I'm sorry, I couldn't make it even partway through this prolonged furrie fantasy of yours. You are gatekeeping the concept of manhood, yet refer to yourself as a bunny? How does this relate at all to Christianity? I think you're in the wrong sub, mate.

Exactly. Examine yourself first and foremost. OP sounds like the typical Christian today, searching through the Scriptures looking for what is says is wrong with "other people"

My thoughts are that I don't know who that is, so I don't think about him at all.

Paul poses it as a rhetorical question, but I legit don't understand how nature teaches us that long hair is a dishoner to a man. There have been long-haired masculine men throughout history. Sure it doesn't seem to have been as common in the Roman culture, but even throughout the Old Testament there are several examples. Edit: personally I'm bald so doesnt really affect me. I just don't understand the point he is trying to make.

I hear that it is because western civilization burned all of the attractive women at the stake hundreds of years ago because... witchcraft. Now the genepool of those predisposed to Christianity suffers due to the wickedness of previous generations. I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't a type of Divine punishment like some of the curses that you see in the Old Testament as well.

Well like I said, my experience with that stuff is 5 years old at this point so not the most up to date. Coffee Meets Bagel, Hinge, Upward may be worth checking out.

I'm not sure what kind of insights you are expecting here. It really depends on you and the women you choose to date. I met my 2nd wife about 5 years ago on a dating app, but wouldn't necessarily recommend them. I guess it worked out for me but the iverall experience seemed rather shallow.

That doesn't come as a shock to me at all, I spent several years as a single dad. Not sure what this has to di with my original post, though.

The way you talk makes me think you know nothing about his strategy. The church at large, (at least the churches that I've been a part of) didn't make it a point of emphasis to teach boys anything specifically pertaining to becoming a man, codify any aspect of that, or make sure that boys had the influence and mentorship of godly men outside of a boy's immediate family. Not saying that his book is perfect, but I think it is at least a step in the right direction. Again, I don't see the congruenc…

Placing such importance on “feels” that you attribute to the Holy Spirit is dangerous. I just said there is a need for balance. Yes, there is a danger to letting one's emotions guide them. There is also a danger in misinterpreting Scripture or taking it out of context. One needs to balance and check messages from various sources against the teachings of the Bible... but to totally discount the leading of the Holy Spirit and messages from God through other people or events is to discount a lot of…

Those are all good points. I guess I just assumed that since Christianity is a core theme of this sub, that one's identity in Christ would be a baseline from which everything else flows. You are right, I didn't explicitly state that up front - but I totally agree with all of what you said

That's awesome how things worked out for you! I agree, I do take things a bit too seriously at times and that can result in a projection that is counter-productive to my goals. I also thought some of the central themes of the book were good, but the actual concrete examples he provided of the execution of the ceremonies and whatnot felt a bit corny or cringey for my taste and that's what had me looking for inspiration elsewhere. I'm 47, have one son, 11, and another on the way.

I totally agree that my post was somewhat incoherent. I was up late just thinking about these things, then turned to the internet to see what other's experiences were. I didn't really find what I was looking for, so made this 3 am post. Not really looking for help...it is my job to figure out how to raise my kids and I won't ask others to tell me how to do that... but more looking to generate discussion and hear the experiences and ideas of others, and then perhaps I'd find part of that discussi…

There's need for balance. God speaks to us through Scripture, but also through the Holy Spirit who dwells in us as well as through the words of other and circumstances.

In 1 Kings it looks like Solomonn might be the descedant that will reign forever, however we see Solomonn fail tremendously. He was impressive, strong, rich and wise. But that meant nothing when he gave in to sin. What do you mean by this? God blessed Solomon with the priviledge of building the Temple, how did he fail tremendously? Sure he can't compare to Jesus but who can?

I'm sure some people believe that, but it still wouldn't prevent bad marriages or divorces. The church has no practical authority to inflict consequences other than a guilt trip on anyone these days. I got divorced (not by my choosing) and if my church would have excommunicated me over it, I would have either found a different church or just stopped going altogether. Theologians mean well when they talk of this kind of stuff, but in real life it usually manifests in either a self-righteous power…

I think you hit the nail on the head with your first point. Teaching and modelling the right behavior. Its too easy for flawed humans to go overboard on the criticisms and pulling dust out of each others eyes. I grew up in a fairly legalistic church and I think I can trace many of the problems that I'm working to overcome as a man now back to that environment. Too much time spent on what NOT to do and not enough time on what the right way is.

How, exactly, would that solve anything?

There is a difference between being a "Christian" that bears no fruit, and a person (man or woman) who devotes their life to God. Personally, I think your question shows a lack of focus on what is important. Focus on your self. Constantly focus on becoming the best man that you can be. Focus on what you can do for God today. The rest will become self-apparent as a byproduct.

Hey man, you seem like you read alot, and know alot about God already. You may be in the same boat as me and know what you need to do. God spoke to me this morning from Revelation 3, basically telling me to stop pussyfooting around and just do it! Maybe you need to hear this too. Time is short. “Write this letter to the angel of the church in Sardis. This is the message from the one who has the sevenfold Spirit of God and the seven stars: “I know all the things you do, and that you have a reputa…

Absolutely be honest with her. And like others have said don't blame her for any of this. It is in no way her fault. God had forgiven whatever mistakes were in her past and you should have too. It sounds like she was trying to turn her life around and find a way to please you. Be accountable and take whatever consequences there are like a man. Ask forgiveness and then put it behind you. Then you need to take a long look in the mirror and work on yourself before you date again. Read the Bible, an…
