Red Pill is a constellation of stupid ideas. Pinning any one idea down as particularly moronic is an exercise in futility. But the most toxic idea is AWALT, or more specifically, that all women think like children. This is a dangerous assumption.

There is no “short way” out of cult programming. One thing that kept me from going into the cult is not being able to reconcile my experiences with women with what RP was telling me about women. The two realities didn’t line up at all, so I would ask him to give personal examples about his experiences and ask him if they sound rational and coherent.

Why not? Seems like a cliff notes version of “arguing with RPs” would be a good thing to have

You probably have some emotional attachment issues you need to work through first. Don’t get prostitutes or anything like that. Risky sex isn’t the answer to your deeper issues. My recommendation? See a therapist, do some research on attachment theory and work to stop sabotaging yourself.

Basic pitfalls of cohabitation. He has no incentive to provide for her at all so he can get away with his RP behavior and she can’t do anything about it. He got what he wanted out of her. She should take then hint and move on

Have to disagree with you here. You still have a low view of sex and it’s relationship to intimacy. PUA is just an exaggerated extreme of the hookup mindset.

I mean that’s cool but has nothing to do with RP

RPs are simple minded blokes. Humans are inherently mysterious, and dealing with them requires social competency, adaptability and experience. All of which RPs are lacking, often by their own admission
/r/ExRedPill13/09/20 04:20 AM
1

How you approach this depends on what presuppositions you have about human nature. Your strong BPs are feminists and will say that men and women are only different in biology and socialization. Strong RPs believe men and women are intrinsically different and unknowable to one another. Both I think are extreme reactions and neither are absolutely true. Men and women are both people. They’re both complex and have their own interests unique to themselves. Knowing how to deal with people in general …

/r/ExRedPill13/09/20 04:08 AM

We are agreeing but saying the same thing. The advice I was getting was “befriend first, then ask out” and that’s terrible relationship advice for the reasons I outlined: false pretense and delayed disappointment
/r/ExRedPill19/08/20 09:51 PM
1

I have to say I disagree with your perspective and find it incredibly naive. Adults move on and invest their time in people they’re interested in. If you want a friend, don’t go in on false pretenses. This should be common sense
/r/ExRedPill19/08/20 09:48 PM

TRP has many contradictory demands on men and women both. All the same, I have found that women give advice based on their ideals which are socialized, not what actually works in the real world. Typically, if you’re getting advice from your peers, or from your mother, you’re going to get what they think you ought to hear, not what has worked for them. I’ve found that if you want advice on dating from the opposite sex, ask them stories about their dating lives. Ask them how they met and how their…
/r/ExRedPill17/08/20 11:42 AM
1

Lol you just gave to conflicting sets of advice and that’s why I recommend people ignore such advice because it’s inherently contradictory. Befriending her isn’t “getting to know her”; that’s the exact purpose of the date in the first place. Ignore that kind of advice and just ask the person out. No pretense, and you avoid a lot of wasted time.
/r/ExRedPill17/08/20 11:30 AM

You’re making so many assumptions I’m not sure where to even start. I never said men and women can’t be friends, but attempting to befriend and then ask on a date is both inefficient and disingenuous. It doesn’t work because you’re entering into the relationship on false pretenses and it will inevitably lead to rejection.
/r/ExRedPill17/08/20 11:25 AM

I have never received dating advice from women that was at all helpful as a man. I would get suggestions like “Be her friend first before you ask her out!” Then hear them complain about men who they put in the friend zone and was being weird with them. This is when I knew to not take initial dating advice from women.

Most of these guys are in their late teens and early 20s (Physically and often emotionally), so 30s seem too old to them by comparison. That’s why TRP is mostly skewed toward immature perspectives. Many of them are actual children
/r/ExRedPill14/08/20 06:57 PM

Yes. TRP gets that part right. But most aren’t pulling young 20 somethings. Diminishing returns

/r/ExRedPill13/08/20 04:09 PM

You don’t lose a part of yourself in sex, but you’re probably looking for something that sex isn’t giving you. Sex is an extremely intimate act, and there is some kind of deeper relationship involved than just having fun. If there is no relationship there, you could have disappointment
/r/ExRedPill13/08/20 01:58 PM
3

Nah man that’s not how confidence works. TRP doesn’t even teach that. Confidence comes from inner security based on a number of internal traits. Women are attracted to confidence, not looks per se, and even then their metric for looks isn’t what men often look for. Your fatalism is totally a false perception

Ugly guys without a personality will have a difficult time getting sex or a relationship at any meaningful level. A bit of confidence and charm go a long way to contributing towards your overall attractiveness. Trust me, it’s not hard.

Because they’re lying lol Even if true, being average looking with passing conversational skills isn’t that notable. Bragging about being average and getting sex—something that is very easy to get with a little effort—is pathetic.

This is the healthy frame I agree with, but that’s not what most RPers mean by frame. Emotional suppression doesn’t equal emotional self-control

Holding frame—in the sense of not giving into your emotions during a conflict—is one thing I agree with RP on. RPers take this to mean “become an emotionless, sociopathic robot” but that’s a perversion of “frame.”

First, you can never own another person. Get that through your head now. Second, loyalty in relationships is never a given. That’s why it’s important to build trust, but most importantly choose someone with a track record of trustworthiness.

I’ve had this happen many times. I don’t put much stock in these kinds of interactions. They’re fun, flighty, and interesting. But I’m more of a relationship kind of guy so I tend to read signs on women and close the deal over more than one interaction. Honestly, I’ve thought I read signs correctly and then found out the woman was married (!!!) Talk about embarrassing. Don’t overthink it. Keep reading signs, developing your conversational skills and you will find someone who responds to you well

Multiple studies have shown negative outcomes on men who consume internet porn at younger and younger ages. It’s a developing problem for psychologists and currently being studied

Porn is objectively unhealthy, not to mention inherently abusive and degrading to the people participating in the industry. “Wired for Intimacy” and “Getting Off” by Robert Jensen. They provide studies on porn consumption and negative outcomes

Your question is important because I’ve tried to see how RP works outside of a modern casual dating circumstance and I’ve found it lacking on how to approach cross-cultural differences in dating and marriage.

I haven’t finished it. I trailed off and got into Robert Greene who is less results driven and more focused on mentality. I’ve never heard anything bad about it, though and what I read did seem helpful

Stoicism is a school of philosophy. You should study it in context with the rest of Greek thought from the period and not apply it unevenly and poorly to your modern life outside of its context. It’s not pop psychology on suppressing your emotions and had nothing to do with modern dating trends

It makes you feel more in control of yourself, but especially in control of others. The opposite sex is a mystery to most men, so they throw themselves into an ideology that offers clarity. Problematically, it offers neither clarity nor control, so it’s a sink of risk and bitterness (go count the posts of RP guys with multiple pregnancy scares at once, guilt ridden regret and social alienation.) But that’s true of many ideologies. Easy answers at the expense of clear thinking.

Yep. “A prudent man will always try to follow in the footsteps of great men and imitate those who have been truly outstanding, so that, if he is not quite as skillful as they, at least some of their ability may rub off on him.” -Machiavelli Or, shorter, “Don’t take advice from losers.”

I don’t think there is anything wrong with avoiding romantic relationships and doing something else meaningful. On the other hand, when dealing with personal relationships, we almost never make totally rational calculation. A cost/benefit analysis isn’t always the best way to approach relationships in general, and definitely not for intimate relationships. Indifference can be its own kind of hatred, too. Not getting involved in relationships in order to accomplish something more fulfilling for y…

This was exactly why I never went down the RP rabbit hole. I had gone through a breakup and quit my abusive job stituation and was looking for answers. RP was appealing, until I realized that the advice was being shared among teens and 20 somethings, making it very skewed. It didn’t comport with my values (fatherhood, honor, integrity) and I think it was the lack of experience among the posters that underscored naïveté
/r/ExRedPill09/07/20 05:29 PM

I reject Red Pill and MGTOW because it contradicts my intuition and experience dealing with people. Most of the women in my life are genuinely good people with integrity and character. They aren’t primarily interested in money and power—though everyone ultimately is at some level—but concerned for the well-being of the people around them. Having normal self-interests isn’t a bad thing. Yeah, a woman can mess your life up. That’s a risk you take in making yourself ultimately vulnerable to another…

Lol women aren’t going to change behaviors consistent over thousands of years of socialization. Perhaps a minority will, but the vast majority of women are attracted to more traditional gender roles as a general rule.

Correct assessment. TRP gets things right in observation but goes wildly off course in many ways when prescribing behavior

Social hierarchies might be normative but it’s not clear that they are prescriptive. Meaning, perhaps they are natural, but it’s not clear that they ought to exist. On the whole TRP gets power dynamics right to a degree. They just substitute actual confidence and power with a hollow imitation
/r/ExRedPill03/06/20 02:07 PM

If you’re telling someone how they “should behave” you are making an ethical claim, not a normative claim.

Word to the wise: don’t take dating advice from this sub. You get contradictory, oversimplified advice that leads to bad outcomes like this. Seems like you are hurt by her blocking you. Here’s the thing, that relationship is probably over, but if you have another way of contacting her and want to clear your conscious, apologize and tell her that you took bad advice. Money affords power, because you are always in a place of leverage. You may like to think that isn’t a factor in a relationship, but it definitely else. Whoever pays the bills makes the rules.
/r/ExRedPill09/05/20 12:59 AM

Nah, extreme income differences present a legitimate power imbalance that go beyond socially constructed gender norms. Its not a TRP thing, just common sense and basic critical analysis
/r/ExRedPill30/04/20 05:13 PM

Of course the OP doesn’t say she uses her money to leverage power in the relationship. No one believes that they do on a conscious level. But power imbalances have objective components. It’s clear that the men she’s referring to are men who are, by her own admission, beneath her in income, and thus mostly dependent on her and her lifestyle. This is all expressed in the OP. “I'm a woman who's been fortunate to find success in her career, so I end up having a significantly higher income than a lot…

PUA’s manage to accomplish something. You’d be surprised how many of their techniques—even the cornier ones—actually “work” for their stated goals. You’d think, as a rational adult, “push-pull”, teasing, “let’s exchange numbers”, etc are in ineffective. But in the context of quick pick-ups, especially if you adequately demonstrate value, Ive seen them work in real time. Obviously, it’s not a sustainable lifestyle and you’ll get bored with it, especially if you have any emotional intelligences. M…

I’m sorry to break this to you, but TRP isn’t really your problem. You make more money than the men you date and that causes a fundamental power imbalance in the relationship. It appears to me that you like this arrangement because it affords you significant leverage in the relationship. Over time, the little things (actions, attitudes, comments) build up and he grows to resent your limitless power over him. You don’t have to be hypergamous, because you can obviously find men in your income brac…

This is a very mature perspective and I’m happy you’re moving into a healthy direction. One the insidious things about the ResentoSphere as I like to call it (RP, Balckpill, MGTOW) is that it has grains of truth mixed into very skewed perspectives. That’s why they are so attractive to young men: it makes sense of the unfairness of the world, and gives easy answers. The problem is that they’re very bad, toxic answers and don’t actually accomplish what you want, which for me, was love, acceptance …

I’ve been in the same position but I’ve found body language and attraction books—Robert Greene in particular—very empowering in the long run. Some people are ruthless, but now I know why and how to handle them. Use your knowledge for self-empowerment and reflection

Are you an adult? Seriously, how did you get to be this old and believe this garbage? Yes, many women prefer big muscles. They find it attractive. Guess what? Most straight men like big boobs. Shallowness in physical attraction isn’t unique to women. It’s a shallow preference most people would like in a mate, but don’t prefer it over other qualities (cute face, charming personality, compatible a sense of humor, shared values, etc.) The reality is that attraction has nothing to do with physical l…

The person you’re supposed to be doesn’t exist. It’s a fiction in your head. Kill it and start integrating the person you are with the person you think yourself to be. The way I learned is through taking risks and flirting. Yeah, it’s awkward sometimes, but the take the L. Often I found it’s just me overthinking, and she was actually more attracted and I didn’t realize it. You have naturally seductive qualities. AWALT is a classic hasty generalization. It takes an amalgamation of different negative stereotypes and makes an absolute statement about women from all time until the present. It’s irrational and unwarranted. On another note, consider this: What attracts men to TRP? Generally, their failures with women. Many posts are basically “I’m alone, women suck, I got needy and LTR/plate left me” and so on. It’s a hive-mind of failures giving out advice on successful romantic relationships. They filter th…

TRP isn’t a proof like math. It’s a subject system based on selective interpretations of sociological phenomenon. Math has logical, self-refuting proofs within its system. Ethical systems, especially one as unsophisticated as TRP, don’t have this. TRP Sidebars assumes hypergamy as a sociological fact (it isn’t) and then reason their ethical system from that assumption. No, serious ideologies attempt to address inconsistencies in their systems through logic, evidence, history, theology, precedent, science, reason etc. TRP claims to be just a reaction to women’s psychology but brazenly ignores and derides conflicting evidence. I believe the reason for this is because TRP fulfills a power fantasy over others, and any self-justifying amalgamation of beliefs and evidence which seek that end are plugged into the Catechism of the Sidebar.

TRPers, revealing their lack of life experience, obviously know EVERY reason a mother might be single, and that’s because of her “looseness.” Can’t be that she’s widowed, or left an abusive marriage, or was sexually assaulted. It’s all her fault and she should be avoided like the plague. This is the astounding ignorance TRPers embrace
/r/ExRedPill02/02/20 08:31 PM

Psychology is the study of the human mind. It’s a science with controls and credibility. TRP isn’t psychology. It’s a pop philosophy prescribing a lifestyle using pop psychology, adopting studies justifying the system but rejecting studies which contradict the system.

TRP gets some things right in the first part of the equation (enlightened selfishness, avoid neediness, abundance mentality, etc. ), but on the output gets things wildly wrong (AWALT, Dread Game, DEER, etc.)

TRP contradicts its claim to amorality by creating a system based on value propositions (reason is superior to emotion, women’s hypergamy is unethical, etc.) TRP assumes a natural law theory while preaching antinomianism and implementing pop Greek philosophy while never at attempting to reconcile any of these wildly divergent ethical systems. “Just read the sidebar” (but don’t question the SB’s philosophical assumptions)

It does work for some people. Alpha males do exist, and they know how to work a room to their advantage. That’s one thing I think TRP got right, there is just more nuance than strict Alpha/Beta categories.

You’re only 24. Life if long and you have more opportunities to make a better life. Don’t stress over it, man.

Yeah I don’t agree that lifting will help anything. It is dangerous if you don’t know what you’re doing. What you CAN do though is begin to do SOME physical activity. Running, stretches, burpees. Anything that makes you sweat and concentrate for an hour a day. Change your diet (more veggies, meat, no processed sugars) and cook simple meals at home. Second, do you have a job? If so good you’re doing okay. Keep developing your hobbies and get better at work. Small improvements in your lifestyle wi…

Sorry man, sounds like you went through abuse up and down the spectrum including your parents. Your value is in yourself and your happiness, not what others can get from you. Stay the course. Also, looks have almost nothing to do with being successful in life or with women. Knowing how to talk to people does though

Once you learn how people actually work, TRP seems insufficient and vastly wrong.

I think it’s pretty obvious you find him attractive because of his reactionary and RP beliefs, not in spite of them. Ideological people are attractive, especially those wildly different from us. You like him, you will be alone with home for long periods of time alone, and so you know sex will likely happen. And you want that. Your problem here is that you want us to tell you what you already know: leave him alone and find someone else who is in a healthier state of mind. But I suspect you enjoy …

You’re way overthinking this and looking for problems where they don’t exist. You have a great guy who you’re attracted to. Just enjoy it and stop creating scenarios you have no evidence will occur
