The fact that you didn't show interest this time could have been because you just cared about the group project that much, or maybe you didn't want to start anything with this girl while you're still in a group on a project, maybe you wanted to start being romantic on your own terms on an actual date, or maybe her breath smelled, etc.. Eye contact. Once I was walking into a bar with my friend, saw a girl on the way in, made eye contact and held it as long as any reasonable person could while walking past her toward the bar. It's mostly this. But also, movie dates aren't good for a first date. If your goal is just “go on a date” then they're great: minimal social investment required, easy logistics, minimal thinking in general. And then you can say you went on a date. But if your goal is to get to know her better or get her to like you, movie date isn't a good idea.

So you're thinking about her too much, with too little real-life substance to think about. So you think about fantasy.. When you're thinking too much, the answer is not to try to think less. Rather, give yourself more each day to think about. Get busy. It doesn't require a lot of thought to flirt with and date a girl, so you need to give your brain some other stuff to work on, or it'll just overkill that one subject

Do keep in mind that while making yourself scarce will make many more women want to date you, it will not work on every woman. If you have a crush, and you “make yourself scarce” to try and win her over, she probably won't notice. But if you have a limited investment in all areas of your life and with all people, interest will sprout up from all over.

If you're not familiar with Louie, it's worth noting that he often does 'hyperbole' scenes like this, where what happens on screen is completely unrealistic, but is more in line with what's going through his character's mind. Anyway, I thought it was interesting to see how unlikely and comical our 'worst case scenario' would look if it actually played out.

The way I see it, the definition we're given is extrmely important 1-5% of the time and completely false the rest of the time. Take that for what you will. I can see no possibility of ever having a definition of consent that is both precise and practical for all cases.

Try taking a look at this: http://westsidetoastmasters.com/resources/book_of_body_language/toc.html I read the whole thing over the course of a couple weeks, and it changed a lot about how I viewed my social interactions. Gives a lot of insight on how to read people, and also how to make sure you're being 'read' by other people in the right way.
