I've seen men, getting actual PTSD, from their jobs breaking down to tears, because the amount of workload that was piling up and being "dumped" on them because their "female coworkers" couldn't do it 🤷‍♂️... Having to do the work of others, and being at the constant risk of being blamed, ostracized or discarded, just because a man "can take it better" and swallow it every day, for years...🤔 It's awful. The worst part is that many times they can't just quit, because there's no other near available job. And of course not any type of help either. Just total isolation

Sooo…I’m in a supervisory FIFO roll in Canada but not really dealing with that problem. I will say, mining can be and is a dangerous occupation at times. The ABSOLUTE last thing we need in a dangerous-list-topping occupation is under qualified people for the sake of fucking feelings or forced equity. The ONLY metric should be ability. That ability has to include qualifications, physicality, AND mental ability as it’s not an easy thing to be so far from home and suddenly you’re having a shit week and feel like calling in but you have to get on with it because it’s not like you’re going to just hang out in your 10x10 camp room for the day. If that all around ability is present, hire them. No matter gender. There may be personality conflicts and you certainly don’t want immature troublemakers, but generally if you know your shit, differences get worked out. It’s not a soft industry where we can teach 10 ply personalities to cope. It just doesn’t work.
