Look at and closely observe her mother. That's what she'll be in a few years

Being unremarkable herself, she makes her father's potentially interesting story about her. It's pretty common for women to make themselves a center of attention this way.

It's partly because women tend to be the ones buying this kind of useless crap, so the slogans and humor must appeal to them.

Women and society are blind to the "plight" of men. I agree, but I think this is not by choice but by necessity. To maximize the safety and comfort of some, some others have to be expendable, somewhat like the pawns in a chess game. We don't want to acknowledge this, but it has to be. The best we can do to try to make this situation palatable is define it at "noble" and "manly" to sacrifice for others.

I think two questions are 1) Who gets to define the phrase "grow up"? and 2) What is a mgtow definition for that phrase?

Vacations are a minefield also because couples are often stuck together, often exclusively, for long periods of time--in a car, a plane, a hotel room, a restaurant, an activity, an event, a destination, etc. She gets your attention all the time; it's hard to get away from her, to disengage and create any scarcity/dread for her.

I think that was video from a Bernie Sanders rally/speech. Maybe that will help.

One thing I've learned over the years is that, when I'm working the hardest to explain myself, it's usually only myself that I'm trying to convince.

Thanks. So glad to see some RP discussion about something bigger than picking up and/or dealing with women/sex. For me, RP has been about realizing and accepting my own power, the massive breadth of my own choice. This quote I came across while moving from BP to RP was a kick in the seat for me: The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own. No apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on, or blame. The gift is yours … and you alone are responsible for the qu…

Had it been her wanting out, she would have kept quiet about it and moved her stuff (and no doubt some of yours) while you were at work or otherwise away for a day. Just sayin' ... For next time.

U/apexk9 is telling you to not care what those girls think about you. I second that-- but try learn from it so it doesn't keep happening. (You get a lot of great info on rp subs, but not a lot of brotherly hugs.)

Awake or asleep, what thoughts pop into our heads is not within our control. It's what we do with those thoughts that matter.

Old zen story: Two monks walking to another monastery come to a river to cross. Woman there, asking for help getting across. Young monk says, "Sorry, we can't have anything to do with women." Old monk picks up woman, carries her across river, sets her down, moves on. Two miles later, young monk cannot hold his anger any longer and says to the old monk, "We're not supposed to have anything to do with women, and you touched that woman. What the hell?" Old monk says, "I put her down two miles ago. …

There's a lot of that going around. But don't hate them any more than you'd hate your neighbor's dog for barking, drooling, smelling bad, and eating its own shit. If you're not a dog person, just don't get a dog, stay out of the dog parks as much as possible, and reconsider any friendships with dog people.

The power in the situation is yours. She wants to move in with you, probably because she needs, at minimum, your money/resources and your babysitting services. Use her needs to help her improve her attitude and behavior toward you. When she contacts you, tell her that, despite her behavior, you might still consider moving in with her but that in order to do so, she must learn to treat you and talk to you respectfully. (Give her examples if needed, but don't let her suck you into an argument abou…

I recently caught up on the Ghomeshi sex assault case in Canada. One of the alleged victims, who was caught lying, was being interviewed after the trial (source: youtube video on the case). The interviewer asked her about being caught lying during the trial, and she responded, "I told MY truth."

I have a feeling your story (and mine) is quite common for older guys--and potentially for younger guys who ignore these cautionary tales. Now you mention it, I think retirement is scaring me too more than I realized--living with my wife full time again. I'll get a decent pension check starting this fall. My wife and I met with our retirement guy a couple weeks ago, and when I got in the car to leave town for my week's work, she said, "Drive carefully. You're worth a lot of money." I brushed tha…

Stop making such victims out of yourself. The society works how it works, the women think as they think. They don't owe you anything. You may choose to accept this or you may choose to go your own way. Either way, there's no need for hate. Upvoting this all day. When you spend your mental and emotional energy reacting against something, it owns you just the same as if you were its slave.

Besides some legal advice, if you can afford to get some counseling, I think that's what you need. Even if she is wavering about the relationship being over, you shouldn't be. You need professional help understanding and moving on. Meanwhile I recommend staying off Tinder and away from other dating until your current situation is finalized legally and until you have a good understanding of what if any kind of decisions/behaviors from you helped you get where you are now. Just my unprofessional 2…
