STBXW and I are likely going to mediate starting late January. I make 135k, which includes a 15k bonus I’m making just for this year. Salary next year is 122k. STBXW works 28 hours a week and makes 100k plus full benefits. Her employer would take her full time in a heartbeat, but she likes part time with two younger kids aged 9 and 6.

She wants no alimony but wants child support even with 50/50 visitation and joint custody. I say she can work full time like the rest of the planet and if she did she’d make more than me.

I have a defined pension that by statute she can’t touch. I have two other retirement accounts with about $100k in them total. Her retirement has $650k in it. I’ve told her that if she goes for child support, then I’m going for half of her retirement. Personally, I don’t want to go for that. She says she should get half of my $100k because I earned a masters and a doctorate while married. I know that’s bullshit.

She’s keeping the house but I’m getting half of the equity.

Am I being fair? I think she is overdoing it. Technically I can fight child support and still go for half of her retirement but that just feels wrong.
