Lifting For Size ConsensusLook into the Super Squat program if you want to pack on some mass. It is basically a group of accessory lifts that are built around a single set of 20 squats that increases in weight every workout. Be sure to bring your big boy pants to the gym. If you aren’t having your ass handed to you by the program you aren’t doing it correctly. | /r/askMRP | 17/12/19 09:13 PM
How to lift?Generally speaking most guys will see significant gains in their first year of lifting as long as they push themselves and maintain consistency. That being said, do some research to determine your genetic body type (ectomorph/endomorph/mesomorph) so you can make sure you have reasonable expectations for your progress. If you are an ectomorph and you end up having a hard time gaining muscle you will know not to get frustrated and give up. If you are mesomorph and you aren’t building muscle, you w… | /r/askMRP | 22/01/19 04:11 PM
Accidental Dread. Is comfort needed?Duly noted. | /r/askMRP | 29/06/18 10:19 PM
Accidental Dread. Is comfort needed?Thank you for the feedback. I wasn’t as clear as I should have been regarding comfort. My weakness with regard to comfort is I’m not very good at identifying when it is needed and then providing it. I’m not completely horrible at it but I am self aware enough to recognize that it’s an area where I need improvement. Sex and respect from her are there so I need to make sure I’m reciprocating with the proper level of comfort. | /r/askMRP | 29/06/18 05:32 PM
Thank you all!22% is pretty good for your weight. That means you have a decent amount of lean body mass that will aid in burning calories. One bit of caution I would offer is that I have never found either the hand held or scale versions of body fat scanners to be very accurate. If you have access to a Bod Pod or water displacement I would recommend that. The closest thing I have found to a Bod Pod is a good set of calipers. Good luck and keep up the hard work! | /r/MarriedRedPill | 29/06/18 11:16 AM
Accidental Dread. Is comfort needed?I see what you are saying here. Even though I wasn’t intending to make her fear loss of provisioning that was the outcome. Since I don’t negotiate desire as a rule, that’s why her reaction was so out of the ordinary. I can see my mistake was not considering her reaction to the house ownership. I have other properties that I solely own just as she has a business that she solely owns but it’s different when it’s our primary residence in question. Thanks for the response. | /r/askMRP | 29/06/18 11:11 AM
Thank you all!A great next step for you would be to get your body composition measured. Don’t rely solely on the scale. If your BF percentage is still relatively high (say 25% or over) I would recommend concentrating on building more lean muscle mass first as additional muscle mass will increase your BMR and make losing fat easier later on. Don’t take that as a free pass to dirty bulk. Be reasonable and eat high quality foods but make sure you are ingesting enough protein and getting enough sleep to fuel musc… | /r/MarriedRedPill | 29/06/18 12:03 AM
Seeking feedback on stronglifts 5x5.We all start somewhere. It’s likely the guys you see lifting heavy weights started at weights similar to where you are now. They kept working and got stronger and you will too as long as you stick with it. Keep in mind the work you put in while at the gym is only a piece of the pie. Work on you form and mobility to help keep you healthy and avoid injury. Eat high quality foods and get the necessary amount of sleep so your body will recover and grow. If you are new to lifting you should see a sig… | /r/askMRP | 28/06/18 08:19 PM
Accidental Dread. Is comfort needed?I see your point but I don’t have any major complaints about her behavior and I didn’t do any of this as a means of adjusting her behavior. I just want to make sure it doesn’t negatively affect her behavior. | /r/askMRP | 28/06/18 01:33 PM
Accidental Dread. Is comfort needed? No, she knew about the house and how the ownership would be set up. She has only questioned it one time and now I’m here asking people for thoughtful advice. I’m not following you on your final comment. Would you care to elaborate on your thoughts? | /r/askMRP | 28/06/18 12:45 PM
Accidental Dread. Is comfort needed?I understand what you are saying. Regardless of intent/lack of intent, all that matters with regard to her feelings is is how she interprets the situation. But I’ve read elsewhere on MRP that her feelings are her responsibility and not mine. That thinking kind of flies in the face of providing comfort then doesn’t it? I understand this would not technically be dread as it is discussed from an SMV standpoint. But doesn’t SMV based dread make a woman dread losing her man and provisioning to anothe… | /r/askMRP | 28/06/18 12:42 PM
Accidental Dread. Is comfort needed?I see where you are coming from. The situation with the house wasn’t done with the intention of using it to hold over her or manipulate her. She was aware of why it was done and understands it. But to your point, even if I didn’t do it with the goal of manipulating her she may misconstrue it to be that way. I appreciate your response. | /r/askMRP | 28/06/18 12:08 PM
Accidental Dread. Is comfort needed?I appreciate the response and it shows that I didn’t do as good of a job explaining the situation as I could have. I just didn’t want there to be a larger wall of text than there already was. She was aware of the house. She went and looked at it with me for the first time and loved it. I didn’t set up the purchase and ownership of the house as a means of manipulating her. I did it as a business decision. Hence the “accidental” in my thread title. I’m just asking how far I should go to instill so… | /r/askMRP | 28/06/18 11:32 AM
Accidental Dread. Is comfort needed?Agreed. I’m certainly not suggesting that I cancel out all the dread. But I readily admit that giving comfort is a weakness of mine so I just want to make sure I keep things balanced. Thanks for the feedback. | /r/askMRP | 27/06/18 11:24 PM
Accidental Dread. Is comfort needed? To each his own. Pussy is something that adds to my quality of life but is not the sole or even the most important variable in my happiness and satisfaction with life. | /r/askMRP | 27/06/18 10:32 PM
Accidental Dread. Is comfort needed?I could have worded that better. My wife’s level of dread is not, nor will it ever be used as a barometer for my self improvement. I will never base a decision on which choice will yield more dread. That is because her level of dread is not the endgame, fulfilling and exceeding my potential is. | /r/askMRP | 27/06/18 09:16 PM
Accidental Dread. Is comfort needed? All good points. I definitely agree with what you are saying about ultimatums. I’m not looking to turn this situation into some type of negotiation just make sure it is utilized to maximum capacity without any overkill. | /r/askMRP | 27/06/18 09:11 PM
Accidental Dread. Is comfort needed?Very good point. I just reacted instinctively and your suggestion is a more well thought out response that can aid in setting behavioral expectations more directly. Thank you. | /r/askMRP | 27/06/18 07:12 PM
New guy... looking for some advice.Scale doesn’t matter. Get your body composition checked. | /r/askMRP | 07/06/18 10:31 PM
Body fat % for Visible abs?Good work on the weight loss so far. Your best bet for rep range will be 6-10 for most exercises so you can stimulate muscle growth. For muscle growth you have to hit hypertrophy. You want to think more about body composition than the number on the scale. If you live in an area where a BodPod or something similar is available I would recommend it. If not buy some nice calipers and use those. Gaining muscle helps with fat loss because it raises your BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate). You will need to ea… | /r/askMRP | 07/06/18 10:04 PM
Not a question, just an exclamationIf you have some additional reading time I recommend Starting Strength by Mark Rippetoe. He also has some great videos online where he teaches proper form and technique for the major barbell movements. One of my biggest challenges when I got more serious about barbell movements was mobility. Kelly Starrett videos helped with that. Best of luck. | /r/askMRP | 03/01/18 07:21 PM
