That story is infuriating. I can relate to your brother's story for sure. I appreciate the support though man. Cheers to you.

I didn't expect it. But I'm glad it's working out. Funny how it works out.

That is absolutely relevant. Being supportive of each other is one of the things that makes this sub great. I really appreciate it.

Definitely! My knowledge of the local market is what got me the job and makes me good at it. Also where I am now is priced better and is better, so it's an easy sale. I also have 2 of their employees (the only two who are worth anything) ready to come work for me. So it'll be fun.

Not really. They found someone to fill it and she already has been complaining about the manager. Or so I hear.

Looking back, it sure felt like it.

Funny. I had an interview this morning with their direct competitor and it went really well. :)

This is a good idea.

I absolutely agree. I wouldn't at this point. No help from me at all.

There was a lot of this. A lot of "let's work on xyz..." then she'd disappear while I did 100%of the work. Later I'd hear her on the phone taking 50% credit.

Sorry to hear that OP, better to find a job you love anyway. This right here is mostly why I posted. I love this sub's support. I always feel better when I reddit.

You nailed it. I've been applying around for a while. I actually had an interview today with my old co's most direct competitor, it went well.

That sounds super shitty man.

I appreciate the advice and the sentiment. I do feel free. I got the termination letter and smiled, gathered my things and went home. It was a good day.

It's not doing horribly, but it has been in decline for a couple years. We will see.

I guarantee it will come up and I won't have to bring it up. The story isn't over. It will all implode soon. I'm not sure I'd go back if I was offered the job, the whole biz is kind of a clusterfuck.

No problemo.

It would not have been too hard, there are plenty of bad behaviors to choose from, lying on time sheets, hitting on married customers (and single ones), giving away stuff to friends, laziness, keeping inaccurate records, lying on balance sheets, and just the poor job performance. I was constantly asked for help on basic tasks (mostly computer stuff). But all of that will become glaringly obvious over the next few weeks.

This is exactly my thought. Paid vacation and those problems are someone else's. Thanks for reaffirming the positive.

I know the owner very well and I would bet that you're right that she doesn't know. She has another business that makes her a lot of money and isn't super involved. I am good friends with her husband and am actually going over there for a game night in a few days. I think an immediate email about it would look reactionary and maybe even resentful. If I needed the job or cared a lot about it, I may chase revenge. But I didn't care about it and have been planning to leave for a while, so fighting …

I agree with 100% of what you wrote. Thank you for the feedback. I am not really upset or surprised, it is just something that happened and is a decent cautionary tale for others. Cheers man.

Lesson learned. Also, I agree that I could probably put that together, but you're right that it fails the cost/benefit analysis. It wasn't a dream job or anything.

It's inevitable. Most of the promos and events that succeeded were mine, most of the sales, all of the repairs (equipment was breaking all the time and I was good at fixing it). It won't be long.

"She's got kids and is a single mother, she needs this job." This was said some time before this went down, when she was in trouble for always showing up late.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
