Perhaps, but what is the alternative? Fear? Leading to hate and distrust? We are not going to build a society together without having open minds and hearts. Even, to be candid, if such trust isn't warranted. We still need to try.

I think, worldwide, people are beginning to understand that the war on men just doesn't help anyone.

I simply thought it was an interesting read. I don't make any comment on the conclusion.

At face value yes. GF or ex GF's of mates are off limits. It's a "bro code". You messed up. Sorry man just telling you how it is. We all F up in life sometimes and you did the right thing telling him. If you never made a mistake in life you would never learn anything new.

So you know people who have smoked it for 30 - 40 years? Because none of those I've known are in a good way mate.

No, I'm good, mate. Enjoy your visit to the psych ward. Either to meet someone to warn you why you should stop, or you'll go as a patient later in life.

As I said go and actually meet someone whos been doing it for 30-40 years. Hopefully it will shock you enough that you'll stop.

I'm taking that as a yes. Legalising drugs is not a Men's rights issue. They are crimanised, for all, for good reason. Why? Just go an talk to someone who has been smoking weed for 30 - 40 years. They are easy to find, psych wards are full of them.

This is a great, and brave, step. These are difficult things to say in todays society. Yes I wish she showed more care for the boys themselves, rather than only how their actions impact woman. Though Rome wasn't built in a day.

While the mens right forum has issues, there is no way a reasonable person could say it is worse than TwoX (I just double-checked).

Yes they are. Gladys directly discriminated against us in NSW by giving women $5000 as a covid payment (not men). Men have less support for housing and end up on the streets. Men have less spent on healthcare (and die younger). Men make up almost all sucides and murders (though goverments focus is solely on DV). Do you need more examples?

Of course they don't! I've had many lesbian friends in my life. They are just like anybody else. Perhaps she is simply not interested in anything related to men? There is no reason that she should be after all.

I'm sorry this has been your experience in life. Maybe you haven't met the right person yet? I wish you all the best, but please don't blame all women for a few bad encounters. We aren't one of those radical femanist subreddits. We have a higher standard.

I'm extremely sorry for your loss. I wish you nothing but the best. I don't think anyone was trying to shit on you (as you put it). Simply the "know your worth" just isn't really the issue on the whole (sure it is for some). I know my value. I want governments to work towards closing the gap and helping men. I have no hatred, or issues with women. Not in the slightest. They are equals. They have worked hard to fix issues they have (though there are still issues that need working on). On the cont…

In Australia, the political party called "One Nation" have made equality for men a policy. As women have a Minister for Women, they feel (as any fair and reasonable person would) men also need one to help look into their issues. I should add neither of our largest parties share this policy... One Nation typically are quite a far right party, though they also have a few centre policies (unlike our mainstream parties). It's quite a mixed bag here.

Emm Ok.... but key things to raise awareness of are... Lower life span Higher murder rate More men "sign out of life" than women More men sleep rough on the streets. And many others... Bringing awareness to these issues allows men, and interested others, to reflect on who they cast their vote on. If this is more of a topic in general conversation, and this forum grows, perhaps countries will start to govern better and make policy changes to help men achieve equality. In all candor, I'm not sure …

To the best of my understanding, men make up 75% - 80% of all suicides. I would say that is "almost all." Though the numbers are clearer. Absolutely, women suffer from this as well (obviously). I'm mearly pointing out that while women get representation and help due to their issues (20 - 25%), men do not. My point stands.
/r/MensRights30/08/24 10:40 PM
72

Well I think it's for much the same reason we don't have a Minster for Men, despite men living shorter lives and making up almost all suicides. Unlike women, via feminism, men don't vote as a block against discrimination. In fact, if a party showed equality, it may hurt their election chances as they may get blacklisted by key extreme feminist. Quite simply, nobody cares, and so research like that is not funded.

Well, I wanted to avoid saying it, as it's a weird angle. Though many women can start things like OnlyFan if they are totally desperate (some I know have done stripping for example - back in the day). These can be highly paid low skilled work. For a number of reasons, these options simply don't exist for most men. They simply don't have the choice (even if they were willing to be a stripper) that many unskilled women would. But I totally respect some could not do this(I certainly couldn't even i…

A few have, but I don't see that as a majority. Most absolutely acknowledge the terrible conditions women go through in Afghanistan and wish the situation could improve. I'm well aware that she posts on iceltears and is quite possibly just looking for material to laugh at us. Sure, she may find some. I don't think anyone here is seriously suggesting the situation for Women in Afghanistan is anyway the same as it is for Men in Western Society. Just because one country (which none of us appear to live in) has extreme issues, does this mean Men can't have equality in other countries?

Obviously, in many countries, the conditions for women are dreadful, and they need all the help they can get. I think it goes without saying that this forum is to help men achieve equality with women in certain Western countries (USA, UK, Australia, NZ and maybe a few others). To be honest, I haven't really thought about the academic success of one gender or another in Western society. It might give you a laugh, but I got banned on the Feminism subreddit. I debated with another user that they shouldn't blame all men for one mans bad actions. I've done the same here on this subreddit, but in reverse. The difference is I didn't get banned on here for sticking up for a women. Not a joke. Women didn't used to have the right to vote, own a credit card, even get a job... Women have had emense battles to fight. And they have won. Men should learn from those examples and also try and achieve equality in other areas.

No... Just no... Please just delete this rubbish. Feminism has had a massive positive impact on the world. Yes, it's not about men (which they claim it is), but it has really improved equality for many.

While, in it's own right this might be a good thing. It's the fact that we are losing way more men than women (through their own hands and/or murders) and yet we don't even have a Minister for Men. Yet they introduce this and we still don't have a Minister for Men. It's almost as if they are saying that they genuinely don't care about men, at all, and they aren't even hiding it anymore.

So I don't want to get into a "left" vs "right" debate. Yes, the $5000 was done by the "right" side of politics. The Labor side told men to "do better". Neither are for mens rights. Infact the only one who believes in Mens rights is a fairly far right party called "One Nation" (led by a woman). Now... While their polices for men are actually the only centre polices around, their other polices are not centre... not at all in many cases...

The NSW state government actually discriminated against men during covid. They gave $5000 assistance to only women who had lost their job. Blatant discrimination is rampant, so much so even businesses feel they can get away with discriminating against men (a recent case was an art gallery). Our PM told all men to "do better" due to the DV crisis. Though says nothing as middle-aged women become the face of the crack business. We have a Minister for Women, but not Men. I respect your viewpoint as well. One area I don't agree with this kind of thing is when former men then compete in womens sports. So I get that there are limits. Though, I can't see this as any kind of "issue". If I didn't want to talk to a particular person, I would just avoid that person. And I don't know if them having a "choice" is fair. Imagine you woke up tomorrow in a womans body. Are you now a man or a woman? I can only imagine that's how some of them are feeling.

As a more unbiased test, maybe newspaper articles would be a good guide? I haven't seen one for this, though I'm quite sure I read quite a few about women's mental health week. The other way to look at it is severity. The vast majority of sucides are by men. While nothing should be taken away from women (as we don't want to undo the good work and slip backwards), men really need more recognition than they are getting to help close the gap.
/r/MensRights30/06/24 09:32 PM

As a general point: I only ever learnt about Men's Health Month after joining this forum. Obviously, I have an interest in the topic. So I would guess 99.99% of people have never heard of it. I have heard about the woman's one. I don't think I have ever seen a newspaper article about the men's one. Irronically, if you combined it with the women's week, I have no doubt in would increase awareness for men's mental health as it gets next to zero recognition.

On reflection, I'm not sure I agree with the process. AI still has a very long way to go. Without knowing how many people meet bears we dont know the probability of an attack. If humans never meet a bear then there would be 0 attacks (no matter how aggressive they are, or aren't). Though humans will always meet other humans. There isn't enough data to make a sensible deduction.
/r/MensRights30/06/24 08:48 AM

However bears are not present everywhere in the world. For example in New Zealand there are no bears, outside of zoos. Nor are they the same species in different parts of the world. So the risks of a bear attack are actually very seriously under estimated if you are considering global populations.

A key factor, which can't be overlooked is deaths. Women make up the vast majority of deaths from DV. Naturally when it gets to that level, or close to that level, the cops need to be involved. Every couple argues. We can't have the state refere every argument. Though over time it can get out of hand. This verbally abuse DV seems to fly under the radar more. This is true for all genders. These are good points, though perhaps more critically: 1) Life expectancy, men live so much less than women. 2) Mental health (all round).
