I did it, best move I made during the divorce. Wish I did it sooner. (Also, NJ)

I'm recently divorced in NJ and unless you have a record for anything 50/50 shouldn't be unobtainable. Also, for 50/50 they want you to be within 20 minutes of each other. Fight the fight, don't even entertain her. If she want to move she can give you full custody.

Who told you the judge will let her move? Have you spoken to an attorney? Whatever you do, don't listen to your ex, they'll only tell you what benefits them and as far as I know, she's no lawyer.

Do not settle for less than 50/50, don't let her try to trick you into thinking the young age it won't work. Because once you agree to less and it's put through the courts it's hard and expensive to get time added. I'm in NJ as well, between lawyers and court fees I was about $50k.

As a 27-year-old paying alimony, I wish I knew of Reddit before I made the mistake. Live and learn.

I'll be honest, I'm just as much a beginner. Unfortunately, I don't know any secret besides some women are reasonable and some aren't. In the end, it's live and learn. Im only 27, but I will say as much as it's repeated working out does help a lot. I bought the "subtle are of not giving a fuck" book. Everyone's response's help in this form, the one I don't see is Dave Ramsey, "The total money makeover" book really helped me. Because as most of us I was worried about finances, but after reading t…

Don't we all. They see the dollar signs, unfortunately.

Just be glad you're not in NJ, where they can get you for every year you've been married. I was married for 4 years. On the hook for $950 per month for 2 years plus child support. She stopped working after our daughter was born. I make around 80,000 they put her potential earnings around 28000. It sucks but still beats being married. Best of luck to you.

I understand you, I recently went to our daughter's doctors appointment. Most of the time just directing any and all questions to my STBX. It does suck but just take it as being there for your kid regardless of the culture.

Ahhh, like most women only worried about the all mighty dollar. But yes file first, lawyer up and get your ducks in a row. Don't leave the house.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
