Not really. You can sue for defamation but it’s super hard to prove, most attorneys would not be interested in such a case (I’m a lawyer), and if she’s being vague or some of it is true, that’s an absolute defense to defamation. I would say the best thing to do is block her on all social media, tell mutual friends that she has mental health issues or she is lying about you or whatever the truth is and try to put it out of your mind. I realize that may be difficult to do.

She’s emotionally blackmailing you. Do you have kids? If not, definitely do not give her another dime until you talk to an attorney. And you need to do that ASAP. Basically if you have no kids, all marital assets and debts will be split 50/50. You may owe her some alimony for a bit but she will be expected to find a job to support herself. I would not reply, gather paperwork regarding the money you’ve already given her and get an attorney immediately! Good luck OP!

Thank you for the full description. I understand being bitter towards women as a result being screwed over in a relationship. I’ve certainly been there. But the general philosophy is just one that I think is toxic.

I’m not being toxic. The general concept that all women cannot be trusted and are just after the best provider/ physical specimen and will discard them at the drop of a hat is an incorrect, toxic life theory. The same could be said of men by women. I certainly went through an asshole stage in my life where I screwed over or dumped some good loyal women to pursue some hot ass who was a little bit crazy in the head but I knew would be a good fuck.

Just being loyal and honest isn’t always enough. Sometimes the physical chemistry was off. One girl had some mental illness issues. And honestly, I was a serial dater back then. I wasn’t really looking to settle down yet and unfortunately passed on a couple really good women because the timing was off. As Sinatra said “Regrets. I’ve had a few...”

March 19 will be three years off of opiates and it is a life changer man. You need to do it for yourself and your family. Get clean. Then worry about your relationships.

I am in this exact situation! I know I’m going to be pressured and judged by my family and some mutual friends. Also I am torn up inside imagining what my 4 year old is going to say and do. Plus there’s a 2 year old as well. I know they will be fine in the long term but j hate causing this massive disruption in their lives. Please let me know how you tell your kids and how it goes please.

Attorney here but not a divorce attorney. However, as long as the prenup meets the basic legal requirements: in writing, signed by both parties voluntarily, free from duress or fraud and the party seeking it must have made a complete honest disclosure of assets and income (this is the one that trips guys up). Attorney here and former prosecutor. Not based in CA but it was an easy google search. California is a two party consent state and it is actually illegal to record a personal conversation without all parties consent. There are exceptions to this however. If the conversation takes place in a public space or somewhere where it could easily be overheard, it is not a crime. It is a misdemeanor for a first offense. Now having said that, no prosecutor in their right mind is going to prosecute the guy …

TIL a new word! I had to look up condonation but yes, it’s spot on! She was super poised that I hid it and it understandably caused trust issues between us. However, she understood how the brain of an addict works while using and ultimately forgave me and we moved past it. She has been supportive of my recovery. Thank you my friend!

Thank you! Hopefully I am good then because I’m almost to my three year anniversary and clean and my one relapse was two years ago. Sounds like I should meet with an attorney before I talk to my wife though just to be safe. Sorry about your ex. I don’t know if divorce brings out the worst in some people or just make them show their true colors. I am a little bit worried though because my wife has this man-hating bitch of a good friend who I know will be filling her ears with poison.
