You heard way wrong. It's a mild anti anxiety which seems to affect people differently, but that's about it. One thing it is good for is sleep. I'm a terrible sleeper but half a teaspoon of pheni and I can sleep 12 hours of deep sleep. The downside is that it tends to cause anxiety and disrupted sleep if you use it too often, which you end up doing due to tolerance. I've stopped using it because of the sides and I really loved it for sleep.
