Appreciate the feedback. We have been living together for a year and neither of us is really interested in kids. Your last point stands out; I treat her no differently than I would if she were my wife but I know the title holds weight to many. Doesn't help that all her sisters are tying the knot ha

Just out of curiosity, do you know if your friend is satisfied with this route? I’m approaching a similar timeline with my partner and the pressure is from everywhere wondering when we’ll make it official. But all is going great imo

Enterprise AE is on average 5+ years of quota carrying experience with a track record of success handling complex deals. Could be longer/shorter depending on the organization type (start up vs large F500), timing, luck etc. The most common way to get a foot in is to start as a Business Development Rep (BDR) or Sales Development Rep (SDR). You will spend your days doing high volume cold outreach to clients (calls, emails, social media) and sometimes handling inbound leads with the goal of trying …

Two books that helped me a lot are Rational Male and Efficiency by Wall Street Playboys. I feel you. There's so many different companies and solutions that you may be able to find a vertical that piques your interest. Whether it be fintech, education, marketing. I am personally in the analytics space. But you're right, since SaaS products are getting more complex, it definitely helps to take a more consultative approach. Im in software sales and got in after college. I saw that WSPB articles too and read their book Efficiency before taking the role. I work at a start up as an Account Exec and the vibe isnt as rigid as typical corporate environment which i like a lot. If you are good, you will make good cash. This is very dependent on location, product, etc. Im atill young and haven't been at it long, but can see that there is some upward mobility.

I feel you, I'd hate doing door to door too. I work for a tech company and we sell Business to Business only. We provide a solution that boosts productivity and companies actually experience ROI from it, nothing shady or fake in the process. Everything done via phone, web meeting, and email. As everyone has said, she sounds cool. If things are good right now, no need to rock the boat worrying about the future. Just enjoy it now; you're feelings about long vs short term desires may change along the way. As long as you continue to vet her, stay aware of RP principles, and have boundaries and be ready to walk when they're crossed, you should be fine. Also don't let this keep you from engaging with other women.

I wont say whether or not she cheated on you or found someone better bc none of us really know. What I am sure of though, is this is not a coincidence given the plans with her girls she has coming up, especially since you mentioned they never liked you. 4 years together is easy for you to get complacent, too attached, put her on a pedestal and for her to subsequently lose tingles. A lot of good answers here. Esp the notion that you cannot work on the relationship, you work on yourself and it follows. Do not argue with her anymore, start reading on Stoicism. This is my experience in a nutshell. The worst is when she's attractive and by the time she's close enough for you to actually focus on her face, she thinks you're not interested or nervous bc you didn't look back earlier lol The best thing I've done is embrace how I look with my glasses. My girl has always complimented them, and I think some girls are into that look even more. But I have an eye appt this weekend, so I may go the contacts route. We'll see!

Same issue. It used to be worse but I'm more comfortable with it as I've raised smv. But I have terrible eyesight and astigmatism, so sometimes when I try to be cool and not where my glasses, I struggle with eye contact and seeing IOIs in general. Need to get contacts lol

No prob. I'm currently an SDR at a medium sized tech start up in a major midwestern city. When i was first getting into the space, those two articles helped me wrap my head around the tech sales career trajectory. Im still fairly new to the industry but feel free to PM if u have questions. If I don't know the answer, I may be able to point you in the right direction. The best part is that your degree won't be a hinderance. From what I've seen, hard work and experience counts a lot more.
/r/askTRP02/02/19 09:48 PM

That's perfect experience to spin, definitely highlight that on resume or during potebtial interview. Sales Development Rep (SDR) or Business Development Rep (BDR) is the name of the entry level sales position, very common term with tech companies. You might find these two articles pretty interesting to get started: http://wallstreetplayboys.com/enterprise-sales-a-legitimate-career-to-get-rich/ http://wallstreetplayboys.com/what-happens-when-you-execute-with-efficiency/

Keep major, use experience to pivot into entry level B2B sales position, perferably tech/SaaS. Look for SDR positions at large tech firms or start ups.

My routine is really similar to yours from an organisational standpoint. One thing that may help your laziness that I do is to move your workout to the morning. Likewise, I appreciate the rationality in your response. I actually discovered TRP during the time of this incident. It has helped me but I try to keep in mind that certain things aren't so black and white. Her admitting played a role in me taking her back at the time. I will try to take a step back & not only re-evaluate my outlook on the apartment shit but the relationship as a whole. Thanks man
/r/askTRP26/11/18 06:43 AM
2

Yeah you're right. I was in a weird place when I took her back. First apartment off campus, trouble making college friends, hard classes. But Thanks man. You pretty much hit the nail on the head. Esp the bit about what if we hit a bump in the road. I know things change drastically when you move in. But yeah I feel like the damage is done. I'd hate to sour the arrangement by being resentful every time she meets friends for a drink or something. I'll def reevaluate things.

I agree if you mean a random no name State school. Although An econ degree from a top institution like U Chicago is powerful and will open up many doors in the financial sector. Even a finance degree from a school with a highly ranked (Target) undergrad business program would be useful.

Try to mediate and sort your mentality out and the positive actions will follow.
