My therapist told me once that she had over a decade of documented emotional abuse against me. Shocked the hell out of me.

Leaving the house is a MUCH better option than having her push you into any reactive response. She can then call the police and you end up in jail (regardless of any evidence). After having experienced that, my escape plan is always to a hotel. I have a “go bag” ready in my closet. I’ve had to do this once already.

Please consider and act, my friend. I am 40 years into this mess. It does NOT get better.

I’ve been in weekly therapy for a decade. It’s shifted its purpose over time, but has increasingly focused on my mental health in the midst of my marriage. Sometimes, I felt like I was paying someone to just talk to me without attacking. We tried couples counseling twice. The first time she apparently interviewed therapists until she found someone she liked and then walked me in like she’d never met them. That lasted 2 sessions for her (because he was focusing on her) . I went for a third sessio…

Not wrong. I’m not sure why she would care if she was “done”.

Definitely take the win.

The reality is that your attorney probably knows the judge quite well. They only pretend that it’s a new meeting in the courtroom. You are, in fact, the only newcomer. Listen to your attorney. It’s possible that she’s already discussed the entire situation with the judge over lunch.

FB does put those tabs out without intervention. It’s likely that her phone is listening in on the drama and it’s offering an exit.

Check to see the legality of recording video of you without permission. Then visit the local police.

I meant what I said. The whole narrative is that they are “betrayed” and you are the “betrayer”. Evidently, the years of emotional abuse leading up to that is perfectly fine.

Don’t you just love that? Her bad behavior is waved away while you are the “betrayer”.

Sorry to say, but it’s better now than 40 years from now.

My wife claims that I’ve “thrown her around”. I’m not sure we were in the same room if that happened.

The first counselor we had was male. Unknown to me, my wife interviewed him in advance and set the stage. However, in session he focused in on her. She lasted 2 sessions before she declared him to be a “quack” and refused to go back. I went by myself and the counselor told me that he hadn’t seen her enough to make a diagnosis. However, he told me to buy “Quit Walking on Eggshells”. The second counselor was female. I picked her out of the psychology today referral website. I picked her because it…

I’m sorry. Reminders are something we don’t need.

If you don’t do something now, you will eventually be looking back at 40 years of your life being wasted.

I’ve had a therapist for more than 10 years. We speak weekly. I also have a psychiatrist (because going to my PCP for psychiatric meds was a bad idea). I speak with her monthly. I still have problems with anxiety and depression, but I’m sure it is better than it would be without them.

I’m with you. In fact, I looked to make sure I was not the one posting. My gut says “get out”, but my head goes in circles. I know I should talk to an attorney. I did that once & it wasn’t tremendously helpful. My therapist thinks I should get out - even if it’s just to the guest room. But here I am.

My wife was stunning when we met and so much hotter than my former girlfriend. She was still stunning at our wedding. Since then, there have been 3 kids and a whole bunch of bad eating, leaving her 40-ish pounds over those days. She constantly says “I need to lose weight” and then she grabs a couple cupcakes to “take with her medicine”. She snacks on chocolate throughout the day. Her weight fluctuates and can’t / won’t make the connection.

Depending on the state, that can be a felony. My wife was recording me inside of my vehicle. I did my therapy sessions via telehealth from there. She recorded over a year, so 50+ events at 2 years of prison each. She was pretty quick to destroy the evidence once that fact hit her.

Disclaimer: I have zero experience. I just don’t want you to think no one is listening. That said…. It wouldn’t hurt to get a second opinion. It might change nothing. But at least you’d hear a couple voices on the matter.

I’m not sure what I feel anymore. It’s really hard to love someone that isn’t loving you back. I’m somewhere between loving and tolerating these days.

Take the time to mourn the loss of one relationship before diving into another. A year may seem like a long time, but you will appreciate it later.

It’s been a while since I’ve done this. I feel like I’m stepping into a past life. I traveled for probably 15 years or so and then abruptly stopped during Covid. Never started again because the company figured out that Zoom was cheaper than hotels and airplanes. But enormous clients demand in-person treatment, I guess.
