Cold showers are amazing. You kinda get addicted to them. No hot shower can ever match the feeling when you step outside. Great way to start your day. It's 7am and you already feel like you climbed a mountain and slayed a dragon. I personally started at Christmas, first few runs are really tough, but you really start to enjoy it as the uncomfortable part at the start gets shorter and shorter.

I think clubs with reasonable noise levels that allow fluent conversation are a nice place to start. It is all about your preference. Also if you feel like you don't like approaching groups alone, then don't go solo and bring someone with you. Easy as that. There is no reason to feel intimidated, nobody is going to bite your head off.

Well asking her out IS showing your interest, but you need to give her room to qualify herself also. Once she also shows some positive signs, the game is on. If she likes you, then just be yourself. Just stop trying to force it. Work on your inside. Set some short to mid term goals that have nothing to do with girls. Meet those goals, gain some confidence. And work on yourself more. Once you have enough, you won't be rattled by any bumps in social interaction. Girls will pick up on that. Ultimately how you see yourself (subconsciously) is how they perceive you. From my experience, too low self-esteem is a big no-no for a long term relationships. You will simply get tired of it. For a long run, you want a partner, not a weight to drag around. On the other hand, if you gonna be just fuckbuddies, you don't have to worry about it much.

I think it would greatly help if you find a professional to talk to. There is no shame in that. You need to clear your inner world before you start rocking the outside one. I worked as a luxury cab driver in Prague so I have seen this over and over again.
