I’m learning this part myself. If you’re in the US, like I am, check your state laws regarding pension. For example, in NY pension in a divorce is based on a formula: Years married divided by years of service then divide that by 50. My stbx says she wants half but in reality based on that formula she’s “entitled” to 25%. I don’t have much more actual experience to share with you at this point, but I suggest you check your local laws regarding pensions in divorce. AI is helpful also along with th…

1.) I really don’t appreciate you, a trolling stranger, putting my personal business out like that. 2.) Yes, I’ve made my mistakes and are working through them. 3.) You’re making it sound like I’m fighting or refusing to be fair with my wife. That is NOT the case. This is all new/unfamiliar ground for me. So yes I’m going to reach out and ask for advice. 4.) I don’t know you, you don’t know me. Do me a favor and find something else to do besides putting someone’s personal business out in the ope…

To OP, I’m in the beginning phase of the process as well. I can’t really afford an attorney but I agree with what anxious-one-2365 says about AI. I have been using it for several different prompts in regard to my situation. The more detailed your prompt is the more info it will give you. It has helped me in some of my “pre” mediation talks with my stbx wife. Good luck to you…

I hear what you’re saying. I should’ve been more clear in my post. I’m not looking for part of hers bc honestly there’s not much to there that’ll be considered “marital assets”. I do need to get myself together and stand up for not just myself but to make sure things are fair.

I wasn’t big on therapy in the past. After hitting the bottom hard trying to deal with things I did to cause the separation I started IC. Granted there’s quite a bit for me to work on but I’m finding it helpful. It’s giving me a space to vent & be called out on things that I can’t always do with my friends (the few I have). It’s becoming more helpful now that I’m in the early stages of the divorce process & helping me find ways to not hit bottom again as well as me redefining myself again.

I would say yes. I would change the moment where I messed up and caused the reason for the divorce.

Sorry I don’t have a story for you. I just wanted to say how crazy that is and how afraid it’s making me being that I’m going to starting mediation at some point soon. Good luck to you…

Thank you for ALL that. I really do appreciate it and I am very overwhelmed reading it all. This is something I will need to go back and look at a few times. For someone who use to be mentally and physically strong, I don’t know if I can handle all this… I thank you again for all your words though.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
