I think you know what you need to do. Honestly, I kinda had a "I'll never feel love" feeling when I would think about letting her go (mind you we have 3 kids). But I've found love again. And my kids love me. I know its scary, but you gotta try to move forward, start with yourself. One day at a time, simple tasks: try a jog today.

I remember when I got divorced. I moved out. I rented a house, unfurnished. I bought some used couches and a new 60" tv. The TV was in the box and I laid on the couch, no fridge, no bed, nothing. I had electricity and internet though :) so I got myself UP from the couch and unboxed the TV. I had tools, i took those from my marital home when I left. I hung the freaking TV, by myself, then I laid on the couch and watched TV. I did that. Alone. And I knew I could do anything and I still have. Yes, …

Yes. I feel you. You couldn’t fix this one. But that’s ok. You’ll get to that state soon. Work on you, I know a lot of men say that post divorce. But do your thing, go to a strip club, drink a bit. Then focus on health. Exercise. Coach. Focus on work. Eventually buy new clothes. Look at yourself in the mirror. The go on a date. Flirt. It’ll be fun.

Don’t date. She will change. And you sure she’s ok with you taking your kid out of state or country? What if you need to take a work trip, and she does too, she ok with you leaving kid with x-persona?

I don’t get that. Mine asked for a divorce and I obliged. Yes I was broken and lost it all. But I never wanted to go back. I moved on. I don’t get this. A few friends of mine also were slapped with divorced, one finalized but still fucking his ex and the other reconciled and the divorced died after 1 year. A few others too.

Technically yes. I’ll look into it

She has to assume the loan, she hasn't. not sure why. My guess is to not lose the 2% rate we had due to current rates?

I hear you. I pay child support. I'm still on the marital home's loan, I see her send the child support as extra payment, then when I ask to use the after school day-care our kids are part of (on her custodial days), she says I have to pay half if I want to use it, otherwise i'm not allowed to drop off the kids in the program on my custodial days. So I'm left finding my own care. we don't co-parent. we parallel-parent, each house has its own rules. child support sucks. She has money, all she has…

It’s not “afraid to be alone” and it’s not “alone in a room with 100 people around me” It’s more than that

Yeah. You said it. I’m 100%. I don’t feel like I should or even want to tell my ex anything ! I treat her like she doesn’t exist, i don’t call, text, or go over. With the kids I always tell them that I picked a good mom for them. They agree. That’s it.

Basically yes. For the last year. And the kids wake up and jump into bed with us.

She’s never been married. Was in 20 year + relationship hell. She has a mom & dad, siblings, nieces, etc. super loving. Super accepting. I love them all. She’s amazing. I’ve met multiple friends of hers that tell me how amazing she is, I interrupt them and tell them that I already know. I don’t need to lose her to know how amazing she is. I already know.

What is healed? It’s: no triggers. She (ex) can say whatever she wants, you’re good It’s: your family calls you and opinionated, you’re good. It’s: your friends call and remind you of some BS they May want an apology for, you’re good It’s: you’re alone in your house, for hours, and you’re good. It’s: you’re with a new partner, significant other, and you’re not processing shit after while your girl is trying to spend time with you It’s: you’re not at the bar, you’re at the gym first. Then maybe g…

Wish my lawyer would have said that before I paid them when they agreed to file for me and take the case.

No alimony because I gave up everything … plus more than I’m not willing to share (my balls)

I wish I would have set a 2-2-5 schedule instead of a 2-2-3 schedule for our 50/50 custody. Also wish I had set who gets to claim the kids each year on taxes Also wish I had a summer schedule of 7-days per parent so that I can work.

Dude. I was 100% the same. The touching of feet. The couch thing. The lack of intimacy. I cooked. Cleaned. Etc. and yes I worked two full time jobs 8-5pm (no, they didn’t know lol) as a software engineer (> $400k/yr). I’m officially divorced. I have 50/50 custody of my kids. I’m in a new relationship. I’m happy. It’s amazing how now i see red flags. I dated a bit. Kisses girls etc. but they didn’t do it for me. I did walk away. Then I met my current girlfriend. Amazing. Just wow. We click. We kn…

No clue. She won’t talk to me about child support or alimony or asset division or anything. Just wants things to stay the same except divorced.

Lawyer indicated there is no negative repercussion in California for moving out. There is no abandonment law.

I was in a similar scenario. She asked for separation and then a divorce. Once she used the D word, I was out. I asked her why she didn’t file, no answer. I asked her why if she is so unhappy she doesn’t move out to her parents, no answer. I finally had enough of the emotional detachment. So I filed. It was hard. But I had friends help me through that process. She got served. She was angry and told people I initiated the divorce. I didn’t. I didn’t ask for any of this. In fact she made fun of me…

Hey dude. Sorry bro. I’m afraid of this happening to me too. Just stays positive. If/when you see your boys, be calm and loving (I’m sure you always are). It’s a process. Draw lines.

The reason I’m moving out during the divorce is because of false DV accusations. I can’t be myself. Have a chill afternoon, she’ll come at me for something even though she sleeps in the bedroom and I sleep on the couch or office. We went on a family camping trip (fresh divorce decision was made a week before, kept the trip for the kids), she accused me of kicking her inflatable mattress as I walked into the tent from peeing in the middle of the light … twice ! Gaslighting is a real thing. It’s t…

I think that’s a nice suggestion. But overnight I think I came up with an idea, going to give up more in assets. See if she’ll go for it

OP here. What if I offer to pay all her utilities and mortgage? That be considered alimony? Man this sucks. All I did was work hard all my life. Now she says she doesn’t want to be married.
