For Japan specifically, it's reasonable to say that male suicide rates have been steadily decreasing, and as long as it continues decreasing it's not really a cause for alarm. It's not like we can just say "let's end suicide!" And boom it's fixed. During the god awful year that was 2020, I would argue that the suicide rate staying stagnant is good news.
