There are, literally, thousands of religions... and this guy is familiar enough with all of them to label all of religion as gynocentric. In other words, you can't expect anyone to take you seriously when you make such sweeping generalizations.

Not a chance. There are times when a protective order is needed. The interim order serves to protect the victim until the hearing for a full order can be held. Last year my family had to get a protective order against a local woman who was threatening our children's lives. The interim order meant that right away we could involve the police if she was near our home, but more importantly, that our children's school could involve the police if she showed up there.

You are right. I've just gotten a bit apathetic about such things since people still quote/believe that farce of a "study" by Mary Koss from back in 1987. Decades of logic and reason, and it hasn't been enough to counter Koss's lies. It feels like an inevitable repeating pattern at this point: The Feminists spin a false narrative. The general public believes it. And if we challenge, or oppose it, we are at best, dismissed as misogynists or rape apologists.

And I wholly agree. It's also a pet peeve when women claim that men had the right to vote soo much earlier than they did. I'm like, no. Men still don't have the right to vote. We're only granted the privilege of voting in exchange for registering to be conscripted into the military.

I didn't make the point, You made the point: “Privileges” for AMAB people including men and trans women, but just normal rights for cis women, right? So you tell us, what's the point?

the people creating it ARE eligible to be drafted and therefore CAN be subject to said draft. Again, no. Conscription would require Congress to grant the President authority to induct individuals, and the President would have to sign implementing legislation. The average age our current Congress is 61.5yrs, and Trump is 79yrs. The cut-off for military service is 45yrs. They ARE NOT eligible to be drafted and therefore CANNOT be subject to said draft.

Newsflash. It's not being reinstated... That happened 46 years ago in 1980. Meaning that the people involved? Way too old to be drafted.

What the wealthy would, or would not do, has no bearing on the fact that you can never have what you stated you would like to see: the people making the draft be the first ones to BE drafted, on account of those people not being alive.

Did you miss that it was established in 1917? 109 years ago... The people responsible for Selective Service aren't going to be doing anything... they're long dead.

Given that Selective Service was established in 1917, I don't think you're going to see any of those people drafted.

If you want a chance of anyone of any importance taking you at all seriously, you need to stoop calling it the "draft". Call it what it is: Selective Service Even so, you're never going to see Selective Service abolished, and it's also almost certain that Selective Service will never be 'gender neutral'. In the unlikely event that women were included, they would almost certainly be assigned non-combat roles. Women aren't going to fight to be sent into combat, and far too many men would support t…

most men feel threatened and act like babies when when women do anything better than them especially within the confines of a relationship. No, no they don't. Wherever it is that you think you're seeing this, isn't representative of most men. Most of use just don't really care in general, and will be proud/supportive of our partners success in a relationship. We DO sometimes get annoyed when a woman doing something is blown up as some sort of historic achievement and it's rubbed in our face as "…

Again with false narratives. I don't recall any comments about forcing anyone to stay in a relationship. You'll note that this is because no such comments were made. Women needing to "step up" in this context, is about them making good decisions and taking responsibility for their decisions, not about anyone being forced to do anything.
/r/MensRights06/04/26 03:02 AM

This is entirely wrong. First, you falsely equate maintaining the family structure with necessarily "high conflict". Yes, low conflict is better but... Second, studies show explicitly that households with both the mother and father predict significantly better outcomes for kids.
/r/MensRights06/04/26 01:00 AM
8

It's simple. When someone chooses to break up the family, that person is responsible for the consequences. Including the lack of both parents in the home, and the problems that arise from single parenting. What they should do, if the well being of the children is truly a priority, is maintain the family structure. Study after study have shown that children do substantially better when they have both their mother and father in the home.
/r/MensRights05/04/26 02:34 PM
20

That's a big fat nope. Men are not responsible for "stepping up" when the separation/divorce is initiated by the woman and she takes primary, or total, custody. Women can't expect men to be role models for children after they break up the family, especially when they limit or deny the mans access to his own children.
/r/MensRights05/04/26 12:19 PM
76

Better idea... How about women "step up" by actually staying with the baby's father so that their kids have a male role model in the house! It's a far sight better than expecting the rest of us men to fix their failings.

I also completely agree with the idea that they ask the mother if she and the baby are safe. That's not an indictment of you, but rather the statistics around domestic violence, particularly just after babies are born. I really wish people would stop with this so called "statistic". Half of it is just false narrative. The actual statistics show that the greater risk to newborns is from the mother. Mothers commit the majority of parental homicides of children under 1 year at 71.7%, and the overwh…

Sad to say, but you get used to it... It's not just healthcare. It happens with daycare, and the education system. It happens at retail stores that specialize in infant/child supplies or clothing. It even happens at public parks and playgrounds. There are a few heroes out there though. When my twins were born premature, they spent about two weeks in the NICU. I was in the NICU, sitting and holding my babies one time, when a new mother got upset that I was there. She was yelling at me to leave be…

"women's days"? Are you joking? As it stands, every day is women's day. This is just an attempt at having women's issues invade a space that is intended for men's issues. Nevermind the lack of comparable "men's days"...

I doubt that. First, you keep going on about Benadryl... but Benadryl was only mentioned briefly in the deposition, mostly Cosby talks about acquiring and dispensing Quaaludes. And second, because none of the testimony in his deposition stated that he engaged in non-consensual sex or gave anyone Quaaludes without their knowledge or consent. What Cosby "confessed" to, was casual sex involving recreational use of Quaaludes with a series of young women.
/r/MensRights28/07/21 05:13 AM

You haven't actually read his deposition, have you? Don't bother answering. I've read it, so i know that if you had actually read it, you would know that he did not confess as you claimed.

I don't get what's to be happy about here, this isn't a month celebrating or recognizing or appreciating men. It's "In recognition of the importance of having men as partners in promoting gender equality and equity..." This looks like little more than woke feminism giving a nod to male allies, but only for being allies.
/r/AntiFeminists04/06/21 11:48 PM
2

but this is, apparently, only about appreciating men "as partners in promoting gender equality and equity"... which doesn't sound like any sort of appreciation of men at all, just an appreciation of women's allies that might also happen to be men.
/r/AntiFeminists04/06/21 11:44 PM

You're not wrong. But the problems with that position are that A. they almost always came about only after the discussion about opening up the draft to include women, which makes it nothing more than self-serving. and B. that the draft, and selective service, even if discontinued, will inevitably be reinstated if ever there is a need. When that happens, the draft needs to already be gender neutral.

It's fraud, perjury, interference with law enforcements, obstruction of justice... Just making a false report to law enforcement is a misdemeanor, if the report results in injury or death of the accused, it's a felony. It's a crime, and should be treated as such. Genetically, sex is determined by chromosomes. Legally, sex is assigned at birth. It works something like this... Genetically a child is either male or female, but at birth, the attending doctor looks at the baby and says something like 'oh look. genitals' and based on the outward appearance of those genitals makes a, sometimes inaccurate, determination of sex, which is then recorded on the birth documents and is thus... legally assigned. I'm sorry if that distinction is too complex to understan…

On the genetic level they are still either male or female, as determined by the presence or absence of the Y chromosome. And I'm pretty sure that both genetically male, and genetically female people have rights. Legally sex is assigned at birth as either male or female, and may be be changed if an individual gets a court order to do so. You are correct, there are sex robots of both sexes, but I don't think it's significant to the apparent hypocrisy of opposing full body robots as 'objectifying' while celebrating robotic penises as 'liberating'. Additionally, those that get outraged about (female) sex robots are the ones creating negative, fear inducing, media content about them... and they're not mentioning the male sex robots. In one corner we have a "sex robot" - a robotic female body. In the other corner we have a vibrator - a robotic male sex organ. Beyond all reason, the full body robot is more 'objectifying' than the 'we only care about the penis' robotic cock... The only explanation that makes any sense is that this is a product of both the belief that the only value women have in a heterosexual relationship is as a penis stimulator and ejaculation receptacle, and fear... fear that they may become replaceable as…

What the what? We should prejudge both the intent and outcome of a study based on nothing more than the inclusion of male participants? …I don't think so, and as an anecdotal, example, I'm pretty damn sure that the NIH study my sons and I are participating in is looking at hereditary components, and developmental impact, of sex chromosome abnormalities, explicitly XYY syndrome, and is, in no way, trying to “deconstruct” masculinity. In fact, the study will, ultimately, benefit men and boys.

I think the whole pro-life/pro-choice thing is a false dichotomy. Personally I don't approve of abortions except in medically necessary cases, or incidences of rape. but I also don't believe that the government should limit reproductive choice by making abortion illegal, because I acknowledge that not everyone shares my view. So... pro-life on a personal level, and pro-choice on a political level.

Convenient swapping of terms there. Feminism not caring about men would pair up with the MRM not caring about women. Not with whether or not men care about feminism. Men couldn’t care about feminism before it was 'created' so that's a massive red herring. Never mind that without men caring, there would never have been any political support for women's suffrage in the first place. So, the entire claim is demonstrably false.

Not just polite, it's necessary for the question to have any merit at all. Consider all of the topics that get brought up under the label 'women's rights'. It's a broad umbrella, often inappropriately encompassing issues that have nothing to do with 'rights', and how an individual feels about them is going to be dependent on the specific issue(s).

The argument is predicated on a low prevalence of false accusation, which is, at best debatable, and a worst a fallacy. From https://www.aals.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Bowen-Kanin-False-Rape-Empirical.pdf "Regarding this study, 41% (n = 45) of the total disposed rape cases (n = 109) were officially declared false during this 9-year period, that is, by the complainant's admission that no rape had occurred and the charge, therefore, was false."

The tender years doctrine Demands of 50/50 employment in preferred roles (regardless of merit) The Duluth model VAWA Women's only businesses and services while men's only are shut down. Anyone with even a grade school level science education should be able to recognize that sequential hermaphroditism (a unique reproductive strategy among teleosts that is displayed mainly in fish species living in the coral reef environment) has exactly zero to do with the simple male heteromorphic (XX female/XY male) sex determination system, or the male-inducing master sex-determining gene, SRY (located on the Y chromosome), in humans.

Our release schedules were overly aggressive, meaning we were always looking at 'crunch time' for one project or another, and crunch time, during which 12-16 hour or longer work days were common, could go on for months on end. People burned out… so we had a fairly high turnover rate. And then the push for 'diversity'. Suddenly we were not hiring the …

if it's rape, then women lying about being on the pill, or deciding not to take it, is rape... but it's not "rape" if the sex is consensual. it's something. and arguable very wrong, possibly criminal, but not "rape". I highly doubt that we'll ever see a fair criminal classification. because, arguable, since women can always choose to abort a pregnancy or surrender an unwanted infant, the unavoidable costs of unwanted paternity far outweighs the unavoidable costs to the woman.

I would disagree. when a law is passed to explicitly protect one group, or provide for one group, it's not equal rights for all is it. As an example, laws that deal with the crime of rape are often treated as a subset of 'women's right', yet they often define rape such that only women qualify as victims. equal for all? no.

lets see... if we all have the same rights, are they "LGB rights" or equal rights for LGB people? I'll fight for the latter, not the former. Same with rights for men. It's always "everyone" and "people" and "society" and "women". … always Absolutes… a sure sign of two things; intellectual inferiority, and low effort. If all you want to do is bait the members of this sub, you're going to need to try a bit harder. If you like, I could recommend some great books on logical reasoning and debate, maybe you could establish a basic understanding of inference rules and symbolic logic and then come back with some ability to actually discuss things intelligently. Sorry squirt, it's because you're not here to have a discussion about men's issues, you're here to vilify/blame men. This is not a space for men to discuss issues that someone else dictates should be important to men.

Isn't this a bit like asking why feminists don't focus on the high rate of domestic violence in lesbian couples? How about the right to vote? Women have the right by default, men have to sign up for selective service to earn the same right, we don't just get it by default. Men have a number of other 'rights' tied to signing up for selective service. Qualifying for Federal aid, Federal grants, Federal loans, some 'government benefits' eligibility for federal employment. It's all very simple… if they created a new festival featuring only women playwrights, and if this femstival fails, well, then they look like talentless losers. However, if they take an existing festival, and convert it to featuring only women playwrights, then when it fails, they can blame patriarchy and misogyny by suggesting that regular festival goers bailed because, and only because the playwrights are women.
/r/MensRights28/06/16 08:47 PM

Well, there are only two kinds of 'rights', moral and legal. I defy you to find an example of either that men have but women do not.
/r/MensRights28/06/16 07:56 AM

The question is meaningless. Here, women have every right that men have, and many that men don't, so the idea that gender equality requires men to fight for women's 'rights' is either a red herring, or a furthering of the feminist 'heforshe' narrative that paints women as helpless and dependent on the actions of men.

Women have a single asset? Really? Their bodies? That, friend, is the narrative of the feminist. Or rather, their story is that men think the way you do. A woman, even a post menopausal woman can still cook, and clean. She can talk and think, she can be a painter, a musician, a computer programmer, a corporate executive... This, I can agree with. And to be fair, I sometimes have difficulty seeing / acknowledging the mask. The push for affirmative consent ensures that video recording of sexual encounters is inevitable… proof of initial consent is already under attack since consent can be revoked at any time, and consent after the fact has been attacked with claims that we can’t judge how a woman might behave/react after a sexual assault… and that leaves proof of ongoing consent. The lack of discrimination does not, in any way, equate to privilege. Privilege, by definition, is benefit beyond what the majority of, or most, people get. May well be, though my reaction was a little bit tongue-in-cheek. The real solution to false accusations won't be just to teach women not to make them. It really does not matter what this study claims to have found… All it takes is one raging feminist exploding into a fit of hostility when a door is held open to make one think twice about holding a door open for anyone ever again… I've held doors open for countless people, and the only ones I remember individually are the few raging beasts. But I do remember those, and all the Purdue Researchers can’t alter the facts of those confrontations, nor can they alter the dampening such experience has …

This kind of thing is one of the big reasons that my boys go to a private school that provides lots of outdoor activity time, and actually encourages unstructured play.

Should that be "oppressed" or"oppressive"?

She’s what, 19 now? So with an average life expectancy for women in the United States of 82,2 years a life sentence would be a little over 62 years. Which is more inhumane? 62+ years of prison? Or death? And, if we assume an afterlife, death isn't inhumane at all! It just takes those 62+ years and tacks them onto an already infinite afterlife.

One has to wonder if Terry O’Neill, president of NOW and author of that statement on the NOW website, even took the time to read Taranto’s article... O’Neill claims “James Taranto stated that in sexual assault cases where both the victim and rapist are drunk -- both parties are equally to blame for the attack.” He didn’t. Not once. What he did do was make a point of distinguishing between intoxicated sex that is later regretted and sexual assault that may involve drinking, and he quoted Winerip’…

Sorry, I was grossly unclear. Price did not celebrate the attack. My comment about not celebrating it was inwardly directed towards us here, and our potential response to the article.

W.F. Price needs to be called out on something... presuming that the targeted sites were more vulnerable due to not having "male techies on staff" and asserting that "women generally consider tech work beneath them" are both unproductive and sexist. We can't hope to gain any support if, as a group, we are seen as being as sexist as those we speak out against. Far better that we call attention to the hypocrisy of feminists claiming to fight for 'equality' than being seen as hypocrites ourselves. …

That kind of thing happens all the time. In part its audience targeting, Amazon is targeting women with this program believing that women (moms in particular) are more price sensitive and can be induced to spend more… and in part it’s the socially accepted expectation that mothers are the ‘primary’ or more active parent.

Sadly, this is par for the course these days. Just yesterday while talking with two prominent members of NOW I made the mistake of commenting that a particular middle aged woman taking an unusual interest in a particular twelve year old girl was ‘creepy’… their response? It’s only creepy if it’s a man taking interest in a child.

I wish I could agree. but it does take two people, if a man and woman both make a choice to engage in behavior that can result in pregnancy, then they are both responsible for the outcome. We can't very well say that we can have our fun but only the woman should shoulder the consequences of mutual actions. If, as men, we want greater sexual freedom without the risks of pregnancy, then we should be supporting efforts to develop and approve male oral contraceptives, and legislation allowing for pa…

Before using that as an argument you might want to read this That said, you'll be lucky if you don't get accused of "mansplaining", or of being a misogynist for challenging the "our body, our choice" mantra.

Not buying into the idea that feminists will see limited marriage and financial options as the results of their own activism hardly makes me a ‘men’s rights doomsayer’ In fact, it has nothing to do with men’s right or my attitude about them at all… I’m a big believer in men’s rights and moving towards true gender equality.I am also a believer in human nature and people’s blind spot when it comes to blaming their own actions or belief systems for negative outcomes. If you want feminists to acknow…

You've mistaken realism for cynicism. Feminist groups have consistently denied and even suppressed facts and opinions that are not in alignment with the idea that men are oppressors and women victims. To suggest that they will suddenly turn around and acknowledged that degradation of women’s financial status is due to their own ‘activism’ is the most foolish kind of fantasy.

"At this point a lot of discussion will appear and it will prove the mra movement right." Except that isn't how the feminists will spin it. They'll claim that it's the patriarchy treating them unfairly and just more proof that women are discriminated against.

Very true, and in any case were the doctor suspects that any such pressure may exist they are entirely right to see the patient privately, I will argue, however, that a good doctor will also recognize that both partners involved in a pregnancy have either entered into a long term commitment together, or have a shared interest in avoiding said commitment. Both have a vested interest… supporting them as a couple can have benefits, and help strengthen developing familial bonds, while alienating the…

I suppose that may happen, but I’m going to go out on a limb and suggest that it mostly happens for initial pregnancy tests rather than any follow-up / pre-natal appointments. Once upon a time I attended many appointments of a pregnant girlfriend, more recently I attended almost every appointment when my wife was pregnant. The only times I was asked to leave was during fetal heart monitoring, and then only if it was done in a communal room and other patients were present, and during prep for an …

You’re not going to be “kicked out” if the woman doesn’t want you to be… especially if you’re the husband/father-to-be, and if she doesn’t want her partner to be there it should send up some pretty hefty red flags.

An intelligent man, faced with a positive test, insists on accompanying the woman to the doctor for a follow-up. You know, out of concern for her health… to make certain that there are no complications. It’s all about her, and her health, and the pregnancy. Well, that and making certain that you aren’t getting seriously dicked over. There is really only one reason she would resist support from her partner… The women selling these tests are certainly pretty low on the moral chart themselves… I wo…
