That makes a lot of sense. For me if someone shows interest I'll move heaven and earth to make them happy and it can get to be a bit much for them. The part that hurts is when they are at a point where they'd just rather be friends they won't say anything, and instead just get distant which causes me to spiral into a "what did I do wrong" type of brain fog and my anxiety ramps up

I guess I wrote my original post wrong. I've ALWAYS had this problem. Even before being married. I tend to latch on very quickly to someone that shows interest in me. Even if they are in it for the short term, I'll get the feels. Unless it's directly communicated that this is a one time thing or just a fwb type situation.

So, I'm the one that left. I told her I still wanted us to be friendly and amicable towards each other. Right now it's hit or miss which is understandable since I'm the one who left her. It seems to me that when she needs something (I told her I'd help her with house things and others) she tends to be a bit nicer. More than likely it will end up with us just drifting apart and not communicating once the divorce is final.

Just start out small. That's really all there is to it. Take yourself out to eat at a restaurant. Or perhaps take yourself to see a movie. I know it's all hard to do, because I'm the same way. You honestly just have to pick yourself up and go do something. It could be the smallest thing like go to the hardware store and look around and then just go back home. Yes I'm sure talking to a counselor or a therapist may help, but they aren't going to be able to fix you. All they can do is give you the …
