It’s crazy because she feels otherwise. Yes, I caused initial pain and hurt with her. But I have actively tried to repair, and have been consistent in our relationship for nearly 2 decades. Without giving too much detail, I went to extreme levels of repair that I think many wouldn’t. Transparency, counseling, truth, unfettered access to everything I have (devices, emails, etc). Not to mention trying to actually talk and work through it. It’s almost like those things made it worse. It’s a level o…

Unfortunately, I did. I wish I didnt, but I couldn’t help it. I’m sure she’ll position me as weak. But I know better and know I will show otherwise. I have consistently in the past, and will continue to moving forward.

I feel for you brother. I’m sorry you have to go through this. No good answer here in the short term. It hurt like hell to tell my daughter. But I hope to be a more connected person on the other side of this with my daughter. I hope the same for you. My therapist told me to focus on my dignity through this. My situation may be different than yours, but I recommend it to you regardless. Show your strength, and show the kids youll be strong with them. FWIW, I’m also slow bleeding. Now I’m going to…

I’m basically in the same place right now. I can’t offer much help, but I can offer my sympathy. This sucks. Sorry you’re going through this.

I really want to avoid court altogether. Uncontested is the goal. I want to give enough, but not so much that I’m broken. I work way too much already, 40-50 hrs/week, plus weekend work for side money. I literally have no time to take on more work.

This is the most helpful thing so far, as far as strategy. I know child support is mandated, I expect that. Do you think it’s best to look at everything 50/50?

Thanks for this. Definitely not trying to diy, but trying to get more clarity before seeing attorneys. We’re in Nevada. FWIW, we have no retirement accounts, savings, etc. Just these few assets and debts. The hope is to avoid alimony, or too much alimony. Again, I absolutely do not want to harm her. She was my world, and I will never forget that. And of course, not harm my child or make her appear a way to my child. I’m just scared I wont make ends meet if she gets alimony based on gross. After …

Thanks for your input. I know I crossed boundaries. To be clear, it was photos of us both, and we had done so together before, she was ok with it then, and later has denied being ok with it. I am trying to own my mistakes. Yes, I do think its less of a big deal than she does, but mostly because it was ok at one point. More importantly, I’ve been trying to acknowledge her hurt. I have been talking to a therapist every week for 4 months straight. I know I was selfish. I know I hurt her. I’ve ackno…

I have been talking to a therapist once a week. I’m lucky, my work pays for one on staff for employees. My boss, the CEO, told me to use her as much as I need (she typically does weekly sessions). It has been helpful, but I am still deep in the struggle. It doesn’t feel helpful enough. And I have loosely spoken with an attorney. I am lucky to have a few very experienced lawyers in my family, one bankruptcy lawyer and one former criminal defense lawyer turned judge. She told me the criminal claim…

I appreciate the comment. It’s not easy. I’ve slept maybe 6 hours total in the last 2-3 days. I’m torn up. Part of me keeps hoping this isn’t real, and my partner will show up. The last 15+ years of my life have went so fast, and the last 1-4 months have gone so slow.

Your profile doesnt accept dm’s. My wife of 17 years years is leaving me. I’m really looking for some support and community. If you do have access to a WhatsApp group, I could sure use it. Thanks in advance.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
