son hate you (also did he really say that to you?) because of things your ex told him? I know it sucks right now, but just try and play the long game as best as you absolutely can. Be the best dad you can be to him. Also have faith that things do get easier. I know everyone seems to say that and its almost cliche, but its true. I went thru absolute hell and if someone had told that to me at my worst I 100% would not have believed it. So I get that as well. Still have bad days but every… | /r/Divorce_Men | 13/02/22 03:01 PM
Your experience dating after divorce?I echo many of these comments. Currently separated and my wife has jumped in headfirst into dating with a guy with kids. I don't feel hurt/sad about any of it anymore. It honestly just blows my mind....she spent the day today with him, his kids, AND his stbxw (lol) at an extracurricular event for one of his kids. Meanwhile I went out and had a wonderful day flying solo with our kids doing outdoor stuff at the park and in our backyard. For me its an issue of loyalty...simply can't imagine devotin… | /r/Divorce_Men | 12/02/22 11:37 PM
No more Mr nice guyI just finished the audio book of it on YouTube. I also have heard people talking it up. I kept waiting for a revelation while listening to it, but don't think I really gained much from it. | /r/Divorce_Men | 07/02/22 08:40 PM
When does staying together get harder than leaving?Yes money and less time with my children. I thought I could get along with anyone, but she proved me wrong. I honestly probably would have plodded along in desperate misery for the rest of my life though if she hadn't essentially made the decision for me (she found some dude since we've been separated and now really wants divorce, though its possible she was seeing someone before the separation. Can't prove it though). My kids adore me and though the quantity of time with them has been reduced, … | /r/Divorce_Men | 09/01/22 09:14 PM
When does staying together get harder than leaving?Definitely got to start over. I'm 36, separated since April. Was devastated at first and grieved HARD for months. I turned a corner around September and am happier now then I have been in many years. I feel at peace, calm, collected, motivated, and driven. The divorce is going to cost me dearly, but ultimately I've come to the realization it is for the best. | /r/Divorce_Men | 09/01/22 03:47 PM
