The records will show that yeah, but from my understanding with the way DBS works now there'll be a disclosure officer of some sorts who will review the request for info on these chaps and will decide what needs disclosing and what doesn't. So if they apply to be teachers in a school, the data manager will quite rightly not disclose this as it was discovered they were completely innocent. Whilst it will remain on the PNC (Police National Computer) - where it shows as 'NFA' (No Further Action) - …

They're kept on a VP (vulnerable person) wing in prisons in the UK. They're not usually forced to mix with the general prison population.

I don't read any of those so I've no idea. The lack of good men's magazines doesn't mean a newspaper for women shouldn't focus on women's stories though.

there is absolutely Zero value in "that is offensive" or "I am offended" when you are having a debate or discussion or lecture such as this setting. Always reminds me of this....

It's from a newspaper that is specifically about female issues. Would you be upset if a newspaper about male issues wanted to write about a male death?
/r/MensRights05/05/20 02:15 PM

In this case, the article comes from The Lily which is a women's newspaper and it is unsurprising that it has a story about women. Yup - this. It's not a big shock that a newspaper about X runs a story pertaining to X.

I would say being murdered by your parter constitutes domestic violence. It fits the definition here in the UK and I'm pretty sure it'll fit the US definition too. You can't get more violent than killing someone.

Also, try, fail, try fail, is not necessarily good all the time. If you are like me, who tried much harder than my peers in matters of relationships, and always failed, then there is mistake somewhere else. I think generally success is born from failure. Most things worth achieving are done with failure along the route. I'm not saying try the exact same thing - I'm saying try again, learn from your mistake and give it a go. There's definitely a time and a place for being told to just man up. We've all met people who really - just needed to man the fuck up and get on with it. Sometimes the problem is everyone around them pandering to them, and nobody telling them No - just deal with your damn problem. The problem arises when someone's answer to everything is "man up" - there are absolutely times and situations where "man up" isn't helpful. You need to judge each situation by it's merits and not have a one size fits …

I'm a cop - albeit in the UK - and unfortunately there's plenty of people who have a few lines and want to fight everyone. I'm sure it doesn't happen for everyone - but I've lost count of how many 'cokeheads' I've had to fight with (on duty of course).

I know this might sound bad but these guys honestly deserve to be ashamed. You're absolutely right - it does sound bad. Many of these victims will have children with these women, and their finances are often such that they are utterly financially dependent on remaining with their partner. Firstly, that isn't true - it's 3x. Secondly - you're acknowledging that girls do get expelled from school - contradicting your claim that "if a girl did this, nothing would happen" Thirdly - you've not provided anything that substantiates that a girl, in identical circumstances wouldn't get expelled. Again - this isn't anything to do with gender.

“Violent” behavior is boyish Sorry that's insufficient. There's a huge sliding scale - on the one end you have play fighting - on the other end you have causing significant and serious injury intentionally. As there's no context given - I've no way of knowing if this boy has just been engaging in a bit of light hearted rough and tumble in the playground - or trying to stab a classmate in the eye with scissors...which I am sure you'd agree can't just be casually dismissed with a "boys will be boy…

That is a staggeringly one-sided and biased article. So, what's the solution? Well, experts suggest women should work shorter weeks to allow for the unpaid work they do, such as domestic chores, which is on average about 4.5 hours every day, the study found. 1) Women already do work shorter weeks - the average working week for women is shorter both in Europe and in the US 2) There's absolutely no fucking way that even a significant number of women are doing anything close to a full shift in work and then '4.5hours per day' of domestic chores - I m…

/r/MensRights06/01/20 05:24 PM

I think you've consistently demonstrated we have VERY different ideas of what constitutes 'evidence' - you seem to think evidence consists of making a claim, and providing something that doesn't prove your claim. You also seem to think assumptions are sufficient. I'm not really sure how else I could explain this to you - you're either arguing in bad faith at the moment, or you're just not capable of grasping fairly simple concepts.
/r/MensRights06/01/20 05:01 PM
1

So you don't have any evidence? Just assumption? Her defense team believed the video proved she lied. A bold claim - and one you've failed to substantiate. I have a funny feeling your next reply will equally fail to substantiate your claim.
/r/MensRights06/01/20 03:15 PM
1

That's a long way of saying "No, I don't have a source that her defence team believed the video proved she lied." Do you have a source evidencing the fact that her defence team believed the video proved she lied? You've provided evidence that her legal team said it would affect her mental health - absolutely nothing evidencing they believed the video proved her account to be false.

/r/MensRights06/01/20 07:55 AM

You've taken a huge leap and decided that the video proves her guilt. It doesn't. 1) We have not seen the video. 2) Allegedly the male's phones were not downloaded - therefore there is no way of knowing if any video presented to the authorities by the males or their representatives is in fact unedited. 3) The video likely does not show the entire encounter - you will not be (or should not be) particularly shocked to know that events can happen after a video stops recording, as well as before. Are there exceptions? Sure, there are women that can throw a nasty punch, and in those situations when you feel endangered, go for it. Meh - this one works both ways. Plenty of men run up huge debts and aren't entirely truthful with their other half. This is more of an 'asshole' thing, than a woman thing.

Certainly true of some women yeah. I think you definitely see it in those glossy women's mags - one page will be talking about body positivity and a picture of a 'larger' woman who is apparently brave and beautiful because she is morbidly obese and has opted to wear a skimpy swim costume and be photographed in it - the next page will be poking fun at Tom Cruise for having a bit of a gut.

Without saying enough to dox myself...I have previously worked with Julie Cooke in the Police - and I very much doubt you've summed up her thought process accurately. She's been at Cheshire Police for no time at all, and is quite reasonable, sensible and fair. One of the few "big bosses" I've met who I had confidence in. She will have played no part in this Clusterfuck- but now she works for Cheshire Police she's got to help unfuck it all.

A scrawl in the signature box isn't proof either....and we've got better things to do than pick some random person and try and frame them for a minor traffic violation - not to mention the 100% guarantee of being sacked and facing criminal charges if we intentionally falsify a ticket - and a real possibility of jail. So yeah, our word is proof.

In the UK it's kind of irrelevant if you sign. We just write REFUSED in the box. The fact we make a note that we issued you the ticket is sufficient proof you were given the ticket.

Heartbreaking to read some of those. If you're going to send someone off to fight and kill - and pay them a pittance of a wage - you damn well should look after them when they get back.

The idea that men can't be victims seems to stem from a rather simplistic view that sexual / physical assaults involve Big Strong Person (man) attacking Poor Weak Person (woman). You see it in movies/TV - the cliched moment the dweeb jumps off the bar stool, runs at his nemesis and punches him to the chest in a flurry of punches and the other guy (whose huge) just takes the punches, looks at the dweeb who stops and gulps nervously and then punches the dweeb, knocking him down in one - crowd then…

The problem is there's a portion of people here who are just crazy and any outsiders popping in will remember those voices (and the fact those voices weren't challenged). I had some guy the other day seeming to argue that all/most women were raving feminists - which is just utter nonsense.

Then explain what you mean. How many women do you think harbour these views? I've said most women are normal and hold normal views - you seem to be arguing against this -so clarify your position. Or alternately run away from the conversation.
/r/MensRights25/05/19 05:51 AM
1

Ok so in your world all/most women are raging feminazis and people like me who've not had this experience just haven't had an in-depth enough conversation and therefore don't know their 'real beliefs....Sorry but you sound a bit nuts.....I didn't miss the part where you said you talked to real women, I just don't actually believe you based on everything else you said. Unless by "talked to real women" you mean a very, very small social circle of perhaps a few dozen. Perhaps it's an American thing…
/r/MensRights24/05/19 10:46 PM

You and I must move in very different circles as I find most women to be fairly normal and unconcerned about modern feminism. Most women I meet believe there is a gender pay gap - namely that women are paid less for the same work - but revise that view once the complexities and variables are explained (which is fairly reasonable). Twitter/Reddit etc is always going to be a hotbed of nutters - but normal women working in normal jobs tend to be....well, normal.
/r/MensRights24/05/19 10:29 PM

So what is your position? That all or most women are raging feminists? Most women I've met don't have a clue about the duluth model.

Plenty of women who are 'normal' and rational. Not all women are raging feminists who want to strip away your rights. Just go on a few dates, have some conversations - get to know them. If it isn't working out tell them and move on. You bet wrong I'm afraid. It depends on the situation. I mean, firstly- most people will do ANYTHING to avoid a fight. Like 80-90% of people will bark but they won't bite unless they feel they have no option. That leaves 10 or 20% who may fancy a scrap. From experience, most people don't get identified of CCTV alone. The woman who initially assaulted him, if she knows the person filming may get identified - but 8 random's jumping on you for fighting back, there's a good chance they won't be ID'd. It does feel like this is the case. There's a double standard in that women can voice concern and are expected to be listened to, believed, taken seriously - and adaption to their concerns must then occur. Men voice concerns and not only is there no change, but your skin colour and gender is usually highlighted as though this in itself is an adequate rebuttal of any thoughts / opinions / concerns you have.

What frustrates me is that people like 'Karen' here seem to assume that their pay is lower because they're female. I wonder if Karen actually believes this - or if she just recognises that actually, in the current climate, it's quite profitable for her to scream about equal pay for women etc and there's a good chance nobody will shut her down for fear of being labelled sexist. Pepper spray relies on you to hit them in the eyes. Holding your arm up is an effective defence to it as an example. The spray is easily diverted by the wind making it hard to hit, and it's easy to utilise makeshift defences such as a bin-lid or even sunglasses to negate it. Individuals who are extremely determined, suffering a mental episode or under the influence of drugs will also often keep going despite having been sprayed. This is the one thing that can combat school shootings, today, right now. I hate to say it, but the kids have to stand up against it. I think it's a little unfair to expect children aged 5-18 to do anything other than run away really fast when someone storms into their school in the middle of their history lesson and opens fire. There are solutions, but expecting Mary, aged 7 and Nigel aged 15 to get the shooter in a headlock probably isn't one of them.

It is a choice they make, and a choice they should live with. I agree - and I'm not saying they're forced to - but that choice is usually made by both parties in the relationship. it's not unlikely that the police is also biased and that men are seen as a "bigger threat" than female suspects because of stereotypes about how men are the violent gender. Police Officer here. I don't believe in jumping to conclusions based on scant information (shocking I know). As someone who works in the Criminal Justice System in the UK, there are a lot of variables that go into sentencing and into custodial sentences in particular - such as the defendant's history and pre-sentence reports from probation service about whether or not probation feel they can work with the defendant outside of a custodial environment to reduce offending. But yeah - you go grab your pitchfork.

Yes, it is not uncommon for the police to ask to inspect your phone, and then the critical pictures and videos have been deleted, I have heard this warning a few times about dealing with police. Is this anecdotal - or is there a source to back this up? It seems odd that a Police Officer would risk their career for what? To try and ensure some guy either gets arrested or doesn't get believed - for what purpose? Chances are the Officer dealing with you will have literally never met you or your p…

She threatened the officer with a rock. She threatened to kill one of the officers. The officers then made the attempt to get her, whereupon she threw the rock at an officer hitting him in the shoulder. She continued he's to fight once restrained on the floor, kicking out at the officers. She 100% caused this incident - summoning Police assistance and then arming herself with an improvised weapon and threatening those same officers who had arrived to help her.
/r/PussyPassDenied23/03/19 03:34 PM

The Police aren't social workers or mental health workers. They disarmed her, prevented her harming herself or anyone else, they showed patience - a rock that size can cause significant damage if it smacks you right in the face. I think the idea that they didn't deal with this situation very well is a little unfair on the officers to be honest.

/r/PussyPassDenied15/03/19 09:34 PM

I've not really followed this particular matter that much, so I can't really speak to the specifics - but, there does often seem to be a societal double standard when it comes to DV/DA if the male is the victim. We hear things like "Believe the victim" - but it seems we perhaps need to add "Unless they have a penis" for it to be accurate (sadly).

From a quick glance at the trailer on Youtube - this seems to be a documentary looking back at feminism in the 70's and comparing it with now. I think feminists in the 60's and 70's had fairly legitimate complaints - society was massively unequal in comparison to today and women didn't always have the same legal rights - society was hugely sexist and women often weren't taken seriously. This is one of the reasons some of the 'modern' feminists are quite irritating when they try to make out that …

The details in the case are sparse - we aren't told what the alleged victim has claimed and the results of any other witness testimony that may have been gathered. I've investigated lots of matters like this myself. If she came in and said "This guy walked past me, groped me/touched me - the touching was sexual in nature etc..." we'd obviously, and quite rightly investigate it. Slowing CCTV is quite common in any criminal trial. Events happen quickly and the jury need to be able to see things clearly - this often means slowing down footage. A good example from the area I work is CCTV footage, played at full speed showed a group of men in a fight - one guy gets punched multiple times. It later transpires that guy had been stabbed. It's only by slowing the CCTV right down that you could see the telltale silver flash of a knife in one of the attackers hands. This was key …

What I find concerning is looking at that second article (Jan 10th) - it's painted very much as: This woman was potentially in this horrible, abusive, violent relationship - and she's just snapped . Now, I think in situations like that if it's proven that someone is in a relationship where they are being controlled, attacked - a really nasty situation - it should certainly be a mitigating factor when it comes to sentencing - but not a straight defence (i.e. enough to find you Not Guilty). Obviously it's a different country so I'm aware the rules and systems vary - but in Britain, in a civil court the required standard of evidence to prove a case is lower than in the criminal courts. In the criminal courts (which you would have been facing on a rape allegation) you need to prove the defendant (i.e. you) is guilty beyond reasonable doubt. Which is quite a high bar to hit. In contrast in the civil courts you need only show that the defend (i.e. her if you sued) is guilty on the bala…

I'd agree that it could be considered systemic in that disclosure failures are happening under the current system partly due to the setup of the system. Yes - correct. Police & Criminal Evidence Act 1984 Code G Paragraph 2.9 Section E Sub-section i) The above allows for an officer to arrest you where it is thought unlikely that you would attend a Police station voluntarily to be interviewed. Again it doesn't work like this. When a smart phone is downloaded most forces utilise a specialist department to download the phone - the officer simply requests what they want from the phone - i.e. photo's, messages, appdata - etc. In most cases it won't be relevant for example to request Wi-Fi settings or Wi-Fi history - so it isn't requested. This means that the officer doesn't get back *all* of the data on the phone - even the reduced amount that is returned is still vast, so you can imagine…

So a failure to disclose is equivalent to making a conscious effort to hide it? In order for the officers to have 'hidden it' there needs to be: i) Knowledge of the existence of the item they have 'hidden' - you cannot hide something if you don't even know it exists. ii) An intention to hide it. This should be fairly obvious. You can't 'accidentally' hide something. As someone who has had to download smart phones and sift through the evidence I can tell you that the amount of data that can come …
