I wasn't sure where to post this, but I feel /r/seduction is appropriate.

I have always had difficulty with women and been insecure about my ability to seduce women. I am confident that people find me attractive, but for some reason my romantic life has been a huge failure. These failures always make me sadder than I think it should, partly because I think I create expectations from them after good things happen to me.

For example, last year I was cheated on by a girl I really liked which devastated me. That scarred me pretty bad and it took me a while to get back in the game. A few days ago I hooked up with a girl for the first time in a while, and I really liked her as well. Immediately after our hook up, I started creating expectations for myself in being with this girl and started being positive again. However, last night I went out with her again and she told me she was bisexual and was confused about her sexuality, and basically friend-zoned me. I felt that familiar disappointment from last year with the girl that cheated on me, and I can't help but being sad again.

I personally think that my sadness from these events derive from my tendency to create high expectations whenever I have a positive romantic experience, and when it doesn't work out, I get really disappointed and sad.

I know from experience (not just my love life) that creating expectations is basically setting yourself up for bigger disappointments. However, I can't help myself. What are some tips you can give me to eliminate this tendency to have expectations? How have you dealt with similar experiences?

Some people I know don't care or easily forget about these disappointments when it happens to them, and it is a skill that I really envy. How do people do this???

TL;DR: I have difficulty suppressing my tendency to create expectations whenever something good happens to me, and when it doesn't work out, I get really disappointed and discouraged. Please help me eliminate this tendency.

Thanks!
