Although the Mikoyan Mig-29 isn't quite modern, the scale models certainly are.

I definitely think listening to a Podcast simulations the socialization a little too much. Intellectual debates do the same thing - you get the experience of reasoning through complex and nuanced topics, without retaining any of the information that was present. Social podcasts give you the feeling of being with people without developing your ability to generate good conversation or banter on the fly.

So why the downvotes? Is this not sub appropriate or what's the issue?

I meditated on this a little bit, and I realized that apologies between adults are typically only sincere when offered completely voluntarily. When an apology is demanded, it's a power play. I've heard many times, even from women, that apologies don't fix broken windows, that you can't undo the hurt you've caused. When an adult makes a child apologize, its usually to bring the child back into the fold of authority - they have been disobedient, and need to capitulate to that authority. When a chi…

Because a relationship won't last if it's predicated on the availability of a materialistic exchange. As soon as any of the utilitarian reasons for the relationship disappears, it disappears.

I think you should not be with someone if you're settling to avoid existential loneliness, or if you see them as an emotional crutch, or a financial safety net, or a good partner to help you look after a kid. You shouldn't be with someone for utilitarian reasons only - there should be a damn good reason that makes you choose that person over everyone else.

This reminds me of an experience I had a couple years back at my Dad's place. He lived in a fairly tropical region with an old house and so we left the window open for breeze but didn't have a fly screen, so a myriad of insects were allowed to fly in. I was lying on my bed with my phone passing the time with the lights out, and of course, I had a whole university course's worth of entymology specimens on my brightly lit screen. First they were a nuisance but then I got used to them. Then, a fire…

There was actually a mouse experiment that gave those living in it all the food, space and nesting material they could muster, and towards the end of the experiment there were a large body of males dubbed 'the beautiful ones', who had no interest in fighting or mating, and kept pristine coats.

Sounds a lot like Mark Manson's 'Polarization' chapter on women. All the work that men do is to turn those Maybe's into yeses.

Not an R-Piller, but think of it this way: The most effective way for a culture or ideology to propagate itself is through family inheritance. Deviation from that culture risks social ostracization, which is emotionally and logistically dis-empowering, especially if the family unit is the cornerstone to an individual's stability. If a culture has subjugation of women as part of it's cultural norms, birth rates are higher, and more people are born into a culture that continues to devalue the righ…

Op has been told no by people who don't want him. To keep himself on a level playing field, he should also say no to people he doesn't want. Have the self respect not to settle for less than what makes you happy.

I agree with and completely accept that gender dysphoria exists, but only within the realms of the gender binary. I think that the 'social construct' environment has allowed additional genders outside the binary to be created. Is there anyone here who can explain how being a demigender is something you just "are", and if it's a social construct, why can't it just as easily be ignored as it is created?

Feigned submission is just as much of a power play in a relationship though. It shows you don't take their power seriously and could undermine it whenever you feel like it. As captain planet eloquently put it, "The power is yours!"

I might be in. I'm not just starting out - I plunged into it in may when I went travelling, staying in Hostels, you meet a LOT of people. I work from home so whenever I go out I try and have conversations with strangers, but I still don't feel comfortable enough to direct the conversation yet. I just kinda ask questions, and I want to work on my wit and social intelligence. Dunno if that works for your goals.

You are not good enough for her to reach out to. You may call yourself an artist but there is nothing behind your words. There is nothing behind you that would make her think constantly about you. Hmmm. I dunno. I can learn to be witty and funnier and more knowledgeable. Those are skills I can gain. I can groom, lose weight, build muscle and learn an impressive skill. But I can't get taller or grow a beard or get a bigger dick. Iynno, give me something I can work with.

It kind of reminds me of the fat acceptance movement. Both groups have a tendency to assign blame for their faults on something other than themselves, that can't be quantified - like society, for example. They both create a new ideology and identify themselves as such - "Plus size," "Nice guys". They then lament that society doesn't view what they believe they are as valuable, i.e, "girls like assholes instead of nice guys like me," or "the media has created an image of beauty that's not inclusi…
