I've successfully gotten her to use OFW for most everything which has reduced her emotional manipulations but tbh despite all of her numerous faults and the conflicts we have my STBXW does try to work with me especially since I have been ridiculously accommodating to her in making sure she has every opportunity to see our son. It took a bit of work and greyrocking to get there, we had to have some blowouts and me blocking her phone number temporarily in order to reinforce the the boundaries but …

My STBXW moved us 3 different times in our 4 and half years of marriage, two of them across country, with an additional temporary stint on the other side of the country while someone had to keep an eye on our house.

It's hard not to when she keeps trying to reassert control over my life. This morning her new attempt to control me is to try and get me to let her have our son on a specific weekend her dad and brother are visiting, which just happens to be the same weekend my family has been planning a big weekend trip for the kids. I gave her the dates back in early May, and even went over it with her again just last week and she's coming to me acting like she was only vaguely aware of it and then trying to g…

I got all of our mutual friends. She has some work friends but she never seemed particularly close with them. I'm pretty sure she mostly talks to her affair partner, her dad, and her brother, and then superficially with all of her co-worker friends.

Ive used it to help me understand very general stuff and to help me write incident report on my STBXW but I mostly use it as a sounding board. It's no substitute for a good lawyer.

Not quite that but definitely did revisionism

Wife threatened to divorce me over something about 18 months ago. It was a thing that was inconsequential and never happened again but in hindsight now it's obvious she was looking for any excuse.

Feel free to tell us how you handled your divorce and custody situation

As an addendum to this I told my STBXW an hour ago how sad our son is and does she think we should get him therapy? Her response was about how terrible she feels and how much he must really enjoy their time together and she super duper promises she's going to work less now. I can't squeeze empathy from a narcissistic stone

We don't badmouth each other, we do stuff together with our son. He's upset because he wants his mom to come home. I never made her leave. She chose the life she wants and I make sure he talks to his mom every day and encourage their relationship. I understand why you might have misread my situation but I have been an immaculate co-parent who goes out of his way to make sure he sees his mentally ill workaholic mother in spite of the road blocks she gives me I wouldn't be meeting her at extracurr…

Saw she said she was unhappy in her marriage. Scrolled down until I found the affair partner (a co-worker, of course) Why is it always like this. Sorry this is happening to you. Document everything and record everything if state laws allow

On the darker side of it i appreciate how easy it is to track and document the STBX's every lie. She was begging me in tears today to streamline the divorce and agreed to everything I wanted because my documentation has been so thorough. Technology is a tool that can only help us in these situations. To keep our relationships with our children and to track the lies and abuse we've endured.

Just ignore the nonsense that comes out of their mouths. If we could change them we wouldn't be posting in this sub.

I would prefer this instead of her constantly trying fo emotionally engage with me and getting me to feel sorry for her

This is so funny to me because after I lost my shit over the affair partner she agreed to not bring him back around until the divorce is finalized and knowing how she is going to drag this out

LMFAO The STBXW's affair partner is also apparently going through a really hard time and is filing for divorce (six months after the affair supposedly began) and he's just so confused about his feelings.

Oh hey look it's my experience too. It's almost like you can set a clock to how predictable of a pattern this is and we delude ourselves into thinking it won't happen to me

Strange to me that anyone would see it at any other way. Im cordial with my STBXW and today I recorded a video of our son telling her Happy Mothers Day and that he loves her for her, and his school had already helped him make a present for her, but she's not getting anything from me. I had to specifically tell her not to get me any birthday presents as she wants us to still be friends and care about each other. That's not possible, not after everything that happened. We can be friendly and cordi…

I'm not even divorced yet and I'm getting her nothing for tomorrow orher than a reminder we don't have a relationship with each other and not to buy me any birthday gifts

I haven't had to have this experience yet but I don't think you're being overprotective at all, especially since I think your instincts that she's known this guy longer than she's letting on are correct.

Get everything you deserve and more. The fact your post doesn't mention a lawyer worries me though. Document everything and get a lawyer on retainer ASAP

Record anytime you are around her if your laws permit. Become a fortress. My STBX has been trying to be buddy-buddy while also guilt tripping me and trying to make me do what she wants while I stall until I get the lawyer's retainer. Just imagine you were trying to be the perfect client for a lawyer and let that guide you.

First post I open in this subreddit is something I could be writing right now. Wow. Good luck man, I'm going through something similar. Hope we both make it
