I played too nice and I regret it.

This! Also, shop around for a better lawyer. Don't just go cheap like I did. Expect war, but hope for peace.

Don't be nice. I took the high road during my divorce. I tried to be fair.

I don't miss the gaslighting, the loneliness, the attitude, the neurotic rules that don't make sense, and not having dogs on the furniture. I sleep in a large dog pile now and it's great.

She brought her brother over to grab her things because she said that she was physically afraid of me. In 16 years, I have never threatened her even once. I've never screamed at her, nor have I given her any reason to be afraid of me.

I bought a motorcycle and got into D&D. It helped me meet new people.

Look into going for an annulment as opposed to divorce.

Bought a motorcycle. I'm still depressed, but I do get happy while riding it.

Very true. She threatened me with separation like it was a weapon, so I found an attorney the next day.

I calculated the alimony for my state, and I knew my attorneys cost up front. The average court battle in my county is around $15,000 in attorney fees alone. I'm only paying her around $8,000 over the next 2 years. It sucks that she's coming out ahead, but she doesn't matter. I matter, and I'm saving a lot of time and money by paying her alimony. In a perfect world, she would be getting only 1/2 of the house.

It's natural to feel how you are feeling. Doesn't make it any easier, but you're not alone. Your relationship died. It's ok to feel grief. Part of being a man is embracing the pain, acknowledge it, and then take this world by the balls. It's going to suck, it's going to hurt, but it will be ok. You've got this, bro. For some men, this is the hardest fight of their lives. I spent 14 months in Afghanistan as a Combat Medic, but my divorce still hits me harder than the war did. I spent 2020 working…

I'm trying to buy my ex out of the house. I can't wait to make the space mine. I'm going to lose that sweet 2.6% interest rate, but I know that it will be worth it in the end.

I won't say my state just in case her attorney browses these forms. It was shared with my attorney during the discovery phase.

I'm very sorry to hear that. It does help. Thankfully, I convinced her to get a job before we split. She took a year to "find herself", but did nothing with it.

Married 8 years She makes about 55% of what I make, excluding my veterans benefits. I filed for divorce, but she asked for it in writing 3 months prior. She has a Bachelors degree. I have a Bachelors degree. 100% of my degree was paid for by the VA, but she also submitted Facebook screen shots of me thanking her for her and other people for their "support" when I graduated. There is a marital home with a mortgage. I've made every payment, and I am presently living in it by myself. She is current…

I might be the outlier on this, but what seems fair and honorable is that her stuff is hers, and your stuff is yours. Did you contribute to her 401k or her savings? If not, then take the 7k and say thank you. Then go 50/50 on the assets you both have a stake in. Just because you can go for more doesn't mean you morally deserve it.

My ex had a bearded dragon who was my homeboy. I took care of him, I fed him bugs because she couldn't stand them, and I even took him on walks with me so that he could feel the sunshine. When she split, she took him away and gave him to a stranger on Facebook Marketplace. I don't know what she did with the cats, but I miss them.

Good job dude. You're not a failure if it led to personal growth. You had fun, right? You felt good for a while, and you noped out if there when the red flags popped up. We'll done.
