I'm an electrician working in the Alberta oil industry. Cost of living isn't particularly high, but the average wage is. I also work 12+ hour days up to 24 days in a row (followed by 4 days off), which is why my income seems high but my wage really isn't. I just do a lot of overtime and work a lot of days.
