Found out Ex-wife sleeping with someone. We still live togetherI get it. Fortunately there was no affair, at least not one that I knew of. That helped. We were cold and businesslike, and like I said it suuuuuucked, but we made it work for about a year. As for the kids, they started seeing a play therapist and it helped us navigate that as well. We were definitely an outlier. We didn’t go to trial or even mediation. We just emailed each other and sat at the kitchen table three times. We got pointed and cussed at each other a couple times, but it worked. | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/02/24 03:53 PM
Found out Ex-wife sleeping with someone. We still live togetherWe did it. It saved both of us tens of thousands of dollars to do an in-home separation during that time. It was also better for our young kids to have us both available for that period to support them. It sucked for us, but sometimes as parents we do things that suck for the betterment of our kids. | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/02/24 03:05 PM

Is it selfish to want to be happy? To take an action that benefits you at the expense of your wife and kids - yes, that is the definition of selfish. | /r/Divorce_Men | 12/01/24 08:26 PM
Is it selfish to want to be happy?Yes. It’s selfish. You won’t be happier. Your happiness in life shouldn’t be based on another person. If it is, you still won’t be happy. I suggest therapy for you and for your marriage. | /r/Divorce_Men | 12/01/24 11:18 AM
Boob jobIt sounds like she’s going through what is called “second adolescence.” It is a common thing when women go through a divorce or a separation. They can become very preoccupied with their appearance, much like they did in their teens when they started to get into boys. If things go well on that front, that’s one thing. If it doesn’t, watch for her to make an overture toward you. | /r/Divorce_Men | 06/01/24 03:46 AM
Men who pay Child Support - What do you pay per month?Missouri 2 kids My salary: $135k Her salary: $100k (part time at 28 hours) No alimony. I successfully got her income imputed to what it would be if she worked full time. We have 50/50 custody and visitation. She claims the kids for taxes every year. She pays health premiums through her work. I do dental and vision. I pay orthodontia up to $2400 and then we split. We split all medical above premiums. We split everything else. Child support: $513 In Missouri, you fill out Form 14 and that’s that. | /r/Divorce_Men | 19/12/23 04:28 AM
Glad I found this placeSalary hasn’t changed. Went from dual income with a total at 235k to single income at 130k. Had to refinance the house to give her half of the equity. That $190k check suuuuucked to write. Had to buy a new vehicle, increase my house payment by 40%, and start paying child support despite 50/50 visitation and her working part time for a $105k salary. I went from very comfortable living to living paycheck to paycheck despite a very good salary. I kept the house so the kids don’t have to lose that t… | /r/Divorce_Men | 12/12/23 05:31 AM
The forgive your ex crap really pisses me offForgiveness is not for them. It’s for you. You relinquish all power they have over your feelings when you forgive. You show you’re the bigger person. Being amicable with her also helps the kids. They love her, and if someone they love openly dislikes her, it causes confusion and makes them question their own judgment. I say alot of, “You have a great mother who loves you more than anything in the world. We just couldn’t continue.” | /r/Divorce_Men | 08/12/23 02:48 AM
Name one of the best things that has come from your divorce.I no longer have a constant sense of dread, wondering what I’m going to do next to disappoint my wife. I can parent my kids however the hell I want without her second guessing and judging my every decision. I no longer have to walk around on eggshells. I can work late if I have to without having to explain myself to anybody. | /r/Divorce_Men | 05/12/23 04:33 AM

Marriage as a good way to preserve wealthIf you have a successful marriage and your spouse has a good job, then it’s is much better financially. Two incomes over $100k is far better than one. I’m divorced and make $130k and am living paycheck to paycheck. I had to refinance the house to give her half of the equity ($194k). I got the house in the divorce and am keeping it because of interest rates and the housing market. We split the rest of the finances and that was another $70k. My house payment almost doubled. I needed a vehicle and … | /r/Divorce_Men | 05/11/23 02:41 PM
Separated about to reconcile but wife has told me she slept with someoneWomen have emotionally checked out long before they decide to divorce. Months, even years. That’s why they get over it faster. To them, the divorce happened long ago. | /r/Divorce_Men | 14/10/23 05:04 AM
Separated about to reconcile but wife has told me she slept with someoneHave you tried marital therapy? The simple fact is that over half of marriages experience infidelity, and there is a definite gray area in this case because of the separation. Having worked with many, many couples in this situation, here is what often happens. After separation, the wife goes through a “second adolescence” where they seek male attention and validation. Then after they go out and act on it, one of two things happens. One - they really like it and steer into the skid. The marriage … | /r/Divorce_Men | 14/10/23 04:59 AM
Men in your 40s dating younger women, what are you guys doing?Only online. Meeting people organically isn’t really a thing for me anymore. Tinder sucks. Bumble is better. Hinge is very good. I met my gf on Match. | /r/Divorce_Men | 01/10/23 02:06 AM
Men in your 40s dating younger women, what are you guys doing?44M here. Post divorce I went on lots of dates and the youngest was 26. She had a son and was the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen in real life. But we had almost nothing in common. She was mature in some areas, but immature in too many other areas. Could I have tried to string it out for some sex? Yeah, I could have, but I’m not a 21-year old college guy anymore. That was the realization that I only went on the date because I wanted to sleep with a hot woman in her 20s. I just am not that gu… | /r/Divorce_Men | 30/09/23 11:01 PM
Anyone here feel like they're just never gonna date again? You’ll know when you’re ready. I’m 44. I went through that stage. I have a 10 year old son and an 8 year old daughter who I have 50/50. I just started exclusively dating a 42-year old with three sons aged 13, 8, and 5. We went through our summer calendars and found 27 times we could see each other. It takes that kind of planning, but so far I like what we’ve got going. It’s the first time I’ve been with someone with whom I can be my truest, most authentic self and be liked for it. We were just c… | /r/Divorce_Men | 25/06/23 10:47 PM

Financial Settlement in MissouriMy defined pension is awesome. When I retire I’ll make 75% of my income every year until I die. I will also be able to get a $500k lump sum. Hers is all that she’s got. That, to me, is why it feels like it’s too far. | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/01/22 10:42 PM
