Heh, yeah I'd laugh if I read that. No way can you enforce that.

Don't tell her a thing about anything you do.

Christ how does everyone make 200k here?

Been single over 2 years, maybe half a dozen dates and I'm sick of the process and online dating. I'd rather meet someone in person off the bat. Online dating is a scam, and where I live no one uses almost any app apparently.

Oh the lie for the restraining order...happened to me too. My ex couldn't handle me finally getting upset and confronting her about how her and her family had been treating me for years. She told everyone I was psychotic and owned guns, and based on her word alone and no proof (there was no violence or even threats, just heated words) bam, restraining order and mental health eval. The system is so fucking broken. However, getting the TRO overturned based on lies is apparently very difficult to d…

Yup. My ex was the same but luckily she calmed down into co parenting relatively normally afterwards but it took a while.

My son was 3. He was sad I was gone according to the ex and he still is, but it would have been worse if he was older.

I just want to revel in it when things crash and burn for her.

He's still married too and she's an accountant who does alright. Add to that there was sexual abuse within her family that she only told me about during the divorce and it makes me wonder. Apparently though on this sub wondering about this stuff makes me obsessed. 🙄

It doesn't, but its funny in a way that I can mock her in my own head for it.

Because the guy is basically about as similar to her dad as she can get, so it seems like a daddy issue thing.

Seems relatively common these days, were they anti poly relationships before hand?
/r/Divorce_Men13/07/22 03:21 AM

No, its more that she's dating a dude basically very similar to her dad. It wouldn't matter if I identified with them at all.

Its just weird, that's about the long and short of it.

/r/Divorce_Men13/07/22 02:37 AM

Oh I know. Its a big part of why we divorced. Her entire family is a shit tornado. Arson, larceny, incest, severe mental illness, etc.

Credit cards first. Due to needing a lawyer and moving to a hotel I had a lot on my credit card and had to tackle that first.

Wow. Sounds like a winner there.
/r/Divorce_Men10/07/22 01:56 AM

Yeah it fucked me over royally and made me lose my job because they did periodic background checks.
/r/Divorce_Men10/07/22 01:37 AM

Just words and texts that weren't threats. I was upset and demanded she bring my son home and called her an asshole and things, but nothing that should get a restraining order. Unfortunately they are easy to abuse. I still didn't lose my kids but control what you say around her and you should be OK. Record stuff if possible for your safety with a camera or audio device and save texts and emails if she ever admits she lied to get the order.
/r/Divorce_Men10/07/22 01:35 AM

You say this and that is EXACTLY what my ex did. During covid, called the cops and said she was scared and got an order with no evidence. Didn't even need to show up because the courts were closed from COVID.

Yeah I have him half the time. In my state once the RO is issued, they take the guns that day. Then if you don't have a friend who can store them all, they ship them to a warehouse that charges you a ton per item per day. So I had no choice but to sell them all for half of what I could have gotten. Oh and I still have a suspended license because the chief finds me unsuitable despite the RO being dismissed. My state sucks on gun rights. My only option is to pray my new towns police chief will iss…

Yeah she got post partum depression and became resentful and angry at me for everything, even stuff she made up in her head.
/r/Divorce_Men10/07/22 12:12 AM
1

Well I have her the house and took half the equity. She kept the cat. She lives with my son. She also filed a BS restraining order which made me lose my entire collection and ammo because in my state a police chief can find you unsuitable even if everything gets dropped
/r/Divorce_Men10/07/22 12:11 AM

Agreed and that is my plan.
/r/Divorce_Men09/07/22 08:44 PM

Yeah thats the problem. We can't read minds yet are expected to know what's wrong when someone refuses to tell us.
/r/Divorce_Men09/07/22 08:41 PM
3

Yeah, my ex hid it from me. I'm pretty good at reading people but she buried her post partum enough that no one noticed it. Then 3 years later she's mad that I'm not psychic and didn't notice it when all she needed to do was tell me. Then she began resenting me, and making up impossible standards to live up to so she could be angry at me for not doing everything perfectly. I just despise it. I did my best. As a new dad I was confused and lost and had to learn, but outside of dirty diapers and ha…

I have. I had to fight her for extra overnight days and more time because she's controlling but I got it. Most of the stuff was amicable and resolved but we still resent each other.

Yeah I'm well past all of that now. We divided everything long ago.

Yeah. I did as much as I could but she would tell me I did nothing. It still angers me because its a lie.
/r/Divorce_Men09/07/22 06:08 PM
9

No as far as I know. She got post partum. Hid it for years and then resented me for not doing "enough" when all I did was be home and do chores. Never really went out or anything. So due to her resenting me for things that I didn't do or did do, she fell out of love without telling me and wasted years of my life. Then she got a BS restraining order when I finally argued with her. No threats or violence, just some mean words after being denied working on our marriage for years. I lost my home, my…

Yes it is. She did it for years. And then blamed me for not magically knowing she was depressed when she refused to say it or discuss it. How is that my fault? Just tell straight out. I'm fairly empathetic and good at reading people but she's so closed off she hides everything behind a blank face.
/r/Divorce_Men09/07/22 06:00 PM

Its necessary for my mental health. I just can't take the lies and the stonewalling when I need an answer to a question regarding my son. I want to erase her from my life and mind but having to co parent means O can't do that.
/r/Divorce_Men09/07/22 05:52 PM

While I don't disagree it will get worse, pretending things were great before just isn't the case. We had horrible labor conditions unionists had to fight and die for. We had slavery and Jim crow, we had native genocide and so many other horrible issues. Things were only better after WW2 for white people due to Europe's economy being destroyed. Capitalism has run its course and we are seeing it fall slowly as the rich get ever richer and everyone else gets fucked.
/r/Divorce_Men08/07/22 07:38 PM
2

Yep. My gun license is permanently suspended because of a bullshit restraining order.
/r/Divorce_Men08/07/22 07:21 PM
11

Oh yes. My ex got one on me in 2020 because we argued and I got mad over her abandoning our marriage for years. All she had to do was say he's crazy and I'm scared and she got one. No proof. Only a phone call. Absolutely absurd bullshit.
/r/Divorce_Men08/07/22 07:20 PM
2

Yeah I wouldn't call CPS on this unless I had actionable evidence he hurt my kid.
/r/Divorce_Men08/07/22 07:19 PM
2

It sure is.
/r/Divorce_Men08/07/22 07:18 PM
3

Get a lawyer. My ex wife lied and said I was crazy and she was afraid and got one without proof of anything. Judge even extended it without any proof "just to be safe". The system is so easy to abuse its a joke.
/r/Divorce_Men08/07/22 05:18 PM
2

She was. She just lied about tons of other things.
/r/Divorce_Men08/07/22 03:22 PM
3

Marriage is a scam you are right.
/r/Divorce_Men08/07/22 03:21 PM
5

Yep. Thats about all I can do. It helps that she's seeing and fucking and married man who's over a decade older than her, not good looking at all either.
/r/Divorce_Men08/07/22 03:21 PM
5

I hope it crashes and burns on her.
/r/Divorce_Men08/07/22 03:49 AM
2

Thats possible.
/r/Divorce_Men05/07/22 03:18 AM
3

Yeah its infuriating. My ex did it for 2 years after our son was born and it was obvious our marriage was falling apart. She would ignore it or shut down entirely.
/r/Divorce_Men05/07/22 03:14 AM
8

My ex wife drove us to divorce by stonewalling and the silent treatment, sounds like what your ex is doing to you also. If she's doing it because her current partner demands it that is obviously controlling but not much you can do. Its difficult to co parent with someone like that, trust me I know. I'll send a text about a time I'm picking my son up and get nothing. I have to re ask hours later, sometimes multiple times just to get an answer. Its obnoxious and maddening. Two reasons people do it…

Do you think its abnormal? I promise you it isn't.
/r/Divorce_Men05/07/22 12:36 AM
4

Yeah me too, it changed nothing. Even time hasn't done much. I got married against my instincts to never marry because it should be for life.
/r/Divorce_Men05/07/22 12:35 AM
9

Unhealthy? I'd say its entirely normal to still love someone you spent a decade with and had a kid with. Its only unhealthy if it's stalking and obsession. Not sure how just still loving someone is unhealthy.

Me. I did a few times and just had no real connection with anyone I dated. Despite that, I'm lonely as hell but I still don't want to date. I'm tired of online dating. Worse yet I think I still love my ex wife even as she's moved on (or claims to have, she's good at lying and hiding her feelings) and I find myself just wishing I had my family back together. Despite that its useless to try to get it back because she's made her decision. So ill just be alone unless I magically meet someone one day…
/r/Divorce_Men04/07/22 10:18 PM
2

Yep. I still don't even want to date 2 years out from separation and a year out from divorce. I just don't have the interest, I tried it a few times and I'm just left bored and unfulfilled and go back to being alone again.
/r/Divorce_Men04/07/22 05:06 PM
1

Considering her parents bought the house next door and that drove the divorce I didn't, but still. Not always that easy to let go of.
/r/Divorce_Men04/07/22 09:43 AM
3

I hear you. Me too. If my wife could go back to the way she was years ago and apologize for what she did, we could even work on things. Her parents still live next door though and I can't get past that part.
/r/Divorce_Men04/07/22 03:29 AM

Oof. I'd be more upset if I built it. Good on you for not letting it bother you.

You can get those implants you know like they have for dogs after they get snipped.
/r/Divorce_Men04/07/22 01:16 AM

Yep and she has to pay more now after refinancing, I don't feel bad about that since this was all her choice.
/r/Divorce_Men04/07/22 12:22 AM
3

Yeah I got 35k in equity out of it since it went up 70k in 2 years, so thats nice. I just wont be buying until the market isn't insanity. Used up my first time homebuyer credit too sadly.
/r/Divorce_Men04/07/22 12:19 AM
2

Maybe, but I think she lied about not loving me as long as she claimed. Her 3 year timeline just lines up with when our son was born exactly. I think she got post partum depression and then it went downhill and she made up reasons to justify it after that.
/r/Divorce_Men29/06/22 06:15 PM
6

Yeah, my wife made up a litany of reasons she wanted divorce and most weren't even true. Then said she stopped loving me years ago which likely also wasn't true. People suck, basically.
/r/Divorce_Men29/06/22 05:14 PM

Sadly it usually will become half hers yes
/r/Divorce_Men28/06/22 11:12 PM

I would block her. She chose to fuck you over and now needs you for basic life stuff? Tell her too bad. She lost you with what she did and now she can find someone else to help her survive life.
/r/Divorce_Men28/06/22 04:29 PM
1

Yeah because a habitual liar dodging a simple question and me wondering why the lying is so unique. Half the comments are dumb about "Durr take to hospital!" Which was address and not something that was even at issue. You listen to Jordan Peterson at all? It would make sense.

If your values are being a dumbass like Jordan then sure.

There are no victims, well except for victims of bad responses jumping to conclusions.
/r/Divorce_Men28/06/22 02:13 AM

Yeah because the numerous posts misinterpreting the situation and not knowing the full story yet jumping to conclusions that I am obsessed makes a whole lot of sense. Sounds like most responses are from people who don't co parent either.
/r/Divorce_Men28/06/22 01:50 AM

Supposedly. Yeah I have my own anxiety and depression at times but she knew it long before we married. I gave her an out to marriage saying I was nuts but she wouldn't take it.

No, you don't get what I was saying, hence why I deleted the post. Again, she had stated she was going to see her brother out of range and she would want to be notified ASAP. Secondly, she was weird about where she was going and that would make anyone curious about what was going on. So please don't make incorrect assumptions, thanks.
/r/Divorce_Men27/06/22 01:26 PM
3

Unfortunately I didn't know of this trauma on my ex wife's end until we split and she told me what her family and brothers had done. Then it made more sense as to why she was the way she was.
/r/Divorce_Men25/06/22 10:05 PM

Yeah it was absolutely hell for almost a year. I bounced back eventually.
/r/Divorce_Men25/06/22 08:40 PM

Again, its about contact in case of emergency for my son. Then its about the fact that she's such a weirdo.
/r/Divorce_Men25/06/22 08:23 PM

If someone says something that I want to know the answer to and they deny the answer its annoying. Doesnt matter who it is.

I would try for the temporary order. Record anything you can, keep screenshots of texts and see if your state allows audio recording of one party consent.
/r/Divorce_Men25/06/22 05:22 PM
2

Depending on your state you don't even need proof. But as a man getting one on a woman they may dismiss it because of sexist beliefs. In my state, because it happened to me, all she needed was to say over the phone I was crazy and she was scared and they issued it.
/r/Divorce_Men25/06/22 03:58 PM
1

Are you braindead? I can handle it but she will WANT TO KNOW ASAP if her son ends up in the hospital. Do you have kids? You don't seem to understand how co parenting works. So stop talking.
/r/Divorce_Men25/06/22 03:53 PM

Sure it is if she needs to be reached in case of emergency regarding our son. What a dumb response. Is there like a disease of the brain going around on here today?
/r/Divorce_Men25/06/22 03:36 PM
1

There is no point in continuing this conversation, but here goes. There is no difference nor did I say there was. However if there is a way to contact her somehow while she is on a dead zone I want to know. Hence why I asked if thats where she was going. I dont see whats complicated about this. She would want to know ASAP because she'd have a long drive back. And if there is an alternate way to reach her I'd want to know. Her brother may have a landline phone or something I don't know. If she or…

Someone sent me an essay and video talk titled "Why you will marry the wrong person" and it is good. I'll link it here: https://youtu.be/-EvvPZFdjyk Most people want to find that forever person but it seems nearly impossible in this day and age with social media. People can see other people they think are better and they can drop you and pursue them. I never should have gotten married but I did against my instincts.
/r/Divorce_Men25/06/22 03:31 PM
1

I'm always going to be curious it doesn't matter who it is. "Oh man something really cool happened" "Oh yeah what was it?" "Nevermind its not important" That type of response is abnormal and most normal people will then wonder why it was brought up in the first place if you're not going to say it.
/r/Divorce_Men25/06/22 03:27 PM
0

No shit, but she's going to want to know and its normal to want to find out some way to let her know. Again people are acting like this isn't a normal situation and its weird.
/r/Divorce_Men25/06/22 03:26 PM
0

Why? I've been to therapists I'm all set. I dont care where she is unless she's in a dead zone visiting her brother and my son gets hurt and I need to notify her. Also I'm curious because she acts like its a huge secret. It doesn't matter who says it, if someone says "Oh I'm going somewhere" the logical follow up is "Oh yeah where?". If you then make it sound like a secret it only makes me more curious. This isn't abnormal and doesn't need a therapist. These dumb responses are giving me a headac…

The emergency would be injury or severe asthma attack requiring hospitalization. I would want to notify her ASAP and she would want to be notified. . My son would be with me and I would bring him to the ER. Where she is, if she's with her brother then she's in a dead zone out of reach because he lives in the woods hours away. These questions are idiotic so I deleted the post. You people are showing the dumb side of Reddit again.
/r/Divorce_Men25/06/22 03:22 PM

Yeah it sure does.
/r/Divorce_Men25/06/22 02:58 PM

Yup. She got a BS restraining order after we argued intensely a few times over her basically abandoning the marriage for years. Her response was to take my son and run off, call a number during COVID and claim I was a psycho and she was scared to get a restraining order. Since it was COVID times she didn't have to even show up or show any proof it was just granted. She kept my son from me for 3 plus months, made me lose my job, just everything. All for her bullshit. Why? I live dangerously. Again if she was taking the long distance trip I want to know if its for emergencies. The fact that she made it so weird just made me wonder more. Just say going out around here you can reach me. Simple. She doesn't know how to communicate though. Hence the divorce.
/r/Divorce_Men25/06/22 04:04 AM

I'm sorry. I went through it and it was hell so I know exactly how you feel. How arguments and no threats turn into a restraining order and then including a child who wasn't part of any issue or argument is beyond me.
/r/Divorce_Men23/06/22 01:31 PM

Yeah she's not going to steal my parenting time. We aren't fighting over any of that and I've been getting more time over time. I'm just bummed this new guy will get to see my son at my old house when I cant.

Could be, haven't thought of it that way.
/r/Divorce_Men22/06/22 11:45 AM

Thats gross. I'm fairly confident she wouldn't do that as she knows how important I am to our son, but ill be vigilant just in case. How can she force you out of their lives? False accusations? My ex already did that with false restraining orders and kept me out of his life for 3 months. Luckily he was young and hopefully won't remember it.
/r/Divorce_Men22/06/22 02:36 AM

I understand and this just means you have empathy for others and thats a good thing. Like you I still care when my ex struggles even though she ruined my life and marriage. I can't just stop caring.

Damn. I'm jealous of your income but honestly with her you should forget about the sex and let her crash and burn this relationship. Rebound type of relationships never really work out and she may come running back after time, or you move on and so does she. Either way if you move on from her its best for you either way.

Yup. The "make false accusations" to police is something people love to do during divorce. It happened to me also. No proof, just claims.

Tell her to move out.

The best part is she can violate the order to the point of getting YOU arrested and charged for violating it. My ex wife filed a bullshit one on me too and then repeatedly called me anywhere I went. If I answered I am then in violation BUT NOT HER. The system makes no fucking sense.

No, our rings were $100 each. 🤣

Yeah I hear you. Although I have few friends anyway and I bring him along most places anyway.

Yikes man. I'm glad my ex doesn't do this. Every time she acts nice and friendly out of nowhere I end up mad and push her away.

I felt like I abandoned my son being forced to do 50/50. I've adjusted it over time to see him more often but just the fact that I don't live with him means I see him less and it sucks. I can't imagine actually walking away.

Yeah it sounds like had she not taken it so far she may have had more luck.

Wow. At least you got the PO denied. My ex told them over the phone I was psychotic and she was scared and thats all they needed to issue one.

Oh yes. The "you should have read my mind" stuff happens all the time and is infuriating. I'm not psychic! State the issue, I'm not going to be able to magically pull it from your mind.

Literally saying you both don't want it. Thats all we did.

It does get better but it can take a while. Took me 6 months to a year to care about doing much of anything.

Funny. Sounds like my ex's boyfriend not boyfriend who is married and not even separated.

They do but men are more aggressive overall.

Its part of the overall tough guy toxic masculinity thing that causes idiots to get into fist fights to seem tough. Like fighting over girls, or doing dangerous things to prove they are tough guys.

What's wrong about teaching him not to follow societal rules about being a toxic man? Like how men can't cry? I see no issue.

Yup. In my exs case shes going to desperately try to find someone to make her happy and likely never find it.

I never thought she'd lie about me to everyone and call me psychotic to get me forced our of our home in the midst of the pandemic. She would never do that. Until she did.

I wish I had to see what the deal is with my ex.

They can take into account earning potential to my understanding. Like if one spouse stays unemployed to not have to pay the courts will judge based on their credentials and work history what they could be making and go from there.

My son loves his mom but occasionally he will tell me he doesn't like her because she made me leave the house and it makes him sad.

You're doing the right thing and she's gonna realize one day that she fucked up because she thought she could do better, and clearly she can't. My ex is currently trying to date a married man 10 years older than her who isn't even separated from his wife. Simply because he's there and was our landscaper. She told me they've already had rough patches...they aren't even dating! My ex will eventually come crawling back or want to and be so stubborn that she won't. Either way, whatever. She fucked m…

Absolutely and false cases are likely quite common, but reporting them rarely happens. Also proving perjury for a hearsay argument is next to impossible, and DAs won't prosecute cases against a claimed victim lying. Its good its easy to get for people actually suffering abuse, but its a double edged sword because that makes it open to abuse. Even abusers use them against their victims, another way they are misused.

Sorry to hear that. It is a nightmare, and then people tend not to believe you. They think if someone got an RO you MUST have hurt them and they had evidence. No. That isn't how it works. My ex wife and I had argued and said mean things and she took my son and left to her relatives. I was rightfully upset and told her not to harm our son and to come home ASAP or there would be problems, like I would file for divorce. Well during COVID all she had to do was call a crisis phone number from the pol…

You get a false RO too? I still have PTSD nightmares about the experience so I'm not 100 percent over it but it gets better in time.

I'm just here to read stories. My ex fucked me over hard with a false restraining order but it was 2 years ago now.
