Therapy isn't useless for me because I am a guy. It is useless for me because I exhausted the little that it can do. For someone in my case, let's just say tl;dr depressed, all it can do is gaslight me into thinking I am wrong about everything I think or feel, and that their way is right, and I need to replace all of my thinking with their thinking. I am being a bit hyperbolic, but I am thoroughly disenchanted with therapy. It is a piss poor substitute for what community, mentors, elders, good f…

Ok, I'm not advocating for circumcision, and honestly I'm bored. But "SWIM" isn't circumcised and have a sex drive as high or higher than virtually everyone they've ever met. Where does this whole "circumcision destroys the sexual instinct" come from? Does the procedure impact some more than others?

I think most are real, but wouldn't be surprised if there are some bad actors in there too. Either way, it's sad and disturbing. I mean... if Kamala had won, I would be incredibly depressed right now. I'm already a depressed individual so I'd rather not think about just how much worse I might be. This election is probably the best thing I can remember happening for me in five years, and honestly Trump isn't even the savior he touts himself as—he gives me a slight false prophet vibe, metaphorical…

Playing devil's advocate here, I basically agree with the OP post, but remember that a considerable number of women voted for Donald Trump. It was less than 50%, granted, and many of them may be married and/or much older than what young men might typically be looking for. But just wanted to add this bit of perspective. If there's something I'm missing though, please let me know. (also, the increase in vitriol could mean that women you already would've have had a problem with before could potenti…

100% agree. I think reddit is generally best for positive entertainment (heaven forbid), or at least to mutually commiserate with people who share your problem, even if they can't offer you a solution. But asking hundreds of internet strangers about a personal problem, unless you're very careful and very specific and you ask the right sub, you're otherwise asking for trouble. Even well-intentioned people are just gonna lead you astray, give advice that only worked for them because of circumstanc…

Right? At least, that's how society is supposed to work. I think society is too big now. It's this amorphous mass of dissolved local communities. I understand that not everybody is in a position to give. There are many, many people (including women) in our situation. They don't have a job, or have a shit job that makes them question their willingness to go on. They don't have a significant other, maybe never had one, despite taking decent care of themselves and making a daily effort to be their …

Thanks, you summed up my point perfectly. I'm not sure where that line of reasoning stops anyway. Mentally abusive parents? Just change your mind about them. Physically abusive relationship? Just change your mind. Feel a deep longing and scientifically human need for belonging, for true authentic connection? Nah man, just change your mind about that. It's utterly ridiculous to me. I'm preaching to the choir here, but all I'm saying is that men often seek real solutions. What men generally seem t…

I tried therapy for ten fucking years. It cannot provide: a stable job that doesn't make one suicidal; return one to childhood or even teenage ignorance when the world still seemed like an OK place with a safety net (if you were lucky to have *that* I guess); life-affirming meaning; genuine fellowship (you're paying for someone to listen to you and then do nothing). All it really provides is word trickery, "cognitive reframing." It inherently and constantly gaslights that there's nothing wrong w…

I don't agree with some of the solutions typically heard in the Red Pill community. I'm too much of a hopeless romantic for that. But what I do appreciate is that it's often been a space where other men can usually understand what you're going through. And that's hard to come by nowadays.

26 here. Might not be worth much but you're not alone. I had to take steps to tailor my online experience for my own preferences and sanity. This meant removing most social media apps (only reddit and YouTube now). But you still also have to regularly, consistently filter the content. Be Draconian with the hide, mute, block, don't recommend, etc features. There's plenty of content out there. You won't miss it. Don't get me wrong, that doesn't mean you magically forget misandry exists. It doesn't…

I'm TRYING to find a decent job. My life is fucked up now. I went to school and got a degree in secondary education. Well, turns out that a career in education wasn't what I thought it would be like. I was worse than miserable; I was put in a mental wing at a hospital for expressing my emotions and thoughts about my own life to my therapist. My trust was betrayed and I was at my lowest point in my entire life. I managed to power through and finish my internship and earn my degree even with a uni…

I've been enjoying reddit slightly more (not by much tho) after going out of my way to just mute/block subs like this. First of all, is the husband expecting her to do all of these things, and assumes no responsibility of them himself? If so, does the husband do an equivalent amount of work beyond the home? What conversation has been had about boundaries? How have the chores been delegated? If we haven't even so much as had a fucking conversation and come to a consensus about chores, by merely having a young-adult level discussion, then wtf are we even talking about here? That's a way bigger communication issue …

Thanks for correcting me bro. Wasn't trying to pick a fight or anything. I was just confused on how one might disagree* that women can be good sometimes (not better than men tho, just good / same as average man, no gamma bias) at being empathetic for the sake of their children, but it can often come at the expense of being empathetic to anybody else. I have seen those studies. I think they were well done. That being said, I don't want to put words into your mouth, but what are you implying then? Women have no empathy? Or completely fail at empathy in literally every single situation conceivable, and also can never manage to learn it? I mean, you've got to admit that that would be a little absurd... right? I mean, from a logical standpoint that would just strike me as being statistically improbable. Very, very improbable that every woman ever…

Man, I went through a similar issue with my own internship. Luckily the director of my program (a woman) had my back. But my supervisor was a total fucking cunt. She had no right to be in a position that is responsible for supporting people's first steps into a career and completely lacked empathy. Without the director, I would've been so screwed.

It's hard to say. I want to be careful of what I say. This is only my personal experience from 10 years of therapy. It was hard to find good therapists. It was hard to overlook the fact that I'm paying someone to "care." Some do, some don't. Therapy can't give you family, friends, a girlfriend who cares. I decided that if I were to keep doing therapy, what I needed *more* of was practical solutions. But therapy couldn't offer me all that many practical solutions, at least not for my problems. I …

Hey, sorry, meant to reply earlier and forgot. I saw many different therapists over that span, a few different schools of thought. I tried to stick with a therapist long enough to make a fair assessment as to whether it was worth continuing. Some were better than others. A couple I really liked. The first guy I saw was Brett; I was in high school at the time, suffering from receiving less romantic interest than my peers, unrequited attraction, typical. He worked with men in prisons. This comment is hilariously accurate. It annoys me to no end that MA and other stoics go uncriticized. There's some good stuff in stoicism, of course. But it really seemed like they were afraid to live, and didn't recognize negative emotion as being part of living a full life. Rather than embrace it head on, and care more for other people regardless of the potential negatives, they shied away. EDIT: In my personal experience, the degree to which I experience positive emotion is closely correlate…

I tried therapy for 10 years, and all it did was make me ultimately feel more confused while either nothing changed or things got worse. Medications did not help or just made things worse. Well, I actually did get some useful tips for managing anxiety. But that's it. (And I could've just as easily gotten those "tips" online. There are plenty of false accusations that never make it to the legal stage to begin with, but it's convenient for feminists to only look at the legal numbers (and in their defense, there aren't any reliable numbers I am aware of that include non-legal false accusations). A great deal of psychological study has been done on reputation destruction. Plenty of dudes lose friends, even family, and jobs from this kind of behavior. Those can all be caused by false accusations and there's not really an…

Delusional, maybe. I've found that it's very difficult for women to understand a man's mindset and vice versa. But growing up and just going through the public education system as a guy, I would see this preferential treatment all the time among the boys. You wouldve had to be blind, an idiot, or both to not see it.

I think there are men who commit suicide because of a woman, but not because of "women." I know a guy who worked for one of the big three. Divorce ruined him. Took his kids from him. Took a lot more financially. Reputation savage. I can't say for sure he committed suicide because of her. But he sure as hell killed himself, unfortunately.

I think the remainder of my problems are therapy resistant. It felt like a combination of gaslighting and asking me to lie or bullshit myself. It won't change my dissatisfaction with my dating or sex life, it won't win me the lottery or get me a decent job, it won't fix my social life, it won't fix my family situation. Yeah, this is just wild to me. Age in and of itself, except perhaps if someone has some serious parental issues / trauma, isn't an abuse of power (assuming both people are of legal consensual age, I need to add). People in their mid twenties may not know as much as someone in their mid fourties, but they aren't rarded.

It's my fault for emphasizing that one moment in my post, but that isn't the only reason I'm leaving the profession. Unfortunately even making a positive impact for the kids didn't justify being so stressed that I was physically and mentally ill for almost the entirety of the experience. No other job I've done in the past was anywhere near that bad. The stress wasn't specific to the school unfortunately, but the job itself. 20k in debt is a hard way to learn that, but that's how the work world i…

It's not for everybody. I wouldn't dissuade anyone from trying it, but I also just can't recommend it for a lot of reasons. Not sure if this will make sense, but I think it might be similar to law... in the sense that it's the kind of career where you have to be okay with it also basically being a lifestyle. I think it just takes a certain kind of person for being a public school teacher is all, and I'm not quite that kind of person. It's a very sacrificial and thankless job, you see behind the …

Thanks a lot for sharing man, that really sucks. It might not be much but I think you're right, all we can do is try to distract ourselves in ways that aren't too unhealthy (listening to music or stuff like that is definitely better than drinking and smoking a lot). Yeah, that was just the straw that broke the camel's back I think. I didn't like the work-life balance, especially when considering the pay or even prospects of pay. The only good part is the kids but there's too much bullshit that gets in the way of that, and I felt like a soulless husk outside of work because work controlled my entire fucking life, and left me numb and drained.

I agree with you, I don't expect that higher figure like 70k or whatever right out of the gate (not with my meagre skills and experience anyway, it's just not realistic since I didn't go for astrophysics or get a master's in programming). So I did have a dream for a while of working in Japan as an English teacher. But I did research first because I didn't want it to just be a decision based on "durrr Japan sounds cool" (I'm pretty into anime). With as much as I'm already struggling in life, I am very hesitant to do something that extreme. Where do I go to hang out with other guys? Every guy my age (I am in my mid twenties) is working. You'd think there was a plague that killed anyone between the ages of 20 and 30. After graduating either high school or college, society has a process to isolate everyone. Perhaps this impacts men more, because men are more willing to move farther for school, to sacrifice more, toward the goal of their career or what have you. Man, I tried and tried therapy, with very little good results. After a decade it just made me more confused. And when you go to openly discuss this, usually what you hear is that you just need to find the right therapist. Okay... I've been to ten therapists in as many years. Not all were equally bad, but none were particularly helpful. Medication doesn't grant me a job without a dead-end, early retirement, purpose, meaning, the love of my life or prevent divorce. Lots of places. Toxic feminism as another top comment already explained; weak men raising future men and women; the rise of social media and certain narratives pushed in mainstream news; social conditioning / programming in the public education system; no-fault divorce, gynocentric divorce courts, and other factors that lead to fatherless homes (a weak man in the home would probably still be better than none at all).

I think men are more prone to having "friends" because of circumstances, while women are prone to making "friends" for transactional reasons. Neither of these are the same as having true friends. I don't have any science to back this up. It's just a personal observation I think about sometimes. I'm bringing it up because I think women are very good at shallow networking due to their inclination of keeping around many "friends" for social advantage (status, information) and other benefits, which …

And he said playing devil's advocate, so he might not agree with anything he said anyway lol. Most people still think that it's impossible for a woman to commit rape or sexual assault / abuse.

Interesting take, and maybe a bit alternative... but I think there could be merit to it. If I understand you correctly, you're theorizing that she sees men approaching her friends, but men never approach her. So viewing sexual advances on the basis of physical attraction as "disgusting" is a defense mechanism to explain this reality away.
/r/MensRights19/04/24 10:39 AM

I think this is where my confusion came from. I can understand feeling disgusted by a person's sexual advances when the person gives you a reason (idk, kind of an absurd example, but let's say the person is a close family member). But any and all sexual advances on the basis of physical attraction = disgusting, not just strange or unwanted but DISGUSTING, is something significantly different. "deluge of noise" is a great way of putting it. And it sounds like we agree. I don't have the solution either, but I think it is fair to say that the supposedly common sense solutions like talking to a friend, a family member, or a therapist do not always work. I have tried those solutions for years. Sometimes it is possible to find advice in that deluge of noise that is genuinely helpful. The point is, I don't think men need advice. And I don't think they need therapy. If anything, the problem some men have is there are too many cooks in the kitchen. David Goggins and Jordan Peterson and Andrew Tate and Joe Blow and 10,000 other people all giving them advice and telling them what they should do. I think they need *actual* help, and no, I don't mean therapy. They need an actual opportunity, they need an actual coach, they need an actual mentor. But I also appreciate your 5 cents. …

I completely agree. While men can have "problems of thinking" (for lack of a better way to say it), I think a lot of men—myself included—struggle with real shit that is happening to them. These are "doing" or "being" problems as you say. It feels like gaslighting to be told that you just need to "think about it differently." Like fuck off, what is happening to me is *real*, it's not some trick of the mind. The fact that I can't find a job that doesn't make me want to off myself is real. The fact…

I mean no disrespect but I currently don't have any interest in making friends, going out, socializing, I'm sick and tired of approaching people, and my social life (or lack thereof) wasn't meant to be the point of this post anyway

i can definitely relate to that in a way

That sucks, sorry to hear that man. If I went on a trip I would be polite enough to not ruin it, but more than likely I would try to politely decline the invitation to avoid having to do that, if that makes sense. I'm at a point now where I see people trying to help, but I know that it's not the help I need, and I don't want to waste their time. Generally if somebody does something to try and lift my spirits, which does work sometimes, I just hope they're not going way out of their way to do it.…

I went to university and have a teaching degree which I finished 5 months ago, but I'm kind of back to square one. I can't blame the world for all shortcomings but the world certainly doesn't make me motivated to try anymore. Not sure what the point is. I don't feel like competing anymore, I'm kind of over it. Besides what I mentioned, I go to the gym and have started attending church on Sundays but that's about it. But I appreciate your advice nonetheless.

Thanks bro, at the moment I spend most of my time playing video games and watching anime. I've been reading and writing as well. Trying to stick with consuming positive content and staying away from doomscrolling.

Thank you for sharing, I agree with some of the things you said. I've tried therapy, although not A.R.T., and it's just not something I'm interested in any more. If therapy works for you or somebody else, I think that's great. But more than ever I think people need mentors who care without paying for them. And it's not easy being a mentor. I tried to be one in university for just one person, one semester, and it was so difficult. Again, I think it's very difficult to mentor someone who is the sa…

My personal issue with social media isn't with failing to understand I am looking at highlight reels, although I acknowledge some people fail to understand that, especially teens or younger. Assuming the person's content isn't completely staged (which some of it is, sure), my issue is that anybody gets to experience those highlights to any degree at all.

Not sure why you're being downvoted, I think maybe people think you agree with those views when you're just pointing out how those groups are likely to respond. I think eventually feminists won't be fine with it, but they'll also still be in denial about the causes.

Yup, one tends to use physicality to rape, and the other tends to use psychological manipulation to rape. Still rape.

I understand that. It just seems like a useless, invalidating way to dismiss suffering and dismiss a problem. A person can survive without modern medicine, without a job, without a home, without a family, without friends, without hygiene, without knowing how to read or write, and so on. This whole "survival = need" just seems absolutely absurd to me. To me, the topic of this thread refers to a real psychological and emotional need, and life isn't worth living without it. And if the lack of somet…

Women don't seem worth the effort to "try hard." Anyway, I do appreciate you taking time to share what you think could help Tabopo. I actually agree with what you say about "how annoying the whole process is". That's a very nice way of putting it in my opinion. But where our experiences differ is that that "annoyance" has not at all led to a natural decline in the drive. Just added frustration unfortunately.

I guess I am using a looser definition of the word "need." People don't really need to be raised by two parents either, or parents that are loving, attentive, supportive. People can live to be 80+ years old without any of that. People could theoretically even live to be 100 as a slave from birth; people don't need freedoms, even though the vast majority of people would agree that having some freedom is psychologically and emotionally better than having no freedom. But I insist on calling intimac…

Yes, because I hate having a desire that I cannot fulfill through mutual enjoyment with another person who shares that same desire. Masturbation is adding insult to injury. At least hunger and thirst have the decency to kill you after not being met for a relatively short period of time. In regards to sex, people will gaslight you and say it isn't a need, the constant stress and suffering evidently having zero psychological impact on a person.

I gave the video a chance, and I'm glad I did. This is the first time I've ever heard somebody talk about this. Cuts through a lot of the bullshit, and doesn't get bogged down in a pity party (like my rant tbh). Thanks for sharing. I at least feel like I'm not crazy.

I pretty much agree. Although, whenn I get to know a woman better, I usually find things I don't like, or vice versa (when they get to know me better, they find things that they don't like). And I find myself regretting ever bothering in the first place. If there are things you don't like about female nature, or otherwise very common tendencies or traits and behaviors that the strong majority of women exhibit, you're kind of fucked in my experience. Even just in terms of values, I feel I'm diffe…

Yeah, I'm not interested in consciously turning myself gay lol like that guy was saying above. I checked out ArakoTV and I like what he has to say, but I also feel like a lot of those clips are just going to make me more bitter and jaded than I already I am. Like, no matter how hard I try, I already hear that or see that kind of shit on the regular from women at work or especially at uni. That's pretty much where I'm at right now bro. Ignoring all female distraction and worrying about myself. I …
