Linguistics, yo. If it's utilitarian, it'll most likely improve the language in the long run. I'm sure that people got angry when "I am" became "I'm".

Given the evidence at the time, it would be logical to assume that there were no WMDs. It's a question of logic given the evidence. And the evidence at the time pointed towards falsehood.

I don't think you understand what I meant by relevant. The reason this is posted on mens rights is to discuss psychology and how it applies to the cause. The specifics of the test, unless they interfere with the results, are off-topic.

Matt and Trey Parker said that the secret to South Park was proceeding their stories with "Yes, but" and "So then". Never proceed with "Yes, and" because it's boring. I guess the same applies to seduction.

Do you have a different theory? It's impossible to "prove" societal trends. I don't see any data that could suggest another reason. Or how about classism? That might work. Although, there are plenty of poor white people, but not nearly as many in prison.

To be fair, "white trash" men are hated more than middle class white men.

Nobody said that everything is against black people. There are still social reasons why being black is difficult. You've got to realize how many more black people there are in prison than white people. And those numbers are way too skewed to be for anything other than racism.

I think that in school, there should be a ranking system based on skill and nothing else. The top 33%, the middle 33%, and the bottom 33%. There's no reason to have anything else. In a league, discrimination's going to happen simply because it's much more competitive. In school, it can be enforced.

The thing that annoys me the most is that there ARE steps to avoid rape. It's not supposed to be victim-blaming; it's supposed to be a reality check. There will always be rapists. Don't you want to know how to defend yourself?
/r/MensRights10/05/12 04:01 PM
2

And why is this directed at all men? Are all men now to be viewed as potential rapists? According to this effort, the answer is yes. The maneuver is blatantly and unequivocally sexist. While women have a much larger risk of being raped, as may be assumed, 3 percent of college men have also been victims. In fact, 4 percent of current male college students across the nation have answered “yes” to the question: “In your lifetime have you been forced to submit to sexual intercourse against your will…

I think it goes deeper than that. The protagonist has a message to preach that is against the very core of the society's teachings, but the very act of speaking against that common belief will destroy him.

I think the solution is the middle ground. If they agree to the boxing ring, that's better than an unmoderated fight on the playground. On the other hand, if either of them disagrees, there needs to be some kind of discussion between parties. This should have nothing to do with gender.

Average wages for women remain lower than those for their male counterparts, by nearly 20%. I'm annoyed that they didn't explain why, as opposed to reinforcing the wage gap myth.
/r/MensRights27/04/12 08:20 PM

/r/MensRights17/04/12 08:31 PM

First of all, it's not limited to the Titanic. Ships in general have used the "women and children" rule, plus 92% of the second class men died while 14% of the second class women died. If women have a disadvantage in survival, that means that the majority of the men (in second class at least) felt societal pressure to lay down their lives for women.

I don't know what "side of human rights" you're on, but everyone has their own goalposts. What I care about personally is being treated the same way as a woman. It was acceptable to pick and choose who should live because of the way they were born. I don't believe that should be the case.
/r/MensRights17/04/12 07:14 PM
3

In a lot of conversations I have with feminists, the opposing view is that equality is a zero-sum game. I think that many use "rights" as a PC word for supremacy.
/r/MensRights17/04/12 02:54 PM
2

Once again, the correct question is not "how likely women are to survive" and more "Why are women given special survival treatment at all." The people who don't make it to the lifeboats will probably die. The people who do have a much higher chance of survival. Valuing any life more than another is wrong.

Something I realized very recently is that I've turned down a lot of girls because I have crazy high standards. And I'm okay with that. I've only had sex with one woman and have only gotten to bed with a couple others, but I'm fine waiting until there's someone I can find with an emotional connection. My college has the unofficial slogan, "Where the odds are good, but the goods are odd." When there's a girl that's classically attractive here, all the guys are over them. It's rare. I may be a "nice guy", but I'm constantly practicing my approach and I'm getting better at number-closing. The one thing that I don't seem to be getting are IOIs. Right now I'm less on the stage of sleeping with anyone and more just figuring out how to bring those out.

It's 70% female and used to be an all-girls college. There's an even larger percentage of women in the theater program, which I spend most of my time in. And yes, I know. I've made a lot of friends recently through trying to pick people up.
