I totally agree with you about how confidence is key, and especially the planning to do better part, but I don't wanna sound too invested in whoever I'm talking to. Like to me it seems too much and not worth justification y'know? Also I don't think I'm that egotistical. After somebody says "that's a good idea" I usually bite back with "yeah, because it's mine" with a wink, or something playful along those lines. Thanks tho! ♂ (does this actually give points?)
