Not exactly related but... It's strange how Singapore has gone full feminist. Especially after they were so careful not to let their society fragment along racial lines... But Singapore always leaned authoritarian so I guess feminism is a natural fit.

>I think you are missing the point. Well someone is.... You overlook the fact that class isn't the cause of most of our problems. Class doesn't cause the vilification of males. Class didn't cause our loss of equality before the law. Class didn't cause the discrimination in the workplace, schools and medical care.

I agree with your intent but not your tactics. First, it’s not us conflating the Men’s Rights Movement with the manosphere – feminists did that when they took up the term. Wikipedia uses the same definition of manosphere used throughout academia: The manosphere is a varied collection of websites, blogs, and online forums promoting masculinity, misogyny, and opposition to feminism. Communities within the manosphere include men's rights activists (MRAs)... And in case you missed the point, this su…

I counsel against putting too much faith in anything a feminist says. Betty Frieden was instrumental in putting sex-based affirmative action in place in the US - ie female privilege & anti-male discrimination.

"Red pill" just means seeing through feminist propaganda. So, yes, I support that. The problem is people like you sowing division and pushing feminism. Why would anyone of good intention sow division? How could anyone honestly ask which does more damage - feminism or anti-feminism? Your allegiance is clear.

Bullshit. We are the enemy. r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates & others criticising feminism are exactly the manosphere that worries them & they want to scare people away from. Just as what's posted here & elsewhere is painted as red-pill by feminists. Which is why people like you villify feminist critics. Your #1 source is ABC - the most anti-male media of all! You drag in Andrew Tate! This is false-flag misinformation.

Best to be sceptical. This comes from the Australian Institute of Family Studies. Earlier this year they were caught out manipulating data to hide female violence against men + misrepresenting research to deny female coercive control.

You say: Right wing MRA aims to advocate for institutions and policies that restore the traditional role and benefit of men. They support rigid gender role while criticizing the concurrent society for failing to pay proper honor, recognition, and benefits that men deserve. Are you sure? Feminists say that but I've never seen it. I have to think it's just propaganda.

It was the same in Australia: https://www.bettinaarndt.com.au/news/the-great-covid-domestic-violence-fundraiser/ Later confirmed by ABS DV homicide data such as you cite. And in the US: https://freakonomics.com/podcast/did-domestic-violence-really-spike-during-the-pandemic/ The whole thing was a scam but MSM has kept a lid on it.

I know & trust someone from Parents Beyond Breakup AKA Dads in Distress. The general problem is the mental health industry is dominated by women who are mostly feminist. Even if an organisation is set up with good intentions it quickly gets captured by feminists & turns anti-male. Australian Men’s Health Forum is the latest to go anti-male. Sigh

Reassuring words but I'm deeply suspicious. The Liberals have anti-male form - they even voted for the 2023 Family Law Bill. Now they are under pressure from One Nation & have apparently discovered males. But the only promise is to deliver a strategy next year. I'd like to see more than just a document.

Great post. Apparently Paul Edbrooke's main task will be to "tackle the manosphere". The head of a misandrist organisation said his "appointment recognised the scale and complexity of the problem" - the "problem" being men. In summary, there's ample evidence the ALP appointees are anti-male. And best not to get your hopes up about the others.
/r/MensRights06/05/26 10:52 PM

A cynical take would be that this has happened after a huge shift towards the right wing One Nation party - the only party that has traditionally been pro-male. Other parties are just trying to win back some voters. But will they change their policies? Also many of these posts aren't about helping men, they are about addressing the manosphere, toxic masculinity, men's violence etc

There's only so much qualification you can fit into the title. The body makes it clear, so "No" it's not misleading. And it's definitely not "intentionally misleading". That's worth an apology IMHO. If you are so wedded to the "Man bad, Women victim " narrative maybe you need to think about the issues a bit more. Compassion for women is fine. Bigotry against men isn't.

Rate for IPV against men is 18.4% = 2.5 times * 7.4% (Rate for IPV by men) 2.5 times is more than twice. Hence "twice as violent". Clear? Saying of the day: Facts don't care about your feelings or prejudices. PS: I replied to your earlier comment first but have moved my reply here.

>First, if you ran the same study with women, you would probably also find that women were more likely to report experiencing IPV than perpetrating it, purely on the grounds that we're looking at self-reported data. Women actually self-report high perpetration rates. But the thing is, almost all studies only ask women about victimhood - it's how they maintain the narrative. So a study taking the other approach is important because it helps complete the picture. >Second, it's hard to claim the fi…

I can see why you say that. There are women who support feminism because of the privilege it gives them. And others because of the buzz of empathy and communion. But I still think you are too cynical. Around 1800, many English opposed slavery. In Nazi Germany, many Germans sheltered Jews. There are moral people out there - and many of them are women. I’ve been privileged to know some.

Even evolutionarily psychologists would (mostly) agree with that. You don't need social constructivism to justify it. The problem is that social constructivism catapaults you into a whole new dimension of crazy. Consider this anecdote from philosopher David Detmer about a conversation with Laurie Calhoun: When I had occasion to ask her whether or not it was a fact that giraffes are taller than ants, she replied that it was not a fact, but rather an article of religious faith in our culture.

This isn't about getting "The people who try to discredit us ... to start listening...". They won't. It's about making clear that we aren't the strawmen feminists talk of. You can say "The Manosphere is a predominantly online subculture ...". But that's not the accepted definition. The actual definition says it's made up of conservative, misogynist and violent men.

>I think it can be used to block discussion of boys and men's genuine needs and issues. Here in Aus, a group of powerful male ferminists centered on Michael Flood is labelling criticism of feminism "ideological misogyny". (Example) And they are pushing for censorship & use of the security apparatus based on an argument that manosphere = "ideological misogyny" = incel = terrorism. (Example ) It is getting scary.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates11/04/26 11:15 PM

The reason feminists conflate all these groups is tactics - they can equate all critics of feminism with a handful of misogynists &/or violent individuals.

I agree with your position but not your terminology. Feminism opposes equal treatment of men and women - ie it opposes equality. (Sometimes called equal opportunity or formal equality.) Feminism supports a one-sided version of equality of outcomes. (Sometimes called "gender equality" or substantive equality.) I understand why you might be confused with the terminology - I think feminism promotes that confusion deliberately. But it makes it really hard to communicate if we use the wrong words.

In a traditional liberal view, women don’t have rights, men don’t have rights, humans have rights. Anything from “What’s your is yours” through to “To each according to his need” can be liberal. What’s not liberal is carving up resources & allocating them to women as a group or men as a group. So his position is liberal enough.

[Everything before the "but" is bullshit] But when some people focus on blaming women instead of talking about solutions, it can make the whole movement look worse. Yeah it could if significant numbers of MRAs did it. But they don't. The problem here is that feminists create strawmen like this because they can't engage with the actual issues.

You're right. There's a lot of evidence that women rate themselves higher in empathy. But there's almost no evidence they are. Men measure as high in empathy in all tests except one - “Reading the Mind in the Eyes Test” (RMET). On that test, women measure higher - but, because it gives different results to all the other measures of empathy, it's likely it's measuring something different ie not empathy.

Thanks for your post - professional comment is especially valuable. You suggest the solution is political, and I’m sure you’re largely right. But I think the scale of the problem goes deeper than most realise: the Family Court is now ideologically captive to feminism, and other courts are moving that way. The legal system rests upon the impartiality of courts & that no longer exists. The system has failed &, in so doing, shown that it's inherently vulnerable. Can that be fixed?

-Australia really became anti-male, but I get the impression that’s slowed down... In the last year Australia cut spending on men's health programs to zero and bought in the most discriminatory changes to family law this century. Which raises a very important point... My concern is that we are getting sucked into assuming all accusations are true, all accusers are "victim-survivors". Even though we know women are commonly encouraged to create accusations for tactical purposes. The most recent survey says 1 in 6 Australian men are victims of false accusations - up from 1 in 7 a year ago. Thanks for the considered reply. But I will exercise my right to disagree. When we use feminism's vocabulary we endorse their assumptions. My issue with your approach is tactical. Feminists have successfully conflated the manosphere, misogyny and violence – per the Wikipedia definition. The result is they are getting funding (in US, Australia & probably elsewhere) to divert people away from criticism of feminism on the Internet – something I find deeply worrying. Now you can redefine “Manosphere” to be something that actually exists. The danger is that, if you do, every time you use the term, you legitimise the feminist use of the …

I've written about this before but I don't understand how feminists are getting away with this. An organisation called Our Watch has infiltrated schools & made them centres for the spread of feminist propaganda. Many of us would love to do unbiased research that could help men but of course there's no way to get funding. In fact, it's pretty much impossible for a non-feminist to get a job in academia - especially in sensitive areas like health, law, sociology, criminology etc.

Notice in the first graph (top left) how the arc for women looks much bigger than that for men - even though the numbers are slightly less. Normally one would use a histogram. Same here in Australia though the evidence is sparse. Why? Because feminists have blocked reporting of statistics about who perpetrates child abuse: https://bettinaarndt.substack.com/p/erasing-mothers-violence-towards This means it's hard to effectively protect children but that doesn't seem to be a concern to them. It seems to me that if you target one group (females given that we are talking about feminists) that's the same as excluding others (their out-group - males). the notion of specifically targeting groups is to have programs that reach out to people where they tend to be at. That's not what's happening here. If you read it, it's an illegal girl-only program. Males are excluded. It's discrimination. Perhaps you are confused by the justification they used. A good tip os to focus on what feminists do & ignore their words. You missed one of the key ones: family law. The system is vicious towards children, men in general & fathers in particular. You have quite a comprehensive list of areas of discrimination but the thing that often gets overlooked is the misandry/vilification. Politicians, journalists & acquaintances rarely miss an opportunity to vilify males. Enduring that every day of your life isn’t easy. When feminist mythology about patriarchy predicts the opposite to reality, they don't admit they're wrong. Instead they invoke "benevolent sexism" as a way of explaining away the many cases where their beliefs are contradicted by the real world. The result is that their beliefs cannot be disproven by evidence. But it also makes their claims meaningless & self-contradictory.

Two things you need to understand: It's not true that two women a week die from domestic violence. That figure comes from including home invasions, female on female violence & anything else they could find. So girls were protected but not boys. Australian sex discrimination law doesn't protect males much but they are surely incompatible with this. They are going the same way as the family Court. This game is rigged.

Feminism (any school that need concern us) literally couldn’t exist without their belief in women as victims. Make no mistake, this is coming to your neighbourhood. Critical mass of women in the corridors of power have been reached, and they don't care about fairness. Women aren't the problem. The problem is feminists. And the cause is an ideology (feminism but there are others) that focusses on a group (women) rather than than individuals (people).

Originally, as a term in sociology, it referred to a society. Feminists liked that idea but eventually accepted (at least the more sophisticated feminists) that our society isn't like that. So they now claim the patriarchy is hidden (their term) behind the closed doors of families. See eg Stark

Bettina cites a survey on false accusations. Aus & Canada come out as really bad as one would expect. UK has nothing like the problem with false accusations. But India has the biggest problem of all. Interesting given the common assumption that things are worst in the English speaking world. Is it coincidence that India also has an adversarial legal system? But that doesn't explain UK's relatively good (less bad?) performance. Of course this is just one data point. Nothing about education, healt…

Just stumbled across a quote from the report: This demonstrates the paradox of women’s imprisonment, in that while the number of women imprisoned relative to men is small, the potential negative impact it has on society is very large; women’s incarceration is very likely to diminish the prospects of future generations since women are an important ‘resource’ for their communities and families, and especially their children. Prisoners mostly men but women more important.

About the murder rates for domestic violence... The article says: The majority of FDV related homicide victims were female (53% or 71 victims) So 53% female vs 47% male. Essentially equal - ie not significantly different. A quick comparison to previous years suggests that FDV homicide of males may be becoming more common. Also, since we know that lesbian relationships are significantly more violent than heterosexual ones, I speculate that most murderers may be female.

As others have noted explicit discrimination like quotas is part of the reason. And implicit discrimination like everyone wanting to help women is also a factor. Based on my experience I'd add that HR departments are also a very big actor. All are dominated by women & many are strongly feminist. By pressure & processes they can really hijack an organisation.

All the normal arguments about quotas & "positive" discriination apply. But there are particular problems with applying this sort of discrimination to government - at least in liberal democracies. It's a very l;ong story but, in a nutshell, liberal democracies are made of individuals not identity groups. Allocating seats to identity groups is quite contrary to this since it gives privileges (or perhaps rights) to an identity group while eroding the rights of individuals. One of the foremost poli…

Essentially their position is that you don't get health equity unless you are one of our approved groups. They use the phrase "disadvantaged" a lot, but in fact these groups receive privilege. Or "XXX was actually invented by a woman." In one such case I looked into it & the woman actually just translated the manuscript! But there are also more significant rewrites to get history to conform to the "Man bad, woman victim" narrative. For context you can start with Wikipedia or this article or this journal

As a society, we should be accepting of men and masculinity instead of trying to redefine it. I disagree. We shouldn't accept or redefine the term masculinity, we should be calling out its use as hate speech. The context in which it is used is always the vilification of men as a group. The professor of law who designed the original legislation for shared parenting (the bit that's being removed now) said this current proposal: "stripped almost all references which encourage the meaningful involvement of both parents in relation to the child after separation" https://archive.is/Pt6Xr The proposed change will take the legislation back to where it was last century - when things were completely one-sided with children treated as the property of the mother. Your title makes it sound like you might think the root of the issue lies in how the laws are written, but that's not always the case. For example, I looked up the actual text of the Title IX regulation that's the basis for all the issues there, and as it's written, it's balanced gender wise and not that unreasonable That's probably the most common situation. The laws, as written, aren't sexist but the system and the key people sure are. Here in Aus, feminists have become expert at creating a "s…

Is there an ethos that transcends the average person? Yes - people have an in-built moral compass. Depending on whether you are religious or not you may have different ideas about where it comes from, but people do align. Feminism runs counter to that compass. MRA and Feminism isn't specifically a left/right political thing. I agree but with some reservations... In all honesty, when I hear someone say that they believe feminism is a right-wing political movement, I think they are pants-on-head crazy... Feminism is against free speech and equality but in favour of privilege for the in-group and discrimination against the underclass. Those positions have been identified with the right - though more so in the past.

It's like whack-a-mole. The feminists said, C-suite jobs - we'll stop men getting them & take those. University education - just a bit more discrimination. Teaching - get rid of the last men. Academia? More discrimination against men = more jobs for the girls. Law, politics, medicine... Men won't keep looking for other areas to work for ever. Are these true, or this is just a myth? Does it matter? If you keep listening the argument will go one - therefore it's ok to get even (or something very similar). Basically they claim some wrong in the past & use that to justify the wrong they wish to perpetrate today. But even if their history is right, the ethics behind the argument are wrong. Rule of thumb: If someone relies on history to justify their actions then their actions are probably unjustifiable. Think about it.

Narratives such as you describe encapsulate beliefs that we can do without. The way feminism rushed to develop a set of beliefs (patriarchy, misandry, social constructivism etc) explains in large part how it developed into the malignant supremacist movement we see today. I think the patriarchy falacy might still persist due to not been a better developed concept to replace it with if that makes sense. I actually think second wave feminism was against gender roles & was against sexism. Feminism today though has turned 180 - sexism lies at its core. Many gender roles have been broken down & almost all that remain work in favour of females & against men. Contemporary feminism demands that such roles remain & be strengthened. And sexist generalisations are practically all it deals with.

Rather than being inalienable, rights are conditional upon access to the media, funding & public sympathy. That’s absolutely abhorrent. And in the men vs women case, there’s the obvious fact that men have no chance of getting the same sympathy, medi…

There's an elephant in the room. There's quite a lot of evidence in Australia linking male suicide to the family court & relationship breakdown. For example. But of course no academic would dare touch that issue. Likewise politicians. Most of the media definitely want to bury those very un-woke facts. Result: No one cares. FWIW I've been through that mill & I'm not surprised men suicide - I'm surprised so many have the strength to carry on.

Ah! You must be a feminist so I'll try to keep it simple. Let me explain. Male victims of suicide are killed by males. Female victims of suicide are killed by females.

Same in Australia. Men are 3/4 of suicides but most of the funding goes to women: https://www.amhf.org.au/give_blokes_a_fair_share_of_suicide_funding_says_amhf

"reiterates the government’s commitment to ensuring that male victims of crimes which disproportionately affect women and girls are supported." Why qualify it like that? It sounds like male victims will be supported - but only a little, because women & girls are most affected. How does that make sense? Should female assault victims only be supported a little because they are less frequent? Female lung cancer patients likewise?

How long until riders can choose as well? We could end up with Uber-apartheid - seperate cars for men & women. I guess they won't extend it to letting drivers specify which races they'll accept... EDIT: The corollary here is that men will face longer waits for an Uber than women. Why accept second class service? I've used DiDi & they are fine + much cheaper in peak periods. At least give them (or some other competitor) a try.

The author rightly observes that service industry jobs dominated by women are rising whereas many traditional male jobs are declining. “Men can take up employment in these high-growth areas, but they seem to be choosing not to,” she [Sydney University’s professor of gender, work and employment relations] said. The second part is also worth a read. A few million $ was spent on a survey to prove there was a rape crisis on university campuses. However, this may seem paradoxical in terms of policy implications, because, theoretically, this could only be achieved through providing preferential treatment to males, effectively discriminating against females. Wrong. Here in Aus, & I suspect in every Western country, much more money is spent on women's health than men's. And they know it.

Are gender-specific services legal in Aus? Yes - gender specific services for women are legal according to the feminists in charge of "Human RIghts". In case you were wondering - No - such services for men are not legal. That's kinda shitty. Also it's discrimination. But if it's discrimination against men then that's OK.

First they divide up the services into "These bits reserved for women" & "These bits for men" or, as here, "These bits for everyone - even men". Then the funding all ends up with women's services & almost none for men. Same old tactic.

One of the central tenets of feminism is "Man bad, Woman victim" - in other words "Patriarchy Theory". What he said. The problem is that women tend to support other women. Moreover men will generally support women over men. (There are masses of evidence on these points. Just ask if you haven't come asross them.) So, once there is a division along gender lines, the result will be increasing privilege for women & increasing vilification of men.

This was done by the conservative side of politics - though perhaps because their leader needed backing from the feminist media. Labor (the equivalent of Democrats) have criticised the program because it doesn't extend to all women.

Thay say:"Gender equality gives men and women the same opportunities at work" Great. So how can they reconcile that principle with denying men access to these programmes? Yet another programme that's only available based on gender rather than need.

Thanks for your response. My comment was ad hominem & badly put. My issue is that your questions assume feminist mythology about the MRM. The beliefs behind those questions are apparent, incorrect and deeply insulting. But you aren't going to get a pass unless your results are in line with feminist ideology, are you?

Let me explain because I was vague. The 2 biggest issues are child support & family tax benefits (actually handouts rather than "tax benefits"). Child support paid to the mother is counted as income for the father (but not the mother). And, whereas any of the payments men are likely to get are taxable, family tax benefits (which legally go to the mother alone except in unusual circumstances) are not counted as taxable income. The next step is that lots of services are means tested based on taxab…

You have my genuine sympathy. I wish you well. Understand I'm not trying to compete but I went through hell with my divorce. (Thankfully that's all in the past.) But I have some expertise. You are completely correct about men suffering most. I have some thoughts on why: Divorces are mostly initiated by the woman & only after she has a plan. (Mostly) It's well known that women will help other women. Not so for men - even men are more likely to help a damsel in distress than another man soldiering…

It's good that they are prepared to recognise the problem. But: - They admit the UN isn't doing anything about it. - The only causes they are prepared to consider are those that fit into the feminist mythology that it's men's own fault. They don't, for example, consider the fact that there is much more spent on women's health than men's by governments, the UN & even charities like the Gates foundation. Australia seems to be one of the least bad places. But even here, there is much more money spe…

Lots of good comments here, but I don't think they quite nail the fundamental issue. One of the weaknesses of feminism is that feminist mythology lost contact with reality 50 years ago. Maintaining the mythology has become an uphill struggle requiring increasingly silly narratives that distort reality to allow the mythology to remain intact. In this particular case, when we say "You are bigots" they cannot just agree. They have to ignore their bigotry & invent a narrative to explain why anyone w…

Here in Australia, they have been doing softening up exercises like this for a while. Now, most feminist organisations have made it a priority to get men excluded from some homeless shelters. So, yeah, once they pull out the gender lens, be afraid. More discrimination on the way.

Women's rights is quite misleading. It suggests they have rights that are being withheld. Not so. They are fighting for increasing privilege, not for rights. Feminism rests upon 2 core beliefs: Man bad, Woman good Man bad, Woman victim The facts around Covid-19 aren't aligning with their mythology. That phrase " seems to be " is a classic way of downplaying facts that don't fit your narrative. The article downplays the death of men in favour of stats like "Most single parents are women" & some very strange factoids based on carefully selected stats from a variety of countries. So dying becomes a non-issue in favour of a fairly comical women as victims narrative. And the stats are not just China - the pattern is global as anyone who pays any attention knows. This is a great example of the way feminists start from their mythology & contort the world to fit. The reference to Carol Gilligan is interesting to me because I have been reading about Moral psychology lately.
