Since direct X 10, they switched to stream processors instead of separate texture and geometry units -- performance is so far beyond the 7800. PC hardware just blows away pretty much anything on console. It's more expensive in hardware, but you can do a lot more with a PC, games are cheaper, or free (steam sales, humble bundle, gog, etc...). I can't think of a single way consoles are better, other than just the upfront cost of a PS4 vs the cost of a gaming PC.
