The current interim protective order process is fundamentally broken. Right now, a judge can issue an order that destroys your life based on hearing only one side of the story—leaving you unable to defend yourself until it's too late.

I started a petition because this needs to change. When one party can file false allegations and get an order issued immediately, the accused has no chance to be heard before serious damage is done. These orders affect custody, reputation, employment—everything. And if those allegations turn out to be false? The harm is already done.

I'm asking for a simple fix: require both parties to be heard before an interim order takes effect. This isn't about protecting abusers—it's about protecting innocent people from a system that currently lets one side weaponize it.
