Can't emphasize getting your finances in order. Take your time. Your in a better spot than most guys who get blind sided. You will be fine. Might take awhile, but you will come out if this.

I wouldn't. She's his problem now. It's over, move on. Let him figure it out himself. Why waste the time?

Don't be hard on yourself. Read some stories on here. You'll see guys in their 50's getting a divorce having to start over. Your still young! Learn from your mistakes and move forward. Lots of life left for you man. You'll be alright.

I hear you. I think most women don't respect a man if he's nice. I've got to watch myself going forward. Not give too much because there's a good chance it will go unappreciated. That, or I'll get nothing in return but a 'its not you, its me' Stay true to your values. You can hold your head up high. I got respect for you man. Stay strong.

One thing I was proud of was not returning to drinking. No matter how hard or difficult it got. I'm proud of myself for that.

I wouldn't. I had the opportunity to do such a thing. But I don't want to crush an entire family. Kids and extended family are involved. Nevermind finances. I just decided to mind my business.

This is going to get worse before it gets better. She is not the person you married. She will be out for blood and a pound of flesh. She's already been panning for this for months maybe yrs. GET A GOOD LAWYER. So important you find a litigator not a mediator. If she's pissed, wait until you here from her lawyer. You'll be saying, who is this person? You'll be fine man. To put it bluntly... Fuck her. Don't want me? Good riddance. Gonna be some painful times. Use reddit as much as you need it. We'…

Well said man. Its just over. I get my house back the beginning of July. Still a'bit away, but its something to look forward to. I'll be house poor, but free. I don't need much in life at 51 yrs old. I do a'quick journal entry every morning. Write down how I'm feeling. Go over some gratitude affirmations. Any time I feel bad, I'm on here and read other stories. Some horrible situations and success stories. I look younger than my age and in good shape from the gym. I'll have no problem finding so…

We had separate attorneys. It just seemed like he was working for her with every answer he gave us. Didn't want to fight for my rights or take hard stances when he should have.
/r/Divorce_Men05/02/26 12:30 AM

God dam this sounds like what happened to me. I felt like I was the attorney. Always chasing to get a response. Having to go over everything he does. Just stuck with him and now its done. Could have got more. All he cared about was settling.

Here's the short of it: Wife said she didn't love me anymore. Stayed together for a year for kids. She meets someone online. Lies about it, flies to see him. Calls cops and files fake Domestic violence claim to get me out of the house. I move in with my Dad. Haven't seen the kids in 3-4 months. Have to complete bullshit therapy with kids because of her. Wow.......Unreal. It will take a long time for me to have some peace with my ex. I will always have a deep hatred for her for what she did to me and our kids. Can you stop them from leaving the country? Or would that make you the bad parent? My ex's boyfriend is in Florida. There's no way I'm letting my kids go. But, I'll be the bad parent because I'm not letting them go. And my kids are already prepped on how nice it is down there. How did we marry such evil people? What did we do to deserve th…

Holy shit man.......What a nightmare. 60K that could have gone to the kids....My God, the damage done both mentally and financially....You'll be the winner in the end. It's gonna be a long road for me......I just hope she cools down and sees the mess she's made. Maybe her conscience might get to her, I don't know....at least I'm hoping.......I want this over with and move on with my life......I just feel like dying. Drop dead of a heart attack and end it.

Different laws up here in Toronto. I can't go anywhere near the house or her. I'm worried for my eldest. She's 14. I have a feeling she's poisoned her. I'm going to call them tomorrow for the first time in about a week. If the ex doesn't let me speak with them, I'll make a note of it and talk to the lawyer. She can't do that. I just hope your daughter will see how her Mother acted toward you. If you take the high road, and don't bad mouth her, she'll notice that. That's my plan. Setting myself up…

Did the condition say no contact with ex-wife or kids? On mine it just said ex-wife. Spoke with a lawyer he said I can call the kids anytime. How did the kids respond to to you after 57 days? We're they happy to see you? Did the ex brain wash them and talk bad about you? How old are your kids? I'm worried how they are gonna treat me. My ex is the same POS.
/r/Divorce_Men04/07/24 04:38 PM

Why did it take 57 days until you saw your kids?

You were the primary caregiver? She worked while you stayed home? I would live to talk to these women who do this to men. I'd ask them, What if your Mother did this to your Fathet? One day in the future my friend, we will tell our kids the truth. And hopefully, they will hear the truth. and look at their Mother in a different way. And look at US in a different way.

Same here. Just be lucky your ex didn't have you arrested for a false domestic assault. She hurt herself after I left. Spent the nite in jail. I just wanna see my kids. Call them on the phone at the very least. Screw everything else. She found someone else, she wanted out. Now I'm suffering. What did I do to deserve this over our 16 yrs together?? Sorry for the rant......I feel for ya man.

I hear ya on the opening up about weaknesses. Women say they want an honest, vulnerable man, but they don't. Her new man, he'll see what's coming once the honeymoons over. It's baby steps for me. Time will heal me. Just gotta get her outta my life. When she gets back from her boyfriends in Florida, she's probably gonna want to speed things up. I refuse to leave the house. But, I need to move on. The sooner the better.

Surreal parallel universe is right. I don't feel like myself. Nothing excites me. Things I enjoyed before seem meaningless.....Day to day is all we can do. I wasn't expecting this at my age. What the hell did I do so bad to deserve this? Too nice? Too easy going?

She's flying down to spend the week with her boyfriend in Florida on Friday. I'll be at home taking care of the kids. She's out now running 'errands'. Buying shit for her trip. Talking to him on bluetooth probably while she does it. I just wish she would stay found there and never come back. Only reason she doesn't is because of kids....I have no idea when this will end. Im off on short term disability. Probably won't have a job when I get back....So many unknowns...

My plan is yo just stay. She will want to get out. She has a boyfriend She met on Fortnite. He's in Florida we are in Totonto. She's going down for a second time this Friday for a week. (Leaving me with the kids) They are in love. After this 'honeymoon' when she comes back She will accelerate the process. That's my guess. It's fucked up.....

That's what I was worried about. Abandoning the kids could be used as well.
/r/Divorce_Men11/06/24 08:43 PM

Your a braver man than I. I have kids so I gotta watch what I say and do. Were amicable. When we talk money we do it when the kids aren't home. That can get testy.... Good thing for me is her boyfriend lives in Florida. She's leaving Friday for a week at his place. A little honeymoon. Just me and the kids. Their in love. Don't know how it's gonna work. My kids are not moving to Florida from Toronto. He's gonna relocate here?!? 8 months of winter....Curious to see whats gonna happen going forward

Tell me your story man.....If it's okay
/r/Divorce_Men11/06/24 03:52 PM

Being petty won't help. Just stress the both of us out. And there's kids watching. She's going to Florida at the end of the week to be with her boyfriend she met on Fortnite. When she comes back after the honeymoon, I have a feeling she'll move fanteria to get the hell out. Weird situation. Guys 2000 miles away - we are in Toronto. He moving here? She can't go there. Kids aren't moving to Florida that's for sure.....Messed up man. Just took 2mg of Ativan. Hitting me know. Feel better.
/r/Divorce_Men11/06/24 03:50 PM

Her family lives too far away. Would mean ripping the kids away from their school. I blocked her on our credit card so she can't put her lawyer fees on it. Abuse allegations I have no control over. She's hit me in the past. If she calls the police with allegations, nothing I can do. She'll just be screwing up the kids. And me paying money for a lawyer who will get the case thrown out. I'm just waiting in her. I'm keeping the house. I would like to do it with as little lawyers as possible.
/r/Divorce_Men11/06/24 03:43 PM

Thanks man. Talking to her boyfriend through text is tough. But I'm holding firm. She wants me to move out to my parents. Not happening. She wanted this, She can leave. We are polite to eachother. Have to be for the kids sake. She won't leave the bedroom. I know that. Just waiting for short term disability to come through. Money getting tight, adding to the stress. Should know by end of week. I agree, there's two kids involved. If I buy her out, she still won't qualify for a mortgage. Rent is too expensive for a shithole building. She's stuck. I'm nice, but firm. It's just tough to move on when she's still here.
/r/Divorce_Men11/06/24 10:36 AM
1

I'm just waiting for her to come to me. I have to buybher out of the house. But what she gets is not enough to get anything good. She's stuck and so am I. I prefer not to go through lawyers. She can't afford one for very long. She only has a few thousand for a lawyer. That won't last long....
