I think the only part of this post that’s worth paying attention to is your history with being sexually abused. Everything you described about OCD also applies to me and a lot of people I know and it’s not an issue. I think the solutions you need are probably gonna come from a therapist and not anyone here. I don’t know about this one. People always like to pick and choose what from the Old Testament holds up and what doesn’t. It’s hard to trust any of it. Most Christians would say you should still follow the 10 commandments, yet this doesn’t apply? The dietary laws don’t apply? Anything that’s actually hard doesn’t? Where the line?

My advice would be never mount your high horse. I can’t even tell you how many Christians I’ve seen who go around acting high and mighty, with barely any understanding of scripture, and showing no virtue in their actions. Absolutely not. One of the most “alpha” men I ever knew was my high school physical science teacher. He was a marine sniper, then a prison guard, then became a teacher for some odd reason. He made us do push-ups for cursing in class, read the Bible while we were working, and had no issue telling off the principal or even superintendent when the situation called for it. When do you think outward displays anger would be useful? I understand “turning it to something better” like they say in red dawn, and using it as a call to action, but I don’t see how outbursts do anything productive. Is it for disciplining kids? I have not yet entered that stage of my life

That is honestly a terrible area to look for churches. If you’re willing to make the drive, the more rural parts of southern Virginia may have a lot more to offer you. In this regard, I feel quality means a lot more than quantity.

What kind of Bible do you have? I’ve noticed Sirach is left out of a lot of newer ones, other books may be as well. Anyway, I’d recommend you try to find it online, it’s one of my personal favorites.

Highly disagree. Alcohol is derived from plants, just like crack, heroin, and nearly every other drug, not to mention that alcohol consumption is outright condoned in the Bible.
